What you'll do

When you arrive at my rural home you will find ample parking. I will greet you and we will walk a short distance to the studio where you will find a newly constructed 600 square foot building. My studio is a workspace where we will create your unique painting.
We will work from a painting of "Old Baldy," a local landmark, a rock face where rock-climbers climb and hikers hike.
A photo of the escarpment will also be used as a reference for the painting.
You will receive a blank 16 inch by 20 inch canvas, acrylic paint, use of easel, palette, brushes, aprons, and all other materials necessary for this workshop.
You will be guided from start to finish and given both guidance and a gentle critique.
I will speak about perspective, colour theory, how to start a painting, and other concepts relating to this subject.
The painting will be dry enough to transport home at the end of the lesson.
All cleanup will be left for me to do.
Other things to note
There is a possibility of getting paint on your clothing. It may stain even if washed off quickly.
Although some guests with moderate disabilities have made it to the studio, it is not wheel chair accessible and may give people with limited mobility a difficult challenge.

I am an artist creating artwork for exhibition for over 40 years. I inspired students in the public school system as an award winning teacher for 25 years. After retirement I started my business Wildwood Art Adventures and continue to bring the love of art and painting to my community. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Guelph in 1981. After several solo art shows and exhibitions, and years of studio work I returned to university to gain my education degree and start a career teaching children the joy of art. I paint landscapes, birds, flowers, and people. My work is featured in several of the local galleries.

Where you'll be

My studio is recently constructed in a garden/forest setting. The pond beside it is home to frogs, water lilies, and is visited by a variety of birds. The 600 foot structure has a north wall reaching 16 feet with 5 windows bringing in light. My artwork covers much of the wall space making it as much a gallery as a studio. In my studio I have taught individual students, small groups, and hosted life drawing, and children's birthday parties.
