What you'll do

Did you know you there is a hidden tennis court inside Grand Central Terminal? And that it used to be an indoor ski slope?
Join me on this walking tour and experience the many other hidden gems and secrets hiding inside Grand Central Terminal! Close to a million people visit this iconic NYC landmark every day, yet very few know of the places you will discover on this tour. We will explore and point out parts of Grand Central unknown to most while learning about its history, preservation efforts and discuss plans for its future. You will also discover a discreetly tucked away prohibition era bar, once the private apartment of a NYC business tycoon, where many of our guests like to grab a drink after the tour...

Hi! I'm a tour guide and Chief Experience Officer at Untapped New York! Together with my awesome partners Jeff, Mandy, Gabby, Heather, Jeremy and Ashley we will host your experience! I grew up in New York and always had a passion for NYC's diverse history which I have been excited to share with locals and visitors alike for the last few years. After writing several plays about New York, I decided to take the plays out of the theaters and directly into the streets... where the stories actually happened! I can't wait to share the city's secrets with you and show you its hidden gems!

Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and professional, not an amateur (homegrown/amateure tours and guides are not always a bad thing, it depends on what one wants out of a tour)!

This was a great way to spend a Saturday and get to know NYC better - highly recommend for locals and tourists alike. Also a great COVID activity since Grand Central is quiet, it really gives you the space and opportunity to get some great photos and soak it in without commotion around you. Justin is a great storyteller and has really done his research on the history - highly recommend!

I love trains and booked this tour in a last minute trip to NYC. Justin was a great guide. Very informative, the Bluetooth earphones were a great touch, they made it very easy to hear him. I'm definitely going to look in to Untapped NY.

What a great way to get to know the history of Grand Central Terminal, as well as other interesting NYC facts! This tour was super informative! Our guide knew EVERYTHING and more! We started in the main atrium, walked outside, walked near the tennis courts (you can’t actually see them) and the glass walkway (you can’t walk through it), stopped in front of Grand Central’s most famous restaurants and more. Listening devices made it easy to hear every word while maintaining a safe distance. Photos also provided historical reference. The guide was a great storyteller but also put emphasis on making sure we knew the facts and not just a great story. I would recommend this to anyone with a general interest in architecture or wanting to learn more about NYC history.

This was a fantastic informative tour that kept the pace going. We’ve lived and worked in NY so we were fascinated to learn new things about Grand Central . Perfect for tourists or Locals. I really enjoyed doing this during the pandemic as the station was less crowded and safety protocols were in place
