What you'll do

If you want to see the touristy spots but also some untouristy spots then this is for YOU! No day is the same and no animal stays in the same place, so why stick to a pre-determined itinerary?! Visit the 'must see' places but let the day's adventure unfold based on real-time animal sightings and the day's conditions.

Connect with and intimately understand one of the most productive oceans in the world whilst meeting the locals - fur seals and humpback whales, anemones & sunfish, baboons to bontebok, and don't forget the quirky African oystercatcher.

Take a breather from the rigours of travel as we slow things down, tasting the best tea & rusks in all of Cape Town (on a sheltered & secluded shoreline, far from the crowds!).
Bring a swim suit if you dare - you may be able to snorkel in a hidden rock pool as we connect with the treasury of life below the surface.

From rock pools to boulders, we’ll visit our local African penguins & Dassie at Boulders Beach penguin colony.
Then it’s time for lunch at a hidden local spot that leaves you healthy, light & very full (well priced).

Your journey will end where it began - a skip and a jump from wine estates, beaches, and the Cape Town city centre - avoiding traffic and queues everywhere you go!
Other things to note
This experience is land-based but bring a swim suit if you'd like to take a dip (if conditions allow)!

I am privileged to do what I was born to do - share my world with the world!

After completing my master’s in marine biology, I went on to establish ongoing shark research programs in South Africa and Mozambique. I now support my passions through informed tourism, working on blue chip film productions, and large marine animal research projects.

As a qualified divemaster and skipper I've spent countless hours engaged in southern Africa’s two oceans. I'm qualified in first aid, am a registered tourist guide and have worked in the tourism industry for 11 years.

From tours & travel, manatees to manta rays, I love sharing my world with friends old & new.

P.S. My favourite shark is a tiger shark, whats yours? :D

Truly a highlight of my trip to Cape Town! Justin is a total expert on wildlife, good spots to check out off the beaten path, and personalized the trip to our interests. Superb!

You could self-drive but I think you would lose out on the insight on the animals and marine life. Justin really knows his stuff and took us to places and pointed out wildlife we would never have found on our own. He obviously very passionate about marine biology and knowledgeable. We had fabulous encounter with a Baboon troupe while having tea and snacks in the National Park away from the rest of the visitors. Got our fill of penguins and saw a whole host of other wildlife and lovely dramatic scenery. The early start definitely worth it to beat the crowds.

Justin is an amazing guy. His tour was awesome and we were able to visit some of the busiest sites on the Cape feeling very leisurely and connected. The tea on Baffles beach was lovely. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a small intimate tour on the Cape with an expert.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Justin. He was informative, very knowledgeable and approachable throughout the tour. All the different locations he brought us to were equally beautiful and the tour was well-spaced out. Justin was always ready to answer any questions we had about the local wild life, which made the tour extra special. Pity we missed seeing Buffel the elephant seal, but this tour made us sure that we want to come back :) Thanks Justin for the great experience!

Had a wonderful experience! Justin was very informative and a pleasure to be with. We didn’t have to think about driving, maps or a schedule. Very personalized and at a nice easy pace. Time for enjoying all that we saw and so, creating a lasting memory of The Cape of Good Hope and surrounding areas.

Our day with Rockhopper Tours around the southern peninsula was interesting, insightful and unusual! As fairly seasoned visitors to the Cape, we like to try new activities that provide more substance that the usual tourist attraction. And Justin did not disappoint! His knowledge of marine life is extensive, and his general knowledge of Cape wildlife, botany, and history is not too shabby either. We were lucky enough to visit Buffels, the antarctic elephant seal who makes a rare appearance in False Bay from time to time. We unfortunately had bad weather for part of the day which prevented us from experiencing some of the activities...which leaves us with no choice but to do the tour again (yah!)
