What you'll do

Originally a Christmas tradition, locals have been buying delicious sweets from Seville’s convents for centuries. Nowadays, the nuns here sell their homemade sweets to support themselves and continue to live within their convents. The recipes that they use have been passed down for hundreds of years and truly are the authentic Spanish dessert experience.

On this daytime desert tour, we will tour 5 cloistered convents in the city, where the pastry bakeries prepare pastries and other baked goods using traditional methods. We will experience two traditional ways of doing sales. We will also taste some of them and l will share with you the traditional recipes.

Behind Closed Doors – where nuns keep themselves hidden from the public eye and you have to use special greeting to buy the sweets.

Face-to-Face - displaying the sweets out in front of you to see and handle before purchasing

Sweets you can taste:
Pestinos
Magdalenes
Yemas
Almendradas
Turron a la Piedra
Pinonades - marzipan balls rolled in pine nuts
Orange marmalades

One of the monasteries has a private art collection run by nuns. This will be also included in the visit.
After the visit, you can buy some of your favourite sweets. These items would make great gifts for loved ones back home. The sweets are packaged very professionally.

I am Travel & Tourism professional and I founded Hidden Corners in Seville to share up to date tips curated by handpicked locals.

I am passionate about local products, traditional dishes, and local hidden customs, wherever I travel to. Sevilla is second my home, and the richness of its traditional cuisine and pastry always fascinated me. I always helped my boyfriend's mum and grandma cooking, getting passionate about traditional cuisine. I cannot wait to share this passion with you and make you discover Sevilla through its pastry!

I have plenty of knowledge about Sevilla and Andalusia, so you can ask me any advise/question about the town and its surroundings.

We both had a great morning with Vladimira and others in the group. It showed us a different side to Seville which we would not have discovered ourselves. Well worth taking part in this tour. Thanks

Dear Vladi Thank you from Felicia, Robert and myself for a great tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Sevilla. I brought the cookies home and my friends are fighting to eat them.

This tour was excellent. We were able to go to four different convents and taste sweets from different places. This tour is definitely the way to experience this tradition. It allows you to try the sweets without having to buy a whole packet to find out if you like them. Vladimira is lovely and the opportunity to hear from the nuns at the end was great.

This was a pleasant way to spend the morning. Eat a little protein before starting the sweet tour....and don't expect to visit with or even see the nuns. Most are cloistered and will have no interaction with you. The sweets are interesting and varied.

It was truly enjoyable. Some cookies were delicious. Vladimira was engaging and attentive. She even walked us to our bus stop and added a bathroom break for us. It was interesting for me thinking about these women’s lives.

This is such a wonderful and unique way to see (and taste) Seville. Vladimira is very knowledgeable about the history and function of the convents and was great at picking out special and unique treats at each place while still letting us feel we could change the choices if there was something we'd rather try. We were able to taste a wide variety of traditional sweets, see the different types of convents and small churches, and enjoy a causal walk through the city with interesting commentary. At the end, we divided up the extra sweets among the group to take away and enjoy later. I cannot recommend this experience enough!
