What you'll do

We'll meet in charming Andersonville, the heart of the Swedish community in Chicago. You'll take a guided tour of the Swedish American Museum with a docent. Along the way, trace the path that the Swedish took to America and learn about many of the Swedish community's contribution to the city- then, head across the street to experience one of them for yourself! At Simon's Tavern, one of Chicago's oldest bars, play it safe with a glass or glögg or "enjoy" a shot of Chicago's bitterest claim to fame: malöt. You'll hear about the history of this long-standing establishment and get exclusive access to the former speakeasy in Simon's basement.
