What you'll do
We will welcome to you our home studio Arcadia - a 3,800 square foot warehouse space that has been transformed into a cultural arts center - by giving you a tour of the studio and a brief overview of the various activities we host throughout the year which include dance and aerial classes, art walks, cultural celebrations, and live performances. Then we'll get into the experiential part of the day by doing a 20 minute warm up together to prepare our bodies for what's to come - flying! We'll spend an hour in the air together, exploring the basics of aerial hoop, silks, and hammock under the careful guidance of our trained instructors. We guarantee a minimum 4:1 student-teacher ratio to ensure you get plenty of hands-on support and coaching as you climb, spin, and fly with us. Your experience with us ends with a yoga-based group cooldown and will treat you to a short aerial dance performance created just for you by our instructors. Come prepared to sweat and have an amazing time trying aerial arts with us at Arcadia. Workout clothing is required for this adventure - you won't be able to dance through the air with the greatest of ease in jeans or skirts.
I'm co-founder of The Cabiri performance troupe and the Studio Manager at Arcadia, a 4,000 square foot cultural arts space in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. I've been teaching and performing aerial dance on silks, hoop, and trapeze along with my fellow Cabiri troupe members for over 15 years and am passionate about combining these art forms to depict stories from folklore and mythology in live performances at Arcadia and throughout the greater Seattle region. I have completed several aerial dance instructor teacher trainings in the last two decades including Nimble Arts' 40-hour aerial teacher training and Hoop Artist's 3-day aerial hoop teacher training. I am passionate about sharing my art forms with anyone who loves movement whether you're a runner, a yogi, a dancer, or a gym-goer.
