Small one bedroom (although there is no room door). It is an in law unit, but separate from the big house in front. Walking distance to downtown San Rafael and transit center. This is not a party pad as it's small and in a quiet neighborhood, but very close to the best bars and restaurants Marin has to offer.
Cozy space, but has many amenities like washer dryer and fully stocked kitchen.

Welcome to the warmest feeling in a rustic cozy house located in downtown San Rafael near all transportations, very close to the freeway entrance and has a parking of your own. The bathroom is shared. We barely see each other as my schedule is hectic. Enjoy.
Simple and Rustic looks. Great place to relax and unwind inside in the room with very comfortable bed if you can forget the cars passing by:) The floor is clean. It looks faded, old, varnished unevenly but not dirty.
It's right in downtown. Shops are a few blocks away. Safeway is only one block. Really convenient and you have your own designated parking.

Tucked into the end of a rustic lane is Diamond House a mid-century modern hillside home in a nature-filled setting; so named because of the unique diamond shaped plan of the main house. Your newly renovated, attached guest suite has a private entry separate from the main house, spacious bedroom with sitting area and en-suite bath. From the small private deck you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee in the quiet, natural setting. Any and all guests who appreciate quiet and nature are welcome.
Ideal for a couple, or business-person working in the area. Very convenient to downtown San Rafael, Dominican University, transit or outdoor activities in nature. New queen size bed, new bathroom, coffee maker and microwave provided. Renovations on the spacious suite (nearly 300 square feet/28 square meters) are just completed with a focus on Eco-friendly methods: wool batt insulation, double-paned windows, low VOC paints, energy efficient LED lights and recycled clear heart redwood decking. A new bed and all new bathroom with European style fixtures and corner shower (no tub) are ready for your visit! The super secluded nature-filled setting is convenient too, just a 10 minute walk to downtown San Rafael with its vibrant live music, food and craft brewery scene. Centrally located, you can venture out to hike Mt Tamalpais (Mt. Tam to the locals) head to Point Reyes and Stinson Beach, or hop onto nearby highway 101 to drive to the redwoods or the Sonoma and Napa Valley wine country—just 45 minutes by car. And Dominican University is only a mile away. If your stay brings you here on a Sunday, enjoy the Civic Center Farmer’s Market--one of the largest in California-- focused on organic produce. Bring you bike and enjoy a mountain full of trails, or ride into San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. The Larkspur Ferry is a 15 minute bike ride away. High-speed ferries will get you to the City in 35 minutes and is a beautiful ride. Or drive to Fisherman’s Wharf in 25 minutes.
San Rafael, CA, 94901 United States Seems like San Rafael is a half an hour to everywhere (give or take)…Sonoma, Napa, San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland are within 30-35 minutes. Depending on the traffic you can be in Stinson Beach and Muir Woods in roughly 20 minutes. Downtown San Rafael and the Golden Gate Transit bus station are just a few blocks away, as is the freeway entrance (101 north and south). We have a wonderful Art house cinema in town. You may recognize the façade of the Rafael Theater from the film American Graffiti. George Lucas is a great patron of the arts here, and San Rafael has blossomed with artist studios, shops and restaurants. The well-known Sol Food Restaurant, serving delicious Puerto Rican food, is just a few blocks away. (Watch out for the lunchtime lines!) Another favorite restaurant, Terrapin Crossroads, owned by Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, has a fabulous outdoor patio right on the water and is perfect for Spring or Summer meals alfresco. (The music’s not bad either.) During the summer months 4th street shuts down on Thursdays for a lively, early evening Farmers Market. Speaking of which, there is also a year round Farmers Market at our famous Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center on Sunday mornings that many locals make a Sunday morning ritual. This market is hard to beat. It’s huge with amazing food vendors, coffee, crafts, bouncy houses and every farm selling gorgeous seasonal fare. Pick up your picnic supplies here and head out on an adventure! Enjoy! If Shakespeare is your thing, during the summer months the Marin Shakespeare Festival performs at the Forest Meadows Amphitheater on the Dominican University campus, which is also just a few minutes away by car.

A small room with a queen size bed. Very bright. The place is located in downtown. If noise doesn't bother you, then the room is perfect. This room is the quietest in the house although you can still hear the cars passing by. The bathroom is shared. I am rarely seen as my schedule is hectic but you can reach me anytime. You will have your own refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker are in the corridor where the common space is.
It's very convenient. Safeway is across the street. Restaurants are within walking distances. Hospital, bus stations, hair and nail salons are all within walking distances. The house has a parking for each guest. The room is small with queen size, the floor is unevenly varnished, still the old faded wood cleanly mopped every check out but it looks dirty.
I love this location because it's so close to the retreat center. There's a lot of yoga places, restaurants, salons for women, bars with musics, bus stations and easy for Uber to get access and park right in front of the house.

