What you'll do
I will take you off the beaten track and away from busy tourist areas in the New Forest and show you hidden gems. You will learn about the natural habitat and what animals, plants and fungi can be found there. You will learn how to photograph the wildlife with minimal disturbance so that you get better more relaxed subjects and we can work on different techniques used to photograph smaller subjects such as flowers and fungi. I can provide as much photography help or learning as you need and as time will allow or show you what you are looking for and let you photograph them in your own way. We will meet at your accommodation or a prearranged starting point and the length of the walk can be tailored to suit your needs but generally the terrain is not difficult. Timing can be by mutual arrangement and I am not averse to pre-dawn starts for those special photos of red deer stags in the mist.
Other things to note
I can cater for any level of photography from the beginner to those looking for that competition winning entry. What we look for will be dependant on the time of year and local weather variations.
The Guided Photography Walk can be arranged for any time of day but early morning or evening are best.

I have lived in the New Forest for over 35 years and in that time I have explored the forest extensively through my interests in Photography, mushroom picking, running and cycling. This means I have developed a great knowledge of the local wildlife in terms of locations and when things happen during the year. I am a professional photographer and in addition to my paid work I still love to photograph wildlife and local landscapes. I have also been involved in sales training and athletics coaching and now run small photography workshops and provide individual tuition as well as guided photography walks.

This walk was definitely worth going on. I enjoyed every moment. Henry's in depth knowledge of the forest made the walk very special. The information and stories he told me about the deer, horses, trees and birds made it extra special, interesting and worthwhile. I will definitely come back again in the different seasons. If you want to see everything the New Forest can offer then take this walk with Henry 👍

My wife and I had a fantastic time. We started early and Henry clearly knows some great walking routes as we managed to see at least three types of deer. Henry gave us many ideas, tips and tricks on angles and positions for good shots. We even managed to pick some wild mushrooms on our journey which went down well for breakfast.

Henry was informative and helpful on the days and weeks leading up to the day and greeted us promptly at the meeting point! Throughout our time Henry’s knowledge of the wildlife, terrain, New Forest and even lighting for photographs were wonderful! He made us feel at ease and helped us see some amazing animals! It was a lovely New Forest trail with a local expert - would highly recommend

We spent an interesting afternoon with Henry photographing deer in the forest. He is very well informed about the flora and fauna of the area, is a talented photographer and was very patient with us. He communicated very well beforehand and gave good instructions about where to meet. I would have no hesitation recommending this experience to others. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
