What you'll do

My plan is to welcome you at Marina do Freixo where you will be offered a welcome drink (port wine/sparkling wine) together with some almonds (local product). From here we will begin our navigation always in a very relaxed and safe pace.

You will see the Palacio de Freixo, just next to the marina. We then cruise downstream the river where you will see the 6 bridges that connect Porto to Gaia.
The first metal bridge that you will see is the one designed by Gustav Eiffel (Maria Pia Bridge), followed by Infante Bridge and the landmark of the city, D.Luis I bridge, designed by Teofille Sierig. Right after the bridge you will admire another Unesco world heritage site since 1996, Ribeira and Gaia riverside, where the port wine cellars are located.

Further downstream you will see the very pitoresque fisherman village, S.Pedro da Afurada, the Natural reserve of Cabedelo and the very charming Foz Velha.
We will keek up our route towards the Atlantic Ocean where in some parts of the day you can see the local fisherman on their way to the ocean, to start or finish their working day. Sometimes we can even see some fisherman fishing next to the river mouth.

The most special part of the day to see the river mouth, Foz, is at sunset, in my personal opinion.
During the navigation I totally recommend you to have your cameras ready because there will be fantastic photo opportunities.

This experience takes around 2 hours and in this time span you will learn and enjoy this beautiful region that attracts thousands of people year after year.
Join me and see Porto and the Douro River in a unique way!
Other things to note
Since we will be sailing towards the ocean, it is advisable to bring a light jacket or cardigan as it usually gets a little cooler by the sea.

Hi, my name is Paulo and since a young age that I am privileged enough to be able to enjoy the gorgeous Douro River where, in my early days I rowed with passion and enthusiasm or fishing my favorite fish, Seabass!

Life gave me the possibility to travel around the world and meet wonderful people that shared with me the same passion for my city and for my country which triggered the interest to create this experience in order to show and share my passion with all of you! This is my hometown, the place that saw me growing up and in a very intimate, private and special way, I am honored to show you!

I am a licenced Ocean yacht master and I have the know how, experience and knowledge to provide a moment to be remembered!

Where you'll be

During this experience on the Douro River, we will pass under the 6 emblematic bridges of the city, Freixo Bridge, São João Bridge, D. Maria Bridge, Infante Bridge, D. Luís I Bridge and Arrabida Bridge, followed by Ribeira Porto and Cais de Gaia, where you can watch the Port wine cellars.
We will still see the romantic Foz Velha and the Molhe Lighthouse, in Foz do Douro and, if the weather permits, we will enter the ocean and from there see the whole city.

This was the best! Really enjoyed the intimate experience with Paulo and his boat. Beautiful evening ride on the Douro complete with good conversation and sparkling wine. I enjoyed the scenery and my husband enjoyed talking boating and fishing with Paulo. Will do this again next time we are in Porto!

100% recommend! Amazing time! The marina is behind the museum you see from the road, walk behind it to the right and you'll see the boats, a restaurant, etc. It's a bit hard to find so keep this in mind. We walked there and it was a long walk, probably best to take a car, either way, keep in mind it's a hidden gem. Paulo was a lovely host!

It was such a lovely experience, Paulo had funny interesting stories and gave us some lovely wine. We're so happy we chose this experience rather than the typical boats full of tourists. Paulo took a lot of great pictures of us and even gave us a speaker to play our music on. Highly recommend!!!!

Paulo's boat tour was a perfect sunset ride in the Douro. We got to see Porto from a different view and we loved the private nature of our trip. We also received a great taste of sparkling wine and Port. The port was actually made by a local friend and tasted amazing!

Absolutely loved this, better than the crowded touristic boats. We stopped for some nice photos during the trip plus the wine kept flowing! Paulo was very accommodating when I was running a few mins late. Would highly recommend!
