Welcome to the best place to stay in Charleston! Our freedman's cottage has been completely renovated. Complete luxury. The best finishes. EASY walking distance (1-3 blocks) to everything you want to do and see downtown and only 6 miles to the beach. Our charming cottage lives big and can be made into a one or two bedroom home as illustrated in the pictures. Stay on a convenient and quiet side-street and walk to all of the great restaurants and shopping on the world-renowned King Street!
This cottage was built in 1850 and is an example of a “Freedman’s Cottage.” Freedman’s cottages are one-room wide, single-story dwellings with side piazzas and a gable roof. They are occasionally described by architectural historians as a subset of the Charleston single house. The cottages are considered a prime example of “vernacular architecture,” a term for architecture which reflects local needs, traditions, and construction materials. Many cottages have been identified as being built in clusters by developers for rental in the years following the Civil War. There is an ongoing debate as to whether the term “Freedman’s Cottage” is a valid description. Originally these houses were considered solely inhabited by newly freed slaves. Recent literature contends the phrase is a misnomer as the homes were built and occupied by people of many ethnicities. For this reason, many refer to these homes as simply “Charleston cottages”.
This residential section of downtown is quiet and safe, and extremely convenient to everything. It is one block from Meeting Street and East Bay Street and two blocks from King Street and the College of Charleston. Short walk across the street to the Gaillard Center where concerts and special events are hosted regularly, and the farmer's market each Saturday morning is also just a block away held in Marion Square. One unique benefit for our guests (and something first-timers to downtown Charleston should strongly consider when booking a home for their vacation) is that our cottage has private off-street parking for up to two vehicles in the driveway located directly adjacent to the front door. City parking is VERY limited, as most downtown homes were built over one-hundred years ago, when parking was not prioritized during construction. As a result, parking is at a premium downtown, and neighborhood street parking is heavily permit-enforced. Our guests have the luxury of parking side-by-side with the cottage for easily unloading bags. And once you're parked, you're so close to everything, you may not need your car the rest of your stay!
  • A perfect place to stay in to explore downtown Charleston!!

    Nicki2019-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start? We absolutely LOVED Stacey's cottage in the heard of downtown Charleston. The location was a dream (blocks from King St.) on a super quiet street. The love & attention to detail that Stacey put into restoring this historic home (1870 I believe) was a true labor of love. Oh that shiplap! Oh the kilim rugs! The bamboo touches. Seriously, she NAILED it. Outside of the home itself, working with Stacey was a breeze. She is so thoughtful. There were some storms in town during our visit & the wi-fi was down. She went out of her way to offer to bring over an extra cell phone (to be used as a hot stop). She even brought over extra paper towels. She went OUT OF HER WAY to make sure that our stay was as relaxing & comfortable as it could be. Only wish we had booked a week instead of 2 days. We are already planning our next trip!

  • Cottage is in a great location, we walked everywhere. Every question we had Spencer responded immediately. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Loved your villa. It was close to everything and a very sweet space. I spoke with Victoria when we arrived and she was incredible! Everything was lovely. We loved the style, upgrades and the cozy space was perfect. Thank you again for having us!!

  • We had an absolutely fantastic stay. Charming cottage, perfect location (we walked everywhere), and adorably decorated. Spencer & family were very easy to communicate with.

  • This is a great cottage! Very well located for work and play. The place is adorable with loads of charm. Our family had a great time staying here. The hosts were very helpful and I’d definitely recommend both them and the cottage.

    Alison2018-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable cottage with good location- lots within walking distance. We liked the fact that the living area with sofa bed could be closed off for a private second bedroom while still having the spacious kitchen to gather in. The kitchen featured high quality up to date appliances. Great for family get together. Hosts were responsive and helpful.

  • The main door is behind a building past a main driveway to the right. The door is unmarked so it was confusing at first. You cant find it unless you park, get it and search behind the building. The door and tiny studio is right next to the main outdoor staircase of another building. YOU WILL hear each person that walks up and down the staircase. The studio apartment is not close to the main areas or attractions. You will have to drive. The area feels shady. Does not feel like the safest area. Probably wouldn't book again with my two young kids. But if your looking just for a clean place to rest your head after a long night - this place is for you. It's tiny but clean and has parking.

  • I was only in Charleston for 1 month and I cannot think of a more perfect place. I had more than enough space to put my clothes and belonging and cozy seating to host a few friends for cocktails. The location is exactly one block from King Street and the area is very safe and well lit. I easily immersed myself in the downtown Charleston way of life after only a few short hours. Highly recommended for extended stay or professionals hoping for a convenient and stylish space.

  • Place is in a great location right off King Street. Nearly everything worth visiting in downtown Charleston is walking distance. As for the place itself, although it is cozy, it has everything you need and was perfect for me and my girlfriend. Definitely recommend staying here

    Paul2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Allie’s place was perfect for a three day getaway in Charleston. The cozy, quaint studio apartment was just what we were looking for. It was close enough to walk to restaurants, bars, and shopping without any hassle. I would choose to stay here when visiting again!

