What you'll do

Guests will travel to historic Okotoks, 15 minutes south of Calgary, to reach Jim and Marion's spacious home. Concerts start at 7:00 pm so it is appreciated if guests could please arrive 15 minutes ahead of time. The performance consists of two 40 minute sets with a 15-20 minute intermission. Guests may BYOB if they wish, and Jim and Marion will supply snacks and pop. It is indeed an inviting and intimate setting in front of the fireplace in the Reader's living room. This home setting, combined with Jim's historically based songs (all in chronological order) allows guests to totally relax and leave with a unique sensory experience. Guests will feel the wind, smell the sage and taste the traildust down the trails of Alberta's Old West.

Learn more about Jim

Jim

A retired hobby rancher, Jim Reader is an award-winning (Canada and USA) seasoned Singer/Songwriter. Jim's historical songwriting pays tribute to Alberta's rich western heritage > the buffalo, the First Nations, the NW Mounted Police; the first cattle, ranchers, cowboys, pioneers and settlements in the West of the late 1880's. Entertaining and enlightening, Jim's concert has received accolades from community, school and special events venues. Included is a visual component with over 300 historical photos and artwork that supports the lyrics of every song. The intimate home-concert setting creates the perfect ambience. Interaction is encouraged. Guests will definitely feel the wind, smell the sagebrush and taste the trail dust in this refreshing ride through the trails of the Old West!
