About your host

Jim Anzide is the owner/operator of Out & About Tours, which started out as LA’s 1st & Only Gay Bus Tour in 2009. He joined forces with his friend and creative business partner, Andy Sacher who founded THE LAVENDER EFFECT® - a non-profit project of Community Partners that is Advancing the Future of LGBTQ Heritage and Culture. Jim and Andy take great pride sharing LA's role in the global movement.

About The Lavender Effect

The Lavender Effect’s Oral History Project, Educational Presentations, and Participatory Tours reach a broad audience to teach the contributions of LGBTQ and Allied Pioneers. This is a social impact experience where net proceeds help support The Lavender Effect’s mission and programs, including sharing LGBT stories with marginalized groups around the country.
This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to The Lavender Effect. .

What we’ll do

We’ll gather at Vinadoré Café in West Hollywood, owned by chef and LGBTQ family member – Denton Lai. We’ll kick things off with a mimosa and a delicious appetizer before we hit the sidewalks of WeHo! From there we'll wend our way through the area known as “Boys Town” to discover that before WeHo became an independent city in 1984, this area was out of jurisdiction of the LAPD. Some wild times…

What else you should know

Dress appropriately for the day's weather & also wear comfortable walking shoes. Hats and sunscreen are recommended - it's California. :) Bring a camera to capture some great shots!
