We'll explore some of the hidden treasures of the Los Angeles River's Glendale Narrows section. Full of birds, bugs and plants, it's often a particularly photogenic stretch of the river -- with the dynamic and vibrant neighborhood of Frogtown just above. A native Angeleno, I live a block from the Los Angeles River with my friends Kasha and Chase, the LA River Corgis. I love the water and nature. I grew up near the beach and serve on the County's Beach Commission. I have also taken thousands of people down the River in kayaks during the summer months when the river becomes a giant park. I love changing neighborhoods and am very active in projects related to improving the River and the area around it. I have now done dozens of these walks in the past year. Each one has been a little different, but always lots of fun and full of surprises for me and my guests from around the world. Thanks for thinking of us. And reach out if you don't see a date that works on our calendar. We will work with you.

Where you'll be

The Glendale Narrows section is the crown jewel of the mostly concrete Los Angeles River. It is green, lush and houses a variety of wildlife. The area around it is changing rapidly, with former tow yards and metal shops transforming into creative businesses and interesting restaurants and cafes. A new park is planned where a giant trainyard once was. We'll see how it all fits together, enjoying locally roasted coffee or maybe a beer on the way.
