What you'll do
I provide transportation within Victoria if required (minimum of 2) . We will meet at the parking lot of the mountain where I will explain the various forest zones, what to expect on the hike and the First Nations history of the mountain. We will then proceed to make our way through the forest, stopping at various locations for wildlife locations, enjoying the variety of flora and viewing the hidden vistas that only locals will know. There is a steeper rocky section for about 10 minutes, overall uphill is about 30 minutes and then the rest is flat or downhill. We will stop at the top for pictures and a snack and water break. Then a leisurely walk down through a fern forest (ferns taller than people) and back to the start.
Trish has been passionate about healthy living and the outdoors for as long as she can remember and has lived in Victoria her entire life. She graduated from the University of Victoria in a kinesiology degree and pursued outdoors and healthy living as a career. Her friends will tell you how much she's inspired them to enjoy the outdoors around Victoria as she regularly invites them to join her in hikes, trail riding and even adventure trips in the U.S. For this reason she developed Foggygirl Adventures to share her knowledge of travel and exercising safely to others. She is a former national team runner and is currently a Race Director for one of the biggest 10K events in Canada, the TC 10K. Her passion and knowledge of the area will create a memorable experience for anyone coming to Victoria for the first time.
A snack and water bottle will be provided. Please advise if you have allergies for the snack.

Where you'll be
Tours are conducted on the multitude of trails that only locals know inside and out on Mount Douglas, or as the First Nations call, Pkols meaning the "beginning of time" for the Coast Salish people. As a local and expert in this area, I know every corner and bump and where local wildlife, sea-life or unique flora are most visible. This is home to redtail hawks, bald eagles, owls, turkey vultures, hummingbirds and the red-headed woodpecker.