    Emily2018-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved that it only a half mile from King st. What we didn’t like is that we hear foot stomps and loud noises in the middle of the night from people living above us. Overall, it was a great room.

    Angeline2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, well-appointed space. It is a small space, as the listing describes, so if you need more room in the bathroom or kitchenette, then you might be cramped here. It worked perfect for my needs. We walked everywhere from this apartment, and caught the free bus into downtown Charleston. You can walk into downtown as well with good shoes.

  • This cute apartment is perfectly located near The Charleston Museum and the Visitors' Center, a short walk from upper King St with all it's fun restaurants and shops, including Uncle Kyle's Ugly Christmas Sweater annual pop-up shop. Also easy driving access to Mt. Pleasant/Shem Creek and Sullivan's Island. The bed and pillows were super comfy. Allie also provided enough coffee for the number of days we stayed. We would highly recommend if you want to be able to walk all around the city and sleep well at night.

    Margaret2018-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy and cute apartment. As other people have stated it’s very small but doable for short stay. Allie, the host was extremely responsive and helpful. Listing states there is a “sleeper sofa” but I don’t think sofa actually folded out into a bed,...if so we couldn’t figure it out. Also, driving into town some of the area was a bit seedy, but it is a quick Uber ride to downtown, I wouldn’t walk though. Overall a good experience. Thanks!

In the up and coming of downtown Charleston, this second floor renovated one bedroom condo boasts upgraded features throughout the property and is merely 3 blocks from King Street. The spacious one bedroom abode can sleep up to 4. A fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and patio seating to enjoy the nightly views. Rent a bike or walk to explore the food, and bar hop all the way down East Bay Street from the Cigar Factory, Bar Mash and Rappahannock to the Biergarten and all the way to the Market.
Downtown one bed room condo is fitted with a queen sized bed, and plenty of additional furniture to sleep all your guests comfortably. With an updated kitchen and bathroom, this condo makes vactioning so easy. It is an easy walk to upper king street where most bars and restaurants are located, as well as East Bay Street for a change of scenery..
The Eastside is an historic neighborhood that used to lie under the shadow of the old Cooper River bridges. One of the most impressive projects in this area is the renovation of the Cigar Factory, located at the foot of Columbus Street and East Bay Street, completed in 2015. Another project on Meeting Street near the entrance to the Ravenel Bridge is One Cool Blow, Downtown’s first mixed-use project built with environmental ‘green’ standards in mind. Everywhere there are cranes and new construction transforming this neighborhood into a walkable, mixed use community.
  • Walking distance to busy King St where you can find any variety of thing to eat, drink, or buy. A short Uber ride to the more "downtown" area and water front.

    Alexandra2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jabari and Bradley’s place was exactly what we were looking for on our first trip to Charleston. The place is exactly like the photos show, super clean, comfy and quaint. We had a late flight in and Jabari was absolutely accommodating. The apartments location is pretty awesome. It’s about a 5 minute walk to King St for entertaining and dining. Jabari gave us some great recommendations and always replied right away to any questions we had. We’d absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Charleston.

    Erica2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • This AirBNB is very nice with great finishings, however, while the location is within walking distance of downtown neither my wife nor I myself felt comfortable walking through the surrounding neighborhoods to get to downtown. The “tenants” downstairs where very loud and it was not exactly the “couples getaway” we thought we were booking. Although, Jabari and Bradley were very nice and left us a bottle of wine upon check in. Again, this is a nice house, but not exactly the location we were expecting based on the listing.

    Alex2019-03-14T00:00:00Z

  • This condo was cute and perfect for a couple! Not Being from Charleston, we did not know what the area was like so that would have been a nice heads up. Other than that, everything else was good!

    Keegan2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location, close to everything! Every one of our destinations in Charleston was 5 minutes away! The pics are exactly what the apartment looks like, and the shower is to die for!! The host was so easy to work with, and responded immediately. We will definitely use this location again!!

Stay right in the heart of downtown Charleston in this cozy hideaway! Located on King Street near Marion Square in a hidden neighborhood, it’s walkable to the very best landmarks, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife the city has to offer! We hope to welcome you here soon!
This 850 square foot apartment, located on the first floor, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The apartment has a full kitchen, coffee supplies, linens and towels, bathroom supplies, and a tv with Roku/Netflix/Hulu. There is a washer and dryer outside, within the apartment complex. The apartment is located in a very lively area of downtown Charleston. At times, the neighbors can be very loud and disruptive late into the night, especially on the weekends. They are mostly college students and young professionals. No house parties are allowed in the neighborhood. There are sound machines and fans in both of the bedrooms. Unfortunately, parking is not included in the stay. There is parking at the Francis Marion Hotel for $2/hour or $18 per day. The parking meters on King Street are available for one hour during the hours of 9am to 10pm ($2/hour). There are also parking meters available on other street for 2 hours. It's free to park at the parking meters from 10pm to 9am.
  • My friends and I really enjoyed staying at Caroline's place. It was perfect for our visit to Charleston as the location was in th heart of downtown and a 15 minute walk to the market area. There is lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Caroline was very quick to respond to any questions and we really appreciated that she provided some toiletries for our use. She was a great host.

