What you'll do

In one of the coolest and most pleasant neighborhoods of São Paulo, we will stroll around some of my favorite local craft shops, where I will assist you in the task of finding genuine indigenous art from Brazil. We will be visiting specialized places that respect authenticity and value the artisans work with fair trade policies, while marveling at the work-pieces, listening to the vendors’ knowledge and stories and talking about the indigenous roots and presence in this cosmopolitan metropolis.

Catarina

I am an academic researcher living in São Paulo. My background is in visual arts, and I am part of the local urban sketching community, a non-profit group dedicated to foster on-location drawing practices. Before settling here, I have lived in Portugal (my home country) and studied in Italy and Japan, where I have completed my PhD, curating art and architecture workshops since 2016. I love to draw, to eat, to walk and I am more than happy to share with you all the little secrets I have found out about this bustling city!

Where you'll be

Everything will take place in the pleasant and leaf covered streets of Pinheiros hip neighborhood and its lovely handcraft stores. According to the plan, we will visit: 1 miniature boutique with craft goods from all over Brazil, 1 huge storage house, 1 of the first ever fair-trade handcraft shops in town and 1 specialized shop in basketry.
