What you'll do
The age-old practice of embroidery has long been a staple embellishment technique in the fashion industry. Here, students have a unique opportunity to learn all about this incredible craft and customize their own caps with instruction from Whitney Washington. In celebration of Individuality and empowerment, students will be able to choose from the options below: 1) Build A Cap: Customize your own unique cap using an inspired word or initials. 2) Build A Boob: Aligned with Breast Cancer Research Foundation: You will be able to choose from a variety of boob shapes, colors, and sizes, and design your own "NipSlip" Cap. ***You will have the option to embroider your own unique cap or "Give A Gift" to a breast cancer survivor. If you choose to give a gift, we will assign you a shape to complete for the class, then help you mail the cap to the survivor.*** - A portion of proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation - We are offering breast cancer survivors & "Give A Gift" participants 40% off, please contact the host - You will learn a variety of stitching techniques from chain stitch to backstitch. - The cap you work on in the workshop will be completed and ready to take home at the end of the lesson. - Caps, thread, needles, and other supplies will be provided. - This is a BYOB event, so let's get happy and crafty!
Brooklyn based Creative, Whitney Washington loves to get her hands dirty. Whether she's dyeing textiles, drawing lines, embroidering, sewing or beading- a project is always at her fingertips. Her work often reflects people or ideas that go against the status quo in order to evoke a feeling or ... simply to inspire. From art to textiles and home goods, Whit’s designs might pop up anywhere! Whitney has worked and trained with some of the best and now operates her own custom embroidery service in Brooklyn, NY. She is the owner and designer of NipSlip Caps, a customizable line of caps supporting breast cancer research.
All materials for completion of 1 cap are included as part of the workshop.

The workshop will be hosted by Happy Creative Dig- a beautiful, artist loft, where the host works with varies artists & creators on interesting projects.