The room is bright and sunny. It can be noisy because of the street traffic. The house is located in downtown where you can find yoga studios, restaurants, movie theater, coffee shops and grocery stores nearby. The bus stations to go to east bay, South Bay and North Bay are three blocks away and the new train to go to North Bay as well. It is really a treat for me to be in San Rafael as everything is within a walking distance.
The backyard is not accessible as it is in the process of remodeling. Therefore, it’s safe not going there. You might be locked out as well and nobody can open the door.
There are a lot of yoga studios, a movie theater, a lot of restaurants, coffee shops and boutique clothing stores nearby. My favorite is to go to Whole Foods for a five minute walk from the house.

Marin County has the Pacific ocean, miles of the SF Bay, unsurpassed scenic hiking and biking. May require small deposit depending on stay. I have lived in this house for 30 years so have a wealth of knowledge of things to explore. Email me with any additional questions. I live directly above your space and am very conscious of any noise or things bothersome. I use my headphones for music/TV most of the time. Although you may occasionally hear me (and I will hear you) I will ALWAYS try my best to be sure you don't. You probably will not see me or my family unless you want to! You can text/call me on my cell 24/7 for anything. ............................................................ This space is below our living area. We are quiet and respectful of our guests, but you will probably hear us moving about at some point during your stay (and likewise, we will hear you). If you are not familiar with Ran Rafael, it is easiest to plan a first arrival in daylight but not absolutely necessary. The streets to my house are winding, hilly, and narrow and some visitors find them challenging to navigate at night. But if you use the maps provided it should be fine. It is private, quiet, and peaceful. A little info for first-time visitors to the SF bay area: - San Rafael is close to SF, but not actually part of the city. In fact, we are across the Golden Gate Bridge from SF, in Marin County (also called the "north bay"). It is less than 15 miles to downtown from our house, but can take longer than you might expect with the bridge and city traffic. Many guests stay with us to enjoy the green space and beauty of Marin (trails, paddling, Mt Tamalpais, Muir Woods, Angel Island, Stinson beach, SF Bay, Pacific ocean) but still with easy access to the city for some sightseeing there. A MUST DO- TAKE THE LARKSPUR FERRY TO SF! - There is excellent public transit between San Rafael and SF, and adequate transit around Marin County. The local ferries are an excellent way to sight see and great mode of travel. The most convenient/frequent schedules run M-F, and directed at commuters. Weekend schedules require some planning. There is no late-night service to & from SF. - There is little to no effective transit directly between Marin and other parts of the bay area (i.e. east bay, etc). You would have to go through the SF and this makes for a long trip. BART does not service the north bay at all. - SFO is convenient to reach via transit or driving. So is Oakland convenient by car, but difficult to get to by public transit from here. Both airports have door-to-door shuttles . Recent National Article ranking San Rafael as a top, "small city". San Rafael Cracks ‘Most Exciting Small Cities’ Rankings Marin’s Mission City ranks 11th in a national real estate research survey conducted by (URL HIDDEN) Posted by Gideon Rubin (Editor) , Decemb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) at 02:29 AM 1 Comment Recommend If you like live music and can’t stand endless parades of fast-food joints, you’d be hard pressed to find a better small city in the United States than San Rafael. That’s according to an online research report published earlier this week by (URL HIDDEN) headlined “These Are the 10 Most Exciting Small Cities in America.” San Rafael just barely missed the top 10, polling 11th overall. The article includes a list of the top 50 most exciting small cities out of a 140 with populations between 50,000 and 60,000. Movoto judged the cities in six categories categories (live music, fast food, nightlife, active life, non-fast food percentage and young residents). San Rafael is among six California cities to make the top 50 and ranks the highest overall in the state according to the poll. Petaluma, which ranks 34th, is the only other Bay Area city to make the list. The other California cities mentioned are National City (32nd), La Mesa (33rd), Gardena (38th) and Arcadia (47th). Hoboken, N.J. topped the rankings that appear to have a heavy East Coast-tilt. Only two of the top 10 cities are west of the Mississippi (No. 6 Manhattan, Kan., and No. 9 San Marcos, Texas). San Rafael was ranked No. 3 in the live music and non-fast food percentage rank, and is the eighth most active city according to the poll.
Great upscale neighborhood overlooking San Rafael that is very safe, private, sunny but with lots of trees. This location is also just minutes from the freeway to travel in any direction. If possible look at the options of, "Map and Street view". They give you a sense of the wonderful area!

The office room of the house feels like being in a tree house and is adjacent to the open living room. It's a tiny sanctuary.
It like being in a tree house cabin. Located adjacent to living room so if super privacy isn't an issue then it's a comfortable cozy stay.
Quite tree lined street. There's white noise from the freeway, but not bad, and I don't like noise. :)
