What you'll do

We'll start from the famous Basel Minster (Basler Münster), where you will learn some interesting history about this well-known landmark of the city. Then we will begin our alley walk (alley/street in German: Gasse or Gässchen), first from the Augustinergasse into the Martinsgasse. We'll pass by the Blue and White House (das Blaue und Weisse Haus). From the Martinsgässchen we'll reach the marketplace and our town hall. Through Andreasplatz (a small plaza that's considered by some as the heart of Basel) into Imbergässchen and up to the Nadleberg (do not worry, it is not a real mountain). We'll go past the Peters Church (Peterskirche) and St. Urbans fountain to arrive at Klingental for a ferry ride. Once we are on the side of the Kleinbasel, we will continue our walk along the river Rhine. We'll go past the Oetlinger Buvette, a container restaurant with a small terrace close to the water). Through Oetlinger Street we'll end up at Kaffee Frühling, where we could appreciate some different kinds of coffee. Coffee is not just brown water with flavor. It has aroma and fragrance and is just as varied as wine or beer. Let yourself be surprised. ;-)

Thomas

I've been living in Basel for over 50 years and know this city like the back of my hand. ;-) I've traveled many countries alone, and know how hard it is to discover the highlights of a city. So I would like to show you my city, the hidden beauty of Basel with its history. And because I'm a coffee junkie, there's a coffee tasting at the end.
