About your host

Raised by a Japanese tea master, I've devoted my life to the art of traditional manners and "behaving beautifully." I teach more than 300 students a year in the way of tea, and I also own a crafts gallery in Yotsuya. Feel the beauty of traditional Japanese modesty through the way of tea.

What we’ll do

You can enjoy having a dose of tea and fine sweets while I tell you about the way of tea. You’ll learn the meaning of the sequence and behaviors during the tea ceremony, and learn about the beauty in tranquility. Then you’ll experience making tea by yourself. After the tea ceremony, we'll prepare a traditional Japanese light meal called Tenshin, cooking it ourselves and setting the table together…

What else you should know

If you have white socks, please bring with you. It means respect for the tearoom. They’ll also keep you relaxed while sitting on the Tatami mats, which might tighten your legs.
