Family doc, soldier/veteran sharing 10th floor condo overlooking Lake Michigan. Landmarks visible include the Museum of Science and Industry, Rainbow Beach, White Sox Park. Guest bedroom w/ lock. I do have two senior minpin dogs who spend most of time at the dog sitters. Steps away from the beautiful lake shore path, very close access to the bus downtown and Divvy Bike Share. When not cloudy, the sunrises are spectacular. Parking spot avail upon req, kitchen/liv room/ balcony access
Clean, private, peaceful space and energy Private master bedroom with queen sized bed and lock on door. Guest bathroom only accessible through this bedroom. Balcony and living room overlook Lake Michigan. My hosting style is to give guests space and privacy. I generally give my indoor parking spot and garage door opener. The neighborhood by the lake is safe. The view is lovely and during sunrise is spectacular. I have two senior rescue miniature pincers who are at dog sitter's more than home I stay pretty busy between my job, my son (with me intermittently), volunteer activities, and the national guard. I give guests privacy and space but im open to giving advice on where to go in this great city.
South Shore/Hyde Park is and up and coming area. President Obama's library is going right next door in Jackson Park and there is a plan to redevelop/combine the South Shore Culture Club and Jackson Park golf courses. Nevertheless, this is the south side of Chicago so to be safe I recommend going north to Hyde Park for groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, etc and not venturing west (outside of a few blocks) or south. There are two busses (the 26 and the 6) which are steps away from building entrance. The 6 will roll through Hyde Park and is a slower but more interesting ride. The 26 has just a few stops beyond the nearby stop. Uber is also quite reasonable. I do have dogs, they spend more time at the sitters than at home but if you're allergic to dogs this probably is not the place for you.

South Side Sunrise (master bedrm with private BR)

This room is in the lower level of Fort Washington, a Richardsonian Romanesque mansion. Brick/Limestone walls create a cozy room a perfect retreat after a long day in Chicago. Sleeps up to 4 people on the king bed with sleeper sofa. If you are driving, easy unmetered street parking is readily available for those coming by car. Full size kitchen, multiple living/outdoor areas, and laundry machines are available for use as well with this room. A smartTV with Netflix is also available.
The space is in an old victorian era (c.1895) limestone/brick mansion located on Chicago's west side in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. It overlooks Washington Blvd. For basic essentials there is a CVS pharmacy about 2 blocks away, with all public transit options (train, bus, bike share) available about a block away. The entire home except remaining private rooms are available. This includes the kitchen, dining room, billiards room, parlor, laundry room, and of course common bathrooms. Both myself and Austin live at the house. He's generally at home during the day and as I work a full time job, I'm usually found in the kitchen in the morning and after 6pm on weekdays. Since it's a big house, there is a chance we may never cross paths during your stay. But I'm always available via messages/phone, so if anything comes up, let me know! I assume everything is going well unless it's brought to my attention. We are all happy to provide advice on where to eat, how to get around, and where to shop, just ask!
The area itself is undergoing urban renewal, and it still has a majority minority population. If this is something you'd be uncomfortable with, I'd recommend to book elsewhere so as to avoid an awkward situation for both of us. That said it's very close the conservatory, is a great deal for the safe/savvy traveler, and close to nearly everything. You'll need to order delivery or take a train to get to great restaurants, but it's all less then 30 minutes away. Access to mass transit is excellent! We are one block from the Conservatory, one block from the Green Line (in between the Conservatory and Kedzie stations), one block from a Divvy bike share station, and one block from the nearest bus stop. It will take you about 20 minutes to get downtown via the train (the station of which is ~1 block away) or about the same amount of time (and ~$10) using Uber. The house is about 45 minutes from either airport using public transit. Street parking is generally available, and if you have an electric car, free level 2 (J1772) charging is available on premise. There is an outdoor charcoal grill along with a small patio area. There is some outdoor seating available, or you can always relax on the front porch in the evenings as most of us in the house do. Additionally, there are some beehives installed in the yard, they are very docile/domestic bees and have yet to sting anyone on premise. One of the beekeepers on site would be happy to give you a tour of the hive if you were interested!

The apartment is located in Pilsen a very artsy neighborhood, close to the University of Illinois, Rush Hospital, Northwestern Memorial. It is close to downtown. The apartment is sunny, bright and very comfy. The bedroom is the back of the space with a balcony.
