What you'll do

Join us on an exclusive journey through 5,000 years of culture and history and awaken your senses with the finest chocolate & art that Ecuador has to offer. This two hour private experience takes you behind the scenes and into the home of Ecuador's most celebrated modern artist - Oswaldo Guayasamín. The second half of the tour will take place in Guayasamín's wine cellar, where he entertained notable guests and his closest friends. An intimate setting around a table. In front of each person is a tasting plate with a roasted cacao bean and samples of at least five different editions of To’ak chocolate. Akin to a wine tasting, a member of To’ak’s production team guides everyone through a comprehensive tasting and pairing experience, with a focus on Ecuador’s famous Nacional cacao variety. Cacao genetics, terroir, fermentation methods, barrel-aging, and other production decisions are all explained in the context of how these variables influence the aroma and flavor profile of each expression of chocolate. Comparable to a course in Wine 101, but with the most luxurious and elaborate dark chocolate on the planet.

Learn more about James

James

Your hosts James, Carl and Dennise are chocoholics who also happen to be obsessed with the connection that chocolate has with several ancient Ecuadorian cultures. We approach chocolate making much like an artist - paying attention to the way we can experience fine chocolate through our many senses. We are all proudly based in Ecuador—the native origin of cacao—and our roots are in rainforest conservation and community development projects. We aim to create memorable experiences, connecting people to land, and promoting a healthy food and farming culture. We do this by constantly pushing the boundaries of how cacao is sourced, produced, experienced, and valued in the world today. We are celebrated for our innovative cask-aged chocolate, and we have made it our job to be stewards of the rarest and most prized cacao variety on earth.
