What you'll do

You'll check in approximately 45 minutes before sunset in order to get in position for an amazing Kona sunset. You'll gear up and be briefed on ocean safety and etiquette then be off for a 20-30 minute boat ride to the giant manta rays. Be sure to bring a camera or an SD card to capture the beautiful sunset and all the underwater action, we have go pros on the boat you can use. Once the sun goes down and it gets dark enough you'll jump in the water to experience an under water ballet of a lifetime. The giant manta rays of Kona will come so close they might even bump into you during the show, Not to worry, they are completely harmless. After all of that you'll come back onboard where hot chocolate awaits.
Other things to note
You don't have to be a diver or an expert swimmer to enjoy this experience.

I am a Captain of vessels up 30 tons up with a Master rating and am a qualified 1st Mate of 0cean going vessels up to 100tons.. I am passionate about anything that is in or on the water. I'm an avid surfer and scuba diver. In college I majored in electrical engineering with dual minors in economics and marine biology with an emphasis on dolphins, sharks, and pelagic fish. I've been running charters for 20 plus years, not crusty but plenty salty. I teach conservation and our impact to the marine life on every tour in a fun and interactive way and how our actions on land impact the aquatic wildlife that inhabit the worlds oceans. I love sharing my expertise with families and individuals from all over the world. My tours are fun and interactive for all ages. My guests leave with a better understanding of the ocean and their inhabitants.

One word: Amazing! Small boat with small group of people for that personal touch. It did not feel touristy at all. The boat crew was super friendly and welcoming with a lot of knowledge about the local ocean water and the Mantas. Thankfully no one got seasick because the Captain was efficient. Oh, and the Mantas! Beautiful, graceful and gentle creatures. Definitely a must do while in Kona.
