What you'll do

Your artistic senses will be immersed in nature as you leave civilization in the rear-view and take a step back in time! We'll be walking along the picturesque Hudson River where artifacts dating back thousands of years have been found. Along the way we'll unearth creative camera techniques that will enable you to discover your own personal aesthetic. As our awareness is heightened with the sights of nature, we will be able to shut off the real world and truly create! Any questions you may have based on composition, cameras, lenses and lighting are deeply encouraged during our excursion.

This park attracts many photographers from the Audubon Society as we will be able to spot a variety of seasonal wildlife including: Bald Eagles, Owls, and the majestic murmuration of Starling! At the conclusion of our journey we'll have a chance to capture those cotton candy colors of the sunset high above the Palisades. Those were the same views that once inspired America's first art movement, the Hudson River School of Painters. Before parting ways, we'll reinforce our photographic passion and the calmness you have acquired with a group meditation that was taught to me by a Thai Forest Monk.
Other things to note
Bring an open mind, an artistic eye, and a colorful imagination. Bring a camera to capture beauty without disturbing it, and binoculars for bird watching. Wear comfortable shoes and seasonal clothing.

For a majority of my life, I have been exploring the Hudson River Valley and rendering its romantic landscapes with my Rolleiflex. Immersed within local fables and forests since I was a seed, I developed a certain passion for sharing these stories with others. These days, I'm living my dream as the photographer, photo archivist and youngest trustee on the board at the Ossining Historical Society Museum. Also, I am following in my father's footsteps as Sing Sing Prison's facility photographer. The confluence of history and photography has become the building blocks to a self fulfilling life.

Where you'll be

Croton Point Park is a peninsula that is uniquely situated directly in the middle of the historic Hudson River. It features easily accessible terrain for anyone who has a hankering for otherworldly exploration. Alexis de Tocqueville has written that this region of the Hudson is comparable to the views of the French Riviera!

Adam was amazing ! I bought this experience for my parents and they were completely blown away with how personable and knowledgeable Adam was :) This was a unique experience; what my parents enjoyed most was the knowledge of the prison and the natural landscapes. Adam was really friendly, punctual and knowledgeable about what he taught. My parents rate their experience a 10/10. Thank you Adam!

Bro, Adam was intensely awesome! I didn't realize how far it would be to get to him and he literally drove up to where we were staying and created a custom hike for my partner and I. You know when things "happen for a reason"? Well, I don't know how our hike with Adam could've gotten better. We danced on the river beach, he showed us the Hudson Highlands Sentinels and how they look like mother earth, he showed us forest buddhist meditations, he showed us the hot pink sunset, and then he drove us back home!!!! it doesn't even matter if you're from Beacon, I would pay just to hang with Adam.

So we plan a trip to NY with 5 things on our list. But we wanted to see more of NY beauty. Adam came up on airbnb so we so we thought he could show us some of whats beautiful about the Hudson. So he showed us a few places, gave us a little history of these places. We enjoyed it very. Much. Adam is very personable. He threw a history a little humor our way and we walked away satisfied. Well maybe not satisfied but wanting more. I don't know what he originally planned but he changed it up a bit and showed us something amazing and beautiful and of historical interest. He did good. And he took pics of us too. Lol thanks Adam

Absolutely stunning views of nature's paradise paired up with a photo lesson like no other! Adam was a wealth of knowledge and classic charm. His knowledge of the Hudson River's history packed each photograph with allegorical inspiration. This park was a must see spot in any season! You can really feel like you're going back in time with every story. I will definitely be coming again in the Spring and Fall to follow up on my photography skills and capture changing seasons!

I was greeted by Adam and his therapy dog, a more welcoming pair I've never encountered. Adam gave me some background info on Croton Point Park's history and kept me informed throughout all the stops on the tour about various trees, birds and the local folk heroes. I felt confident in his guidance and expertise as he not only knew the physical layout perfectly but he also knew the optimal spots for the best photos. I had brought along a couple of cameras and he made suggestions as to which ones were most appropriate for the shots I was attempting. I really appreciated that he had so much inspiring knowledge to share, but the talking was balanced by giving me time to reflect, observe and take in this majestic view with only the ambient sounds of nature. Petting the friendly, approachable therapy dog did wonders for my anxiety. It was its own type of meditation, surpassed only by the meditation routine Adam guided me through while overlooking the river. It was like learning a secret language for all of me to communicate with all of nature. I think anyone who has never even meditated before will get something out of this, and the great thing is you can then practice it in your everyday life. Days later, I remain feeling renewed and connected. This tour and its host totally delivered! The snowy landscape was a sight to behold. I would like to revisit this experience in every season!
