What you'll do

Expect these mini forest bathing retreats to last about 90 minutes. They take place along gentle trails or less-traveled paths, by streams or lakes; they may even take place at an arboretum or university campus. Every walk begins with an orientation and preparedness. Through a series of invitations, we'll open our senses and connect more deeply with the world around us. Invitations are based on the season, the location and the individual or group needs. Between invitations, we circle and share what we're noticing. At the end of every walk, we gather for a foraged 'tea' ceremony, creating community and bringing the experience to a close. Walks held in arboretums & preserves always have a generous percent of the fees donated back to them.

Linda

As Long Island's first certified Forest Therapy guide, I strive to create an individual experience for everyone on my walks, whether it be a private coaching walk, public walk, a walk for young people & families, or adding value to corporate retreats. Each and every walk can enhance how we go about our daily lives, personally and professionally. My certification as a forest therapy guide comes from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs, or ANFT. I am a Master Naturalist and NOLS wilderness first aid trained. A certified life coach since 2001, management and leadership development is in my blood, and that translates to the systems thinking approach that a forest can offer. The forest is also the perfect way to boost your cognitive function before meetings or interviews or relax after stressful events.

What's included

Drinks
A Forest Therapy tea is a natural infusion of native plants and trees. Seasonally, I serve Douglas Fir Spring tip tea, Linden…

Where you'll be

Each location has unique history and features. Bailey Arboretum has the Dawn Redwoods, thought to be extinct until the 1940's. Bayard Cutting Arboretum has Mrs. Cutting's teahouse on Breezy Island. Sands Point Preserve has the beach and the pond, as well as an antique bridge. Each is unique and I've created the best experience at each of them! This experience is at Prosser Pines Preserve, home to a white pine forest that began in the 1750's.

Things to keep in mind

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be canceled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase.

Communication policy

Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the Airbnb website or app.

Guest requirements

Up to 10 guests ages 16 and up can attend. Guests should be comfortable in a cultivated, yet natural setting. Insects, small animals are all part of being outdoors. Your guide will alert you to any specific environmental concerns, such as poison ivy…

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

More tips

We walk short distances with sharing circles in between the invitations. Some people like to share more than others; some don't like to share at all. We are always respectful of everyone's way of being in nature.
