What you'll do

We will meet in downtown Olympia where we will board our 30 foot Catalina sailboat, captained by my fiancé Bob. Bob is a licensed United States Coast Guard Captain as well as a certified American Sailing Association sailing instructor. We will make our way to Hope Island Marine State Park, hopefully getting the sails up if the weather cooperates. Bob will share his knowledge of the area as we cruise and his passion for the Puget Sound will be evident! The island is a an hour and 15 minutes away and can ONLY be reached by watercraft, which makes visiting a real treasure!! Once on the island, we will spend an hour and a half indulging in nature. We will set up our yoga mats in a historic orchard of fruit and nut trees planted by early homesteaders a century ago, with a beautiful view of the beach. I will lead you through a personalized meditation and yoga session, designed to bring peace and joy to your heart. After our yoga session, we will have time to explore a bit. We will guide you through the easy walking trails as you admire the gorgeous Pacific Northwest greenery and waterline. Once back on the boat, we will serve water and some light snacks. We will cruise back to Olympia, enjoying the scenery and admiring the beautiful and historic Washington State Capital Building as we arrive.

Bob is a USCG Captain holding multiple marine certifications to include sailing instructor. He has been boating, fishing, scuba diving and kayaking on the Puget Sound for over 30 years. He learned to sail here, but has been on boats in Alaska, Thailand, Hawaii, Fuji and Mexico. I began my yoga journey six years ago and am a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. I practice daily and have a passion for yoga that extends into all aspects of my life. I use clear alignment instructions along with compassion to teach others how to honor their bodies, both in their abilities and limitations. I feel so blessed to be able to share yoga with others. I am trained in Hatha and Vinyasa flow. I enjoy breath work while focusing on stillness, meditation, and presence. Gratitude is the focus of my heart and is evident in my teaching.

Where you'll be

Hope Island is a PNW gem and is only accessible by watercraft! This makes visiting very special and not accessible to everyone. It was named by Commander Charles Wilkes in 1841. Wilkes was engaged in the mission of charting Puget Sound. Located near Steamboat Island in the Squaxin Passage, Hope Island's terrain is made up of Douglas-fir, cedar, hemlock, alder and maple trees. A wealth of tasty shellfish draws bald eagles and great blue herons.

Guest safety

Outdoor activities carry risks, and you may be exposed to dangerous situations as part of this experience. Make sure you can participate safely given your abilities and the conditions (such as location, weather, and equipment).

Things to keep in mind

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be canceled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Communication policy

Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the Airbnb website or app.

Guest requirements

Up to 4 guests ages 18 and up can attend. Guests should be comfortable around the water, as they will need to climb down the boat ladder to get into the dinghy that will take them to shore at Hope Island.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

More tips

Guests need to be able bodied in order to get on and get off of the sailboat. There are no fitness requirements for the yoga session, as the practice will be tailored to your experience and needs.
