911 Ground Zero Walking Tour

New York, United States

What you'll do

In remembrance of 9/11, this walking tour guides you through the former World Trade Center in New York, where the tragic events of 9/11 took place.

The tour is guided by New Yorkers who have a personal connection to 9/11. You will hear touching stories of tragedy and heroism from their own experience and from many other everyday citizens.

The tour will start at St. Paul's Chapel, the oldest public building in NYC still in continuous use. This church miraculously survived the falling building and debris from the 9/11 attacks despite it being only 1 block away. It became a makeshift rescue center during the aftermath and its iron fence became a bulletin board where family members posted notices of their missing loved ones.

Next, hear the heroic stories of the emergency responders at the Firefighter's 9/11 Memorial Wall, and see the Engine and Ladder Company 10/10, the fire station at Ground Zero.

Finally you'll enter the 9/11 Memorial, where you can pay your respects to those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center. See the Reflecting Absence Memorial, the largest man-made waterfall inside the 9/11 Memorial, symbolizing the vast void left by the tragedy.
Other things to note
Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts to check in with our Tour Concierge. They will be holding an orange flag.

We were very glad to have this unique experience hearing the sobering details on those tragic days... but, I would say that I expected to get more details on a tour that is about 1 specific topic for 1.5 hours.

The group size was quite large and the tour felt impersonal. I've loved every Airbnb experience I've tried except for this one, which felt more like a generic "touristy" walk without any of the special touches that I've come to love from this platform.

I had a great time meeting new people and learning about the memorial. Jared was great and he took time to explain details I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Would definitely recommend

We were able to join a tour group earlier then the one we signed up for. Kristen was our guide. Her connection with 9/11 really was helpful with the tour. To hear in her own words what it was like made an impression on us. We only knew what we heard on the news. She was able to give us real insight on what it was really like. I would recommend this tour.
