What you'll do

After a short welcome and introduction, we will trace the discarded cans from trash bins to the redemption center. A canner from the organization will lead you to go around the community, show you what canning is like and share his/her experiences of canning. If you want to, you are welcomed to personally experience canning with the canner and we will provide gloves for you. After a 30-45 mins slow walk, we will return to the SWC redemption center and spend the rest 30-45 mins hearing from SWC representatives talking about the current recycling situation in NYC and how SWC is helping to make a difference while observing canners doing their job in the redemption center.

Malvyn

My name is Malvyn, Executive Director of Sure We Can the only non-profit homeless-friendly redemption center in NYC. I have been with the organization for four years and I am very passionate about the environmental impact as well as the social impact SWC has.

About the organization

Sure We Can

Sure We Can was founded to provide people who collect cans with a welcoming place to redeem and connect with others doing the same activity. SWC’s mission is to support the local community, particularly its most vulnerable residents, and to promote social inclusion, environmental awareness, and economic empowerment. SWC has evolved into a recycling center, community space, and sustainability hub.

This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to Sure We Can.
