Experience hosted by Mateo

3 hours

What you'll do

We will visit the famous Comuna 13 with a local guide, but we will not only talk about graffiti as most tours do, but also about political and social history to understand the transformation processes of this resilient community.

From the Metro station, we will take a bus to the graffiti gallery, where you can appreciate and take photos of the incredible murals that tell chapters of the history and aspirations of the neighborhood.

We will visit:
* The urban open-air graffiti gallery.
* Los Viaductos: which connect the neighborhoods and serve as a commercial gallery for local artists and one of the best viewpoints over the city.
* The famous Electric Stairs: the first of its kind in Colombia because they are public, open to the sky, and located in a neighborhood in transformation.
* Chota's Art Gallery.
* Coffee Museum.
* Neon Museum.
* Museum of the History of Comuna 13.

You will have the opportunity to taste a delicious cup of Colombian coffee and the best green mango creams with lemon and salt, typical of the sector. Then, we will return to the Metro.
Other things to note
The tour does not include subway tickets, so we recommend buying the round trip in advance. Then we will take a bus to reach the escalators which have a cost of 1,800 COP (60 cents USD).

Hello guys! I am 24 years old and I am a Political Science student at EAFIT University. When I was 12 years old I founded the NGO Club Botánico Ambiental to develop projects with a socio-environmental impact. For this reason, I have been invited as a lecturer to some of the most important meetings in the world on climate change and sustainable development such as Rio + 20, COP21 and the SDG Summit in 2015.

One of my great passions is to know different cultures, for this reason I have visited more than thirty countries where I took my Colombian flag. Then, in 2016, I founded Wayacan Tours (www.wayacantours.com) to generate experiences to discover Medellín and positively impact the communities visited, thus contributing to the sustainable development of Colombia.
