Starting from BTS Siam Station, we will visit Pathum Wanaram Temple, which was built in 1857. Hidden among the buildings in the busy town, this is where you can make merit and experience the peacefulness amidst the bustling city.

Next, we go to the Jim Thompson House where it used to be a resident of an American who moved to live in Thailand in 1946. With his teak-wood Thai-styled houses, he collected many valuable Thai antiques and made the Thai silk industry become world-famous.

After having a lunch at Jim Thompson Restaurant, we will walk to Chulalongkorn University, the oldest university in Thailand which was established in 1917. I will take you to see the statues of two Thai Kings, the auditorium, five Chamchuri trees, traditional Thai-styled buildings and the university museum.

Then, we will walk back to MBK Center to try the best Thai coconut custard toast bread. This bakery has been opened for over 5 decades. Then, we head to Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) where you can find many artworks from both Thai and International artists. Come along with me and I will show you the other shade of Central Bangkok you have never seen before!

Sa-Was-Dee-Krub (Hello! in Thai). I’m Taro, a co-founder of TakeMeTour. My goal is to host travelers from around the world with the best authentic experience in Thailand like never before (yes, believe me!).

My best co-host (called Boat) will take you on this trip. He's been living in Pathumwan district for 35 years, and his home is very close to the Jim Thompson House. He knows every angle of this area (the history and also the best local food).

Therefore, he's proud to present that his neighborhood is not only well-known as the business area, but it’s also full of history and art. With his passion for storytelling and the experience of being Local Expert for 2 years, you will have an unbelievable experience with him!

Where you'll be

We will visit the Jim Thompson House where an American living in Bangkok who made the Thai silk well-known and collected many ancient Thai staffs in his house was disappeared mysteriously. Apart from this place, we also go to the hidden temple in the CDB, the first university of Thailand and the Bangkok Art & Culture Center.

Kititchai, our local expert was awesome!! He helped us getting insights about Thai history, it enriched our understanding about the culture. He was very considerate and very helpful, willing to answer my questions with a great explanation. We visited Jim Thompson's house and we had lunch there. It was a traditional Thai cooking with great service, it was really good!! Then he took us to the nearby district where the silk weavers used to work for Jim Thompson. We also saw one of the rarest remaining one. He took us to Chulalongkorn University which has really amazing architecture and long history. Lastly, he took us to MBK to try one of the best Thai dessert!! It was an amazing trip. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to see Bangkok from local’s perspective!

This was more than just a tour.. it was an adventure! Hansa and her husband were great people. It was a cold weather in Bangkok so our walking tour was close to perfection. The temples and greeneries in the center are mesmerizing. Our adventure was fun-filled and I felt I belonged to their culture. The Jim Thompson House, China Town, and the Monk Temples are all picturesque. They let me taste a classy and authentic Thai dish - which was mouth-watering. Overall, it was an exceptional experience. Truly, Bangkok is a wonder!

My tour guide was Kittichai. He was a wonderful tour guide. He was not just showing around the spots but also giving so much valuable information about the history and the life custom of Thai people. So I learned a lot on this trip, gaining so much insight about Thai culture. The special one was when we visited Chulalongkorn University. I enjoyed a lot the trip. Thank you so much!

Our local guide Kittichai was really awesome. He scheduled everything with great precision and picked us up exactly where he told us. We were extremely tired (we arrived the earlier the same morning) and he was so kind to slow down a little for us. He showed us a temple with a very beautiful tropical garden, which can almost be considered as a piece of jungle in the city. He gave us a comprehensive explanation about Thai history and culture, which was perfect as a first insight, since we had just arrived and knew really little about the city. Then we visited Jim Thompson's house and we had lunch there. Kittichai took us to the nearby district where the silk weavers used to work for Jim Thompson. We also saw one of the rarest remaining one. Finally Kittichai took us to Bangkok University where he explained us about the various faculties available and the graduation ceremonies. We decided not to go to MBK since we were very tired. It was a very pleasant trip!

This experience's very meaningful. I'm able to understand the history and story behind the places. Kittichai made my day memorable one, enjoyable, knowledgeable and giving outmost service and care to us. The beautiful and peaceful temple among the skyscrapers is amazing. The museum is also nice. I highly recommend him.
