What you'll do

We will pick you up bright and early from your requested accommodation between 7am and 7:30am (exact times to be assigned the day before once all bookings are in) in our branded Munro Mobile (Nissan Cube-6 seater). Then we will make our way to the Highlands, taking in some photo ops and pitstops on the way up to see some castles and coos. We will then make a food stop in Tyndrum for coffee and breakfast, as well as picking up packed lunches for the hike. From there it is another 30 minutes drive to the start of the hike in Glen Coe. Famous for its breathtaking and cinematic valley, the centre of Glen Coe is where we begin the trek at around 11:30am. The hike takes us up 3000 feet on Buachaille Etive Beag ridge, where we will bag (summit) the munro (approximately 5hrs). Once returned to the vehicle, we will detour through the rest of the valley to see the picturesque Three Sisters and the Lost Valley (of Clan MacDonald) before making our way back. At the tours request, we will make an additional stop for dinner on the way, and then onwards back to Edinburgh to arrive around 7pm.

Megan

Originally from California, I fell in love with the Highlands the moment I moved to Scotland over 4 years ago; I have currently completed more than 100 Munros and counting. There’s nothing quite like the Highlands, and the indescribable experience and perspective that Munro bagging provides. I love being there to see the reaction on people’s faces when we first enter the highlands, the looks of awe never get old! Though I love soaking up the sun doing summer munros, I cannot get enough of winter munros. More challenging and dangerous, the sense of accomplishment coupled with the breathtaking views are second to none, and the extremeness is only enhanced by trekking with crampons and ice axe!

Where you'll be

Our tour will take us from Edinburgh up past the famous Kelpies (horse head sculptures), through the Historic battle sites of William Wallace and Stirling Castle, past the popular film location of Doune Castle (Outlander, Game of Thrones, The Outlaw King, Monty Python) and through the picturesque town of Callander. We will make a stop just outside of Callander to visit some Highland Coos before winding our way to the Historic Valley of Glen Coe.

More tips

While Munro Bagging is considered hill walking, we do require a basic level of fitness. The route is approximately 7mi and has an incline of over 1000m. With that said, we take plenty of breaks, and the tour will go at the pace all of the ‘baggers’ are comfortable with.
