What you'll do

The beauty of nature with a taste of adventure !
Jeep Safari in the hills followed by a tranquil river cruise.
In between time to relax and enjoy a delicious meal.

We leave Silves and go straight into the hills. We use a classic Portuguese jeep to explore little paths and take our time to enjoy the views. Often the way will be steep so the ride is exciting as well as beautiful. There will be hills and valleys, arid and green landscapes, open views as well as dense vegetation. The first part of our journey has many ups and downs, afterwards the path is gentler with panoramic views of the Monchique hills and coastline. Along the way we stop at a few secret spots to stretch our legs and enjoy the surroundings.

I bring you to a beautiful place on the river where my boat is waiting for you. Before going aboard we enjoy a full and tasty meal at a wonderful little restaurant.

We cruise down the river Arade, and turn back as we see the open sea. Sometimes we glide peacefully along the quiet river banks ... at other times we go a little faster and feel the wind in our hair. The landscape is varied. We pass pure nature, the riverfront of Silves, the port city of Portimão, the fishing village of Ferragudo, the castle of São João and the beaches and cliffs of Praia Grande. There will be refreshments aboard and I will share some interesting historical facts about what we see.

Hello, I am Thyl (pronounced “Teel”). I have lived the last years in the city of Silves and love it! I am a nature enthusiast and in the winter months also a landscape painter. I have enjoyed many hours exploring the nearby countryside. I wish to show the beautiful landscapes I have discovered and share my local knowledge about the nature and history.

Where you'll be

The jeep safari is mainly on dirt roads, between the Arade and Odelouca river valleys, in the hills north of Silves. I will bring you with my jeep to the boat, located 3 kilometers from Silves. The river cruise is a return journey from Silves to the sea, passing through nature and the cities of Silves and Portimâo, the village of Ferragudo and along the beach and cliffs of Praia Grande.
