What you'll do

The experience I would like to share with you will start with a 30 minute drive east of Asheville. We will arrive at the trail head and begin our adventure on an easy 1.25 mile trail. Along this trail I will share with you the history of the area and discuss various plants & animals we may see as we venture along. At the end of this trail you will enjoy a lovely waterfall that will be full of people. From this point on the real adventure will begin! Beyond this waterfall is a second amazing waterfall that few people know about. The next 3/4 mile journey is difficult and involves climbing up a steep rocky hill & navigating through Rhododendron thickets. We will go slowly & carefully, but you will need to be in decent shape & have proper footwear to make it. You will be holding onto rocks, roots, & branches as we go, but I will guide you along and I am confident you will be able to make the journey! Your reward will be an amazing peaceful waterfall with a great refreshing swimming hole! There will most likely be no other people at the waterfall so we will have it for ourselves. After spending time in the cold water and having some snacks we will return to the trail head. But our adventure does not have to end here! We can either drive to Black Mountain or back to Asheville and enjoy lunch at a local brewery before departing from our wonderful experience!
Other things to note
I look forward to providing a memorable experience that you will certainly recommend to your friends & family. If you have any questions on what else you should bring don't hesitate to contact me. Clothing optional swimming is possible on the private tours, weekday bookings are best for this.

I have been hiking in the AVL area for over 5 years now and love to share my experience with visitors! I especially love waterfall hikes and ones that have a nice swimming hole. I have a horticulture degree so I know lots about the native flora & fauna as well. Other outdoor activities that I enjoy include camping, biking, photography, gardening, & scuba diving. There is nothing like getting outdoors and experiencing nature to the fullest. The Asheville area offers so much to see & enjoy and I would love to help you have an awesome experience while visiting WNC!

Where you'll be

Our adventure begins when we depart AVL, NC and drive 30 minutes east to Old Fort, NC. Here we will hike from the trail head to two beautiful waterfalls in approximately two miles distance one way (four miles round trip). We will enjoy a swim in the cold water and relax along the water's edge taking in the lovely scenery. Once back to the vehicle you will be able to select from hitting a brewery in Black Mountain or Biltmore Village for lunch.

Randy is awesome. As most would be, we were hesitant at first but immediately felt comfortable upon meeting Randy. He’s super friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and fun. The hike we had planned couldn’t have been accomplished without him. We’re so thankful for our time spent in the mountains today and the awesome brewery stop afterwards. We totally deserved it!! Next time I’m in Asheville I’ll be hitting up Randy. Thanks again.

We had a great time with Randy! The hike was beautiful and challenging and lots of fun! We definitely couldn’t have done that on our own. He showed us a lot of Asheville that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. He has a lot of information to share about local sites, nature, etc. We had a ball and highly recommend it!

This was such fun to do! My husband and I are both active and the hike was still a challenge, but in a good way. We felt safe, yet pushed beyond what we would do normally- and for quite the reward! The upper falls were magical, and we were the only ones there. ❤️. Not to mention the yummy hummus and crackers. Also Randy took us to a smaller brewery “more for the locals”- for a delicious lunch. This adventure was the highlight of our time in AVL. Highly recommend!!!! Walking down that trail, I was so proud for rising up and facing the challenge. 🎉 Thanks, Randy!

Randy is a great host! He was quick to response to my questions before booking and made meeting up easy! The waterfall hike was beautiful although I didn’t make it to the second waterfall. My boyfriend did and his pictures & videos were amazing. After the hike, we were in the mood for bbq and beers so Randy took us this spot called Moes. Let’s just say, my boyfriend and I are eating here again today LOL. I would definitely recommend this experience with Randy.

Randy was wonderful and the hike was as described, challenging but Randy was super flexible and helped us to have a truly wonderful time and adventure. Bring good hiking or trail running shoes to best enjoy the experience. Probably not best for people afraid of heights or people wearing shoes other than hiking or outdoor specific running/trail shoes.
