What you'll do
We’ll grab a drink (first one is included) from my favorite brewery out on the countryside. I’ll grab a cozy outdoor spot to work on our animal portraits together. You’ll pick out an animal you’d like to create a portrait of and I’ll help you find a good reference photo to use (on your phone.) I’ll share my techniques, as I make my own alongside with you. So you’ll get to see every step of the process, from sketching on a grid, to choosing a color palette, blending, and more. I’ll supply all the tools and tips necessary for you to create your watercolor piece. Afterward we can meander the pleasant property and enjoy the fresh air and atmosphere.
My name is Lori and I grew up in Western Colorado, studied Art Education at Colorado Mesa University, and taught private lessons early on. Growing older I have become obsessed with camping and immersing myself into the wild where I have found my inspiration really springs forth. As both the nature-lover and art-enthusiast, Austin drew me in because the culture here greatly intertwines those passions. Now as a local artist, the overall theme of my work is wildness and its diminishing presence in our lives, with a primary focus on North American wildlife. I am always connecting with others, exchanging stories of animal encounters, conversing about the environment, and observing the changing colors of our landscapes. And I love sharing my process of converting those inspirations into beautiful creations on paper.
One free pint of beer, glass of wine, or cider of your choosing, all of which are local.

Where you'll be
I'll be taking you down a country road to a "destination brewery" that is also a farm and apiary on a ranch-like property. You can walk around and explore the grounds where they grow some of their own ingredients used in the beer and food they serve.
