What you'll do

This is a deep dive into the art of photography. Your photography. We'll spend 4 hours together going over the principles of great work, specifically designed around your level and the type of photography you want to do. We'll touch on everything, from equipment to how to see the world like a photographer; including light, composition, lens choice and working with talent. We'll look at the masters work as we go and you'll gain an understanding of how to see the world specifically for the purpose of creating unique stunning images in your own style. I will also be available after our session to look at your final images with you, through email, and offer selection and post-processing advice.

Learn more about Josh

Josh

I left a long and successful career as a Creative Director in advertising, where I worked on commercials and campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the world, to pursue my passion for photography. Today, I do deep, engaged documentary photography assignments that have taken me inside with a Major League Baseball team for three weeks, on tour around the world with a rockstar, inside tents on Skid Row and traveling around the country on assignment to document American workers. I photograph events, like ComiCon, CES, the LA Marathon, Luftgekuhlt and many others and I also do fine art photography, having recently won Top Honors at The Spider Awards in the Fine Art category. I teach documentary photography at UCSD, am an Artist-In-Residence at CalArts and a Leica Akademie Instructor.

Things to keep in mind

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be canceled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Communication policy

Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the Airbnb website or app.

Guest requirements

Up to 2 guests ages 18 and up can attend.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

More tips

We can discuss camera and lens before the session, but most likely I'll be recommending one camera and one lens for our workshop.
