What we’ll do

We will meet in Kalapana, then drive about two miles closer to the active lava fields and park at a private location. Then our hike begins—it's about five or six miles roundtrip, and the excursion lasts five or six hours. By this time, the day's last light starts to sink behind the volcano Mauna Loa, and we will find you the best locations to view both the active lava and the sunset. Hawaii's…

Wear sturdy, closed-toe hiking boots or sneakers. Bring two quarts of water per person, a hat, a lightweight long-sleeved shirt, and a camera. We can provide any other gear you might need. Just ask.

We'll be in Kalapana and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park—Hawaii's magical playground for active surface lava and stargazing, mixed with that classic Hawaiian vibe.

Guest requirements

Up to 6 guests ages 13 and up can attend.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
