What you'll do

Are you ready for a great workout and a fun tour of the local area? On this experience I will teach you the dynamic walking approach that uses specialised poles and your whole body in creating a fun, functional wellness activity while also showing off my favorite local highlights.

I would love you to join me on a 90 mins walk taking in the Warwickshire/Leicestershire/Northamptonshire countryside, while I deliver not only a great stretch of the legs but some interesting facts and stories of the area.

You will become familiar with the poles through a safety talk and then I will take you through the 10 step technical pathway that I follow in a 30 minute teaching session.

Once we all have a good grasp of the technique, we set out on a 60 mins walk into the countryside where I can show you places of historical interest and ideal spots to pause for photos, including Lilbourne’s Motte & Bailey Norman Castles, Harlestone & Althorp (Princess Diana’s childhood seat), or Rugby - home of the school where the game was first played and the World Rugby Hall of Fame.
Other things to note:
Please check the weather before attending. The only weather I don’t walk in is lightning, hail and freezing rain.

‘There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!’

My love of England started when I moved here from Canada 20 years ago. As a Judo Olympian for Canada, I met my British husband, also an Olympian and it was love at first sight! (Both him and his homeland)

During a spade of rehab, I found Nordic Walking which appeals to my sense of exploring new places as well as getting the 46% more caloric output than just waking alone and using 90% of my body!

I enjoyed it so much that I did the International Nordic Walking Instructors Certification 8 years ago and have been ‘people walking’ to stay in shape ever since!

Where you'll be

Located on Watling Street, England's longest and 1st Roman Road starting in London, gives us a backdrop of earthworks, Motte & Bailey castles, and quaint, old villages and pubs!

Also, nearby Rugby is the name sake of the game and the school where it was founded. The World Rugby Museum and Hall of Fame is also located in the town centre. One walk takes us in and around Princess Diana's childhood seat at Althorp through the lovely villages.
