What you'll do

You'll join me in my working letterpress printing studio and we'll start by having tea and chocolate while looking over examples of work from the studio. Our conversation will lead us to what we want to print! I will give a brief overview of how to set type from my vintage collection and we'll get right to work! After typesetting we'll take a snack break with beverage. Printing is the next step. We'll mix ink, set the forme in the press and print an edition of 50 one color/one sided 2" x 3.5" cards. I like to call them pocket poems but they can be used an card inserts, calling cards or just something you want to share with someone you love or someone you are about to meet. You will leave the studio with fine printed ephemera and a story to tell about how the printing press changed the world.

Lynda

I've been the proprietor of Bremelo Press, located in Seattle's Little Saigon neighborhood, since 2000. Born in Bremerton, Washington, I am a studio artist, printer and poet. I am a founding board member of Wayzgoose Kitsap, a non-profit that puts printing in the streets of my home town and focuses on breaking down barriers to the arts, both physical and financial. I've done creative workshops for Microsoft and Amazon. I've taught at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, the oldest professional craft school in the US and Ladies of Letterpress Print Week in St Louis, Mo. My work is featured in the Swedish Hospital Collection, the Center for the Study of Political Graphics and in Ladies of Letterpress (Princeton Architectural Press).
