What you'll do

In this experience, you will enjoy matcha-making and a traditional "kaiseki" dinner at my restaurant. Kaiseki is a traditional Japanese multiple-course meal known for its meticulous preparation, fresh seasonal ingredients, and beautiful artistic presentation. I will explain about each dish so you will learn about authentic food while eating. After enjoying kaiseki dinner, you can experience making matcha. I think many travelers might hesitate to try tea ceremony. I want you to enjoy a more casual experience by lowering the cultural barrier.

I am the owner of the traditional restaurant my great grandmother started in 1949 in Kyoto. The restaurant is a family business, and I am the fourth-generation owner. We have been serving authentic Kyoto cuisine for several generations. The name of my restaurant, Shōgetsu, means "shining moon." Like a moon illuminating the night with a gentle light, I will warmly welcome you. I would like to help you make lovely memories during your trip in Kyoto.
