What you'll do

During this tour we will take you to two of Bogotá’s traditional and authentic neighborhoods where we will get to know the story and culture through the local people. Our first stop is a Farmers Marketplace, where we will try products from different regions of the country, brought by their farmers. On a second stage, in a different kind of marketplace we will have the option to choose from thirteen menus for lunch. Delicious, authentic and traditional dishes from Bogotá and Colombia. We will finish our tour in an urban garden. This garde offers a warm and homely atmosphere that will carry us away from Bogotá’s daily reality, through the flavors of the vegetable jams and ice creams produced here. This place is an example of organic and natural farming, and the valuable knowledge that can be found in it. We will move around by walking and public transport service as this is part of the local experience.

Your hosts

Hi! We are Manuela and Julia. We were born and raised in Bogotá. Our strong affection for our city and it’s culture combined with the passion for traveling is what brought us to create Bogotá Chirriada, a project that offers an alternative and community based tourism experience. It’s been six years since Manuela founded this project with the intention of showing travelers the authentic Bogotá co-working with local communities. I rather the experience to talk about us, here below you can check some travelers testimonies: “Manuela moved smoothly through all the hidden alleys of this city while telling us surprising stories about details that you wouldn't be aware of going by yourself.” “Agile, dynamic, knowledgeable and dazzling, Julia guided us through a sincere and thriving Bogotá.”

Where you'll be

The 20 de Julio marketplace has the biggest farmer market of the city. We will be in contact with very helpful and respectful merchants. The Perseverancia Marketplace is composed by eight open kitchens that offer extensive menu based in the traditional countryside gastronomy. The Santa Elena urban garden is a small oasis in the middle of the city. Our hostess, opens the doors of her house to delight us with her vegetable products.
