You will be picked up by our partner coach company in comfortable a 12 seat coach and taken up to El Retemarat an altitude of 2100M the point where we watch the sunset over the islands of La Palma La Gomera and El Hierro every sunset is different so its a unique experience we capture a photograph with you as the sun shines through a glass of Cava we provide. After the sunset we transport you down to the original volcano crater called the Caldera and at an elevation of 2000M under the shadow of Mount Teide we use Laser pointers to show you the stars to explain the names and the constellations how to find the north star Polaris using the plough asterism in Ursa Major how to find the Andromeda galaxy using the great square of Pegasus and some of the Greek mythology built in to the constellations. We use a 12" computerised Dobsonian telescope to show you the moon which you can take photos of using your mobile phone the planets when they are in the sky normally through the summer and autumn months and beautiful galaxies and nebulas plus star clusters such as the Pleides or seven sisters in the constellation of Taurus in the winter months. We take beautiful photos of the guests individually under the stars using astrophotography techniques that show the stars above you. Finally after several hours of the sunset and the stars we transport you back to your hotels with great memories.
I am a Starlight Monitor guide approved by the Institute of Astronomy of Canaries the organisation that runs the Observatories here in La Palma and Tenerife. I love to show people the great night skies we have here in Tenerife we use laser pointers to explain the stars and constellations and explain some of the Greek Mythology behind the constellations. We also have a large professional telescope which we use to show our guests the planets the moon galaxies and nebulas. My favourite part of the trip is taking photos of the guests using astrophotography techniques that show them under a star studded sky. Our excursion is about the natural beauty of the islands and we explain the differing flora and fauna how the island was formed and some of the history we also stop on the way up to Teide to watch the sunset over the sea.
