What you'll do
Belgrade's history is long, intricate and, let's face it, often complicated, so you don’t want to listen to the usual touristy nonsense about it. This is your one visit to Belgrade so I want you to get things right. No sugar-coated platitudes but real history and real Belgrade –good and bad.
On this tour we will focus on history and the way it shaped Belgrade, its streets, buildings and people. We will meet in the very center of the city, on Trg Republike (Republic Square), and then progress through the core of the city seeing remains of previous centuries and epochs, from the Roman to the Ottoman. Next we will visit Kalemegdan Park and the very heart of Belgrade, its Fortress. The last leg of our tour takes us through the quiet historic neighborhood of Dorcol. If you have time and haven't run out of questions we can sit for a drink at the end of the tour and continue our chat.
In order not to waste time stopping, I will bring refreshments.
Other things to note
Though we will do our best to adjust to your pace, bare in mind that there might be other guests on tour. The pace is easy, but it is two hours of walking and standing (only occasionally sitting). There are a few ups and downs and two shorter stairways.

Born and raised in Belgrade, I'm a Master of Central European history, author of the best-selling travel guide about Serbia and, last but not least, a licensed tour guide for Serbia with six years of experience. I got my MA in history from the University of Belgrade and then went on to get a BA (again in history) from the Central European University (Vienna). Since 2013 I’ve led numerous groups and individuals working with companies such as MIR, Ace Travel, Martin Randall, etc. I have written a number of books. First of all, guidebooks for Belgrade, Serbia, Montenegro and I’ve co-authored a guide for Slovenia. These books have been re-printed numerous times and have now sold over 35,000 copies. I have also co-authored a book about Serbia’s national drink, rakija. My newest book, on Serbian churches and monasteries, will be out in October.

Where you'll be
We will walk along Belgrade's touristy and untouristy streets and you will see details that you would otherwise miss for sure. Details that tell stories, stories that explain the past, present and perhaps future as well. We will observe the Danube from ancient ramparts, see Roman walls, Ottoman mosque, several intriguing monuments and a one of a kind church.

Really fantastic tour to run through the history of Belgrade. Vladimir was knowledgeable and answered many questions I had. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an interesting historical overview of Belgrade. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Vladimir was absolutely extraordinary. His deep knowledge of history went far beyond the anecdotal or curious: he made us all understand the bigger picture, the many implications of a complex story. He is extraordinarily qualified - it was an engaging, often humorous but always meaningful experience. I do plan to stay in touch with him and see him again next time in Belgrade!

More then information, he told us a real story. He is witty and wise, and we highly recommend his tour. You will learn lots in a fun way! He’s a historian who knows how to share his deep knowledge. The time we spent with him far surpassed our expectations. You could tell he had put time and effort preparing for his tour.
