What you'll do
In this AirBnB Experience you will get to know Inverness in a new light. We will meet at Falcon Square, right in the centre of the city and will jump straight into two hours of stories of the Highlands. The tour will include all the information you might expect from a classic walking tour and just so much more. Story-telling has always been important for communities, we already see evidence of that in the iron ages. You might have heard of Inverness' connection to Shakespeare's Macbeth, however, there are so many more stories that need telling. From Falcon Square onwards it will be short walks from one Inverness sight to the next, in between which I will tell you where the name Inverness originates from, teach you a couple of words of Gaelic and tell the stories worth telling. The tour is constructed in a way that there will be no long and silent walks. Instead we will stop every couple of minutes at places that are either a must-see or just a personal favourite of mine. You will fall in love with the Victorian Market Dog, see Macbeth in a new light and be surprised by the prophecies of the Brahan Seer. We will end at Falcon Square again from where I can show you to great places for a dram of Whisky, or some lunch or afternoon tea, depending on the time the tour starts/finishes (price for food not included in tour).
I am a German lass with her heart lost in the Highlands. I came to study the people and the culture and never truly left. Now I have put down roots and want others to feel the same. Literature, culture, and conversations with different people are my passions. By offering AirBnB Experiences I am able to connect visitors to the place I lost my heart to. Now I want to share my knowledge about the town I love. Especially literature seems to be under-represented in tours for visitors which is what I am aiming to change. I will share my knowledge and passion on myths, legends, stories, and prophecies. I am an expert on literature as I have studied it at university for six years and am now working on my PhD.

Where you'll be
We will walk around the inner city centre of Inverness. The walking part of the tour is about 2,5km (c. 1,6 miles) depending on how the group works together and how everyone is feeling about the walking. There will only be a little uphill walking to get to Inverness Castle. Some steps might be along the way, but if there are any difficulties with steps, we can take another way.
