What you'll do

TWO HOURS STANDARD TOUR

TOURS AVAILABILITY-IMPORTANT: All tours offered are available upon request and are usually private. If you don’t find any dates availability, please contact me to open a date for you, min two persons. A trip to Monkey Island and Gamboa region represents one of the best wild excursions from Panama City and even better when it is a private trip with me. The meeting point will be the Gamboa public dock preferably early morning (better to explore the fauna and to be the first one on the spot to avoid the tours agencies but the timing is of course flexible). You will have to leave your hotels 45 minutes prior the agreed time at the Gamboa Public dock which is the time for the ride in Taxi or Uber. The fare shouldn’t be more than 20 dollars. If needed, I can organize the transport for you. During this tour, you will have the chance to observe the white-face monkeys, howler monkeys, and Geoffrey´s tamarinds and birds. We will observe the birds, monkeys and others flora and fauna from the boat. You will not only to get to see the flaura o fauna but also to see transiting ships on the Panama Canal, Rio Chagres River. The excursion duration is approximatively 2 hours and can Always be extended.
I will act as a captain and helps you to spot birds and other animals. I only speak few words English, however, we can exchange email in good English before your arrival

Miguel is a great guide - he is fun, kind and knowledgable. Monkey Island was fun, and Miguel knows them individually! He also took us to some lovely spots where we could enjoy the nature, and the occasional ship passing by on the canal. :-). Would highly recommend.

WOULD ULTIMATELY POSITIVELY RECOMMEND!! While Miguel didn’t speak much English you would have never known because we connected like we knew each other for years! He is definitely an expert at what he does and you can tell he loves doing it! We appreciated the fact he knew exactly where to go to interact with the monkies and we had such a great time and took so many awesome videos and pictures along the way to preserve the memories! Thanks Miguel!!!

I’ve been to over 20 countries and of all the tours I’ve been on, this was one of the best. I’ve always found that seeing animals on tours is never guaranteed but it was with Miguel. He knew where all of the best wildlife was and it was pretty easy to tell that he had already established rapport with the monkeys because they came right down from the trees when he whistled; it was actually an incredible site to see. We had some expensive camera equipment with us and he was able to make sure that we stayed dry. He even had a ride set up to take us been when the tour was done! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone staying in Panama who loves nature.

I found Miguel on a Tripadvisor review and booked a trip with him for our family of 5. Communication with Miguel was quick and easy. We wanted to visit the Embera Native Community and requested Miguel to arrange a meeting with us. He talked to the village head and arranged our visit. We visited Panama during the Corona Virus Outbreak mid March 2020 and the whole country was being shut down. Panamanian people were really friendly and we were lucky to leave before they shut down the airport. Anyway we took an Uber ($20) to Gamboa Docks where Miguel met us. It was an easy drive - I could have rented a car but the Uber was cheap enough. Miguel has a big boat which was all for us. Other tours from Gamboa Resort were full of people and were more expensive than what we paid. We went though the Panama Canal, saw big ships cruise by and finally came to a piece of land looking for monkeys. We went from small island to island along with other boats full with tourists looking for the same thing. The good thing was we had a lot of time to move from one place to another and the boat was private for us. There were not too many monkeys and the few that were there I think were well fed so didn't care about our papayas and bananas. Miguel worked really hard to find monkeys for us and finally got one to come on our boat and drink water from our bottles and eat fruit from our hands. So after 1 hour of hard work looking for monkeys we finally did what we came for. Afterwards he took us to the Embera community and we met the inhabitants, saw their dances, handicrafts, their houses and had an amazing fresh lunch made of fish and plantains. Miguel made our trip memorable and went out of the way to please us. He doesn't speak much English but enough to communicate. I would recommend to come with empty bladders as there are no bathrooms at the docks and they charged us $10 to use the bathrooms at the resort which was the only negative about the trip.

Woow! Book it! It‘s so worth it! Miguel was wonderful with us and we had the best experience in his boat. We learned so much in spanish and we had the chance to see animals we could touch and feed them. We saw many boats passing into the canal of panama. It was great! And even better when you can be alone with him because you don‘t feel like in a hurry. He even organised us a ride @home after the experience by calling a uber. He was verry friendly and nice we had such a good time! Thank you so much Miguel and hasta luego ❤️ Xenia & Simone

Best day ever!!! Riding in the boat on the canal next to the huge ships was amazing. Feeding and seeing the monkeys up close was the best part. We will loved it especially my 1 and 4 year old grandsons. One of the best experiences ever and well worth the price. Miquel was great!
