What you'll do

COVID-19 Info: A leisurely small-group bike ride is the perfect social distancing activity, right? I want you to feel comfortable venturing out and spending time with me, so I’ll provide hand sanitizer, wear a mask, and disinfect the iPad I use to show photos of the sites we'll visit. The State of California currently requires masks indoors and out.

This is a 2+ hour bike tour of 3 architecturally/historically significant neighborhoods in South Palm Springs. Bus tours can't access some of these areas, because streets are narrow and corners are sharp -- which makes it perfect for biking! Quiet streets, no hills, constant sunshine, & very little traffic make for a great ride for novices or expert cyclists alike.

Note: Bikes are NOT INCLUDED, so please bring your own, or you may rent from Big Wheel Tours on S Palm Canyon.

Leaving from their parking lot, we’ll explore the neighborhoods of Deepwell Estates, Twin Palms, & Indian Canyons. During the tour, we'll see great examples of homes designed by William Krisel, Donald Wexler, Joseph Eichler, & developments created by the Alexander Construction Company. We'll also see the homes of some Hollywood celebrities. I’ll stop at specific homes to discuss their architectural and historical details, but guests are encouraged to stop anywhere along the way to take photos. As a result, duration can vary, but it's usually about 2 hours.

I am a trained Modernism Week Architecture Tour Guide in Palm Springs, and I also do volunteer tours for PS ModCom. I've been coming to the desert for many years, and I've immersed myself in the history and culture of this town and its unique midcentury architecture. I bought a 1963 William Krisel-designed home a few years ago and gave it a new life as a bright, modernest remodeled space that was featured in HGTV Magazine. I just love this town, and I want to share it! The best way to see the details of the neighborhoods and homes is on a leisurely social-distanced bike ride.

Regarding that pesky COVID-19, rest assured that I've taken the "Palm Springs Safer Together, Greater Together" destination pledge to show that my commitment to the safety of visitors, residents and employees is my top priority. More info at gpsPLEDGE.com

During our stay here, my wife and I were mainly interested in exploring the typical, colorful Palm Springs neighborhoods and this activity is just perfect for that! The whole tour was so relaxing (we got spoiled with 80 degree weather) and bikes are just perfect for getting around here. Brennan arranged for us to rent some (very well maintained) bikes at Big Wheel Tours at a discounted rate and we even got some cold waters to go from the guy at the shop, super friendly! The whole tour is really laid back. There’s plenty of photo opportunities too from start to finish. Brennan sets a perfect pace and was super considerate during the whole ride, both regarding COVID safety regulations and the rules of the road. He even took the time to show us historical photos and also photos of some of the house interiors. Stuff we otherwise wouldn’t get to see! You can really tell he’s passionate about the history of Palm Springs, its architecture & culture and he seems to be an active member of the community here. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with booking this tour! Highly recommend! Thank you Brennan for this personal and interesting activity!

We had a great time see and learning about Palm Springs with Brennan. A lot of interesting history that we would have never been exposed to.

In a word, this tour was perfect. Brennan was exceptional — super friendly, easy going, very accommodating, incredibly knowledgeable, and fun. This tour was just the right length. We saw 3 different and stunning neighborhoods. Brennan told us all about the history and architectural significance of the different homes, plus we got the insider stories from a long term resident. This was the best way to quickly feel the majesty and warmth of this magical place — I highly recommend this tour to everyone.
