What you'll do

We focus on people who are really looking for unique experiences. When a tourist goes to Comuna 13, they always follow the same route, which makes it difficult to differentiate between one tour or another. Because we know that you want to discover places that few know, but without losing the highlights, we will take you to discover parks, alleys, viewpoints, and graffiti that most tourists do not see because they do not know of their existence and other tours do not visit these places.

Also, you will have the opportunity to taste a delicious cup of Colombian coffee and the best green mango creams with lemon and salt, typical of the area.

Hello guys! I am 24 years old and I am a Political Science student at EAFIT University. When I was 12 years old I founded the NGO Club Botánico Ambiental to develop projects with a socio-environmental impact. For this reason, I have been invited as a lecturer to some of the most important meetings in the world on climate change and sustainable development such as Rio + 20, COP21 and the SDG Summit in 2015.

One of my great passions is to know different cultures, for this reason I have visited more than thirty countries where I took my Colombian flag. Then, in 2016, I founded Wayacan Tours (www.wayacantours.com) to generate experiences to discover Medellín and positively impact the communities visited, thus contributing to the sustainable development of Colombia.

Our guide Johan was amazing. I had been before, but didn’t learn about the comuna’s history until Johan’s stories and experiences growing up there. Please do yourself a favor and book this tour. It’s so different from the ones offered, where you only see the graffiti and hit a few popular places. He would stop at almost every mural and dissect its meanings with us. You could tell he loves the community and the people there. Everyone knows him!! Great vibes, so funny, and went above and beyond to help us learn and experience Comuna 13.

Great experience. Johan was an excellent tour guide and knew all the details of Communa 13, living through some of its worst times. His English was great and he was so kind, even paying my fare for the bus back and forth because I did not have change. The tour ended up being private because no one signed up for the 5pm English time slot, but Mateo clearly communicated this with me beforehand and explained the situation, charging me the rate of a private tour (25$). I appreciated this as he did not wait for me to arrive to say this and instead gave me the option to cancel beforehand. The tour was great, albeit a little shorter than I expected, but felt very personalized and genuine from a tour guide that was so nice and actually lived there. Would recommend this company for a fantastic Communa 13 tour.

So you want to see Comuna 13? Book this tour now! We highly recommend it. Our guide Johan shared his personal story as a child growing up in Comuna Trece and how the transformation of the area occurred. This tour was informative, interesting and inspiring! Be prepared to walking up steep roads, and bring some water. There are vendors throughout the tour with places to eat, etc. You should be prepared for the bus fare—not expensive, but helps if you have cash ready.
