What you'll do

Before the workshop I will contact you to find out a bit more about your photographic interests and level of experience.
I will meet you at the superb locations of Blackwater here in the New Forest. With the lovely backdrop of tall trees, open heath and a pond we will work on Basic Controls of the camera and the lens together with what some of the buttons do and what information the camera can provide. We will work on composition and how to take best advantage of the available light and how it changes. We will explore scenarios from photographing your family in the landscape, landscape photography itself to photographing wildlife and nature.
After we finish I will prepare a summary of what we covered to help you take in the new techniques which will help your photography grow.
Other things to note
This photography learning experience is aimed at photographers who tend to use program and auto modes and would like to know more about how to get the best out of their camera.
The experience will last around 2 1/2 hours

I have around 35 years of photography experience and have run my own photography business since 2013. I have won a number of awards in International and local competitions. My training experience come from the role of Sales Trainer in my Pharmaceutical career and also as a Hockey Coach and Athletics Coach. I have run small workshops and provided personal tuition in Photography for around 3 years and I am an active member of the Southampton Camera Club where I compete as an Advanced Worker.
I try to keep a broad range of genres in my photographic work but in almost all cases I try to showcase the creative possibilities that a camera can provide. I almost never use auto or programme modes on my camera. I prefer to take control of the settings to take advantage of the the light so that my images will stand out.

Henry was excellent. He made me feel so welcome. His knowledge of photography knows no end and he was able to explain it to me (a total beginner) in clear detail. A wonderful few hours spent in the forest. I will definitely be going back next year. Henry’s website is definitely worth investigating- some excellent photos on there and he frames them.

I rarely met someone as passionate about something as Henry is about photography and sharing his vast knowledge and expertise of the topic. I booked Henry's experience as a birthday gift for my girlfriend, an amateur photographer, to help her develop her skills and he truly made it a magical moment for her. From the very beginning, Henry, through carefuly chosen questions, made it sure to understand her skills, material and expectations to create a bespoke learning experience that she could benefit the most from. In addition to being extremly knowledgeable about his art but also various other topics, he is a very kind person with a great sense of humor. It was a real chance to spend time with him, in such a beautiful place that is New Forest, and I could not recommend Henry's experience enough to anyone who wants to deepen their photography skills and sharpen their understanding of what is required to take photographies that tell a story.
