What you'll do

Catching early morning light in a wild swamp has always been one of my personal favourite moments. We are going to visit Kemeri bog just in time for sunrise - be prepared to get up really early. It is also possible to start in the evening and catch the last light of the day - you choose! Kemeri bog is a part of Kemeri National Park - 3rd largest in Latvia and is a haven for important species of flora and fauna. Bog itself has a boardwalk, which helps to visit it in a safe way. While getting lost in great outdoors and experiencing mind-blowing landscapes, you will expand your knowledge and improve practical skills on landscape photography. You will learn how to create outstanding photographs of your own unforgettable travel experiences. We are going to focus on mastering the following aspects of photography: - Using the camera - Composition - Filters in landscape photography This workshop is suitable both for beginners and more advanced photography enthusiasts, I had professional photographers taking part in my tours, who wanted to get an insight into a different field of photography. Itinerary: - Pick up at your hotel (any location in Riga or nearby - e.g. Jurmala) - Drive to Kemeri (around 45min-1h) - We will spend at least 2 hours walking and photographing in the bog (the walk itself is around 5km long) - Have a tea break - Drive back to Riga Total duration around 4

Philip

I am professional photographer based in Riga, Latvia. My fascination with landscape photography started in 2003 when I was living and studying in Estonia. After working on photographic projects in Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Israel, Portugal, India and Scotland, I have discovered that North has found a special place in my heart and settled there firmly - nothing is quite like exploring the rugged and pure beauty of Northern landscapes. I have spent 8 years living in Scotland, getting lost in the Scottish landscapes and leading landscape photography tours-workshops, where I would not only take my clients to epic locations, but also help them to master art of landscape photography. Back in Latvia I am enjoying the wonders of a rich and unique nature - wild swamps and forests, pristine coastline and mysterious lakes. Instagram @lostinnorth

Where you'll be

Our aim is to be at Kemeri bog just in time for sunrise, it often gets foggy and together with a rising sun the place looks just magical! However, it will mean getting up very early - 4-6am in summer/spring and 6-8am in autumn/winter. Sunset option is possible for those who like to stay in bed longer. Suitable for people who can hike 5km on mostly even surface (a bit of a forest road and then wooden boards).