    Nina2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Location location location!!! We were right in the middle of the action. The place was clean, and it was perfect for our family of 4. Caroline was very prompt with communication, check in was a breeze. However, be prepared for a bit of noise, but it's a small price to pay to be in a happenin' location. Overall a great experience.

    Patty2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great little spot right off King and Calhoun, close and a convenient walk to most things. Was perfect for my trip where I was mostly out of the house the entire time. Tidy and plenty of space for two guests. Do be aware of the party situations that tend to occur in the building, seemed like a good deal of College aged kids so if you've got earlier bed times I would pack ear plugs.

    Brandon2019-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience, awesome location and quick responses. Would stay again.

    Matthew2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Noisy but clean, convenient location. We stayed one night on a Monday. Check in was easy, Caroline was great and checked in to make sure we made it. I didn’t know there was a college in Charleston but the apartment is right next to it. I thought it was awesome that Caroline provides sound machines in each bedroom, however there is a reason. The upstairs neighbors ruined the whole experience for us. They were so incredibly loud, and no sound machine could cover it. If you are a halfway light sleeper, do not stay here. If you are coming to Charleston to stay out until 2am or are hard of hearing, this is a good spot for you.

    Shana2018-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The location was amazing! Caroline was such a great host!

    Kevin2018-07-16T00:00:00Z

This rental is all about EAST BAY LOCATION. The building had renovations in late 2017 (why there’s so many canceled reservation reviews). Newly re-listed! Dedicated parking is included but your car may never leave once you’re here. You’ll be within walking distance to all Downtown restaurants, attractions, and 2 blocks from the market. Full kitchen, large bedroom complete with upgraded queen bed, & large living room. Cooking essentials included & a 24/7 grocery store just one block away!
Once you're here you'll never need to get in a car unless you're traveling 15 minutes to ANY beach. Beach towels and a beach bag are included. This unit comes with a large master bedroom (queen bed) (hammock) (TV), large walk in closet (air mattress and extra linens can be found here), a couch which sleeps one (1), one full bathroom, full kitchen, free parking space, free HIGH SPEED WiFi, cable TV, laundry on site, a pool, and walking distance to everything that Charleston has to offer. You’re one block from a 24/7 grocery store, 3 blocks from historic King Street Shopping District, 3 blocks from East bay's wonderful restaurant and bars, 1/2 a block from the Carriage Tour Ride headquarters and 2 blocks from Market Street. Bring your own sheets or choose from a stack of freshly laundered ones. Everything else is provided to you. Enjoy complimentary High Speed WiFi, Dish Network, and Apple TV during your stay.
  • I had a wonderful experience staying at this property. It was clean and just like the pictures and walking distance from all the wonderful restaurants in downtown Charleston. Parking was easy, arrival was seamless and the bed was super comfortable. Would recommend and certainly stay again!

    Sarah2016-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here made our trip. It's clean, fun, unique and super comfortable. Sunsets on the patio were divine! Justin went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and gave us some great tips on off the beaten path places we would have never found. Location is truly ideal. 24/7 grocery store 50 feet away came in handy and once we arrived the car stayed parked. You can truly walk anywhere in the historic district! We'll definitely be staying here again when we return to Charleston!

  • A terrific location for walking around Charleston's historic city. Very conveniently located also for the very good supermarket, just a couple of hundred yards away....and Cane...the rum bar!

    Steve2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really cute spot. Great location but tucked back from street so nice and quite. Love the indoor hammock - so fun. Also having a balcony is great. Jason does require quite a bit of clean up (stripping sheets, dishes, and taking out trash) so if you have an early flight be aware of that.

It's a good size guest room with the original flooring for a Charleston Single built in 1835. The room faces the street and tons of sunlight in the morning! There are 2 porches in the house, great to relax on and enjoy the view. My wife and I have 2 furry kids who also live with us. So we welcome you to come and enjoy living in a part of history with us! We are a recognized Short Term Rental by the City of Charleston. Our business license is BL012498-09-2018.
The Eastside neighborhood is an old neighborhood that was started to be build in the early 19th century. There are many Charleston Single shotgun style houses all around. Today the Eastside neighborhood is a mixed up & coming neighborhood. Lots of local people, college kids and young professionals who live in the neighborhood, but it always good to take caution at night.
  • Tim was a great host, very friendly. The house itself is very authentic to the area, lots of character.

    Christopher2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a fantastic place to stay that’s within reasonable walking distance to downtown, this is definitely the place. Tim and Raquel are extremely hospitable and respond promptly to any needs you may have. This is definitely the best budget house to stay in!

    Ian2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Just as described! Very clean room and bathroom. The dogs are cute too. Tim was also accommodating to my very late arrival time. The sun shone so bright in the morning since the windows face east, but it is beautiful and there are blackout shades in case you’re don’t want to wake up with the sun. Great stay and value! I gave 4 stars because there was a slight smell to the room that traveled home with me on my clothes and bag, so I had to wash my worn and unworn clothes.

    Cameron2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • I feel really bad leaving a less than stellar review but I wish I would’ve seen one like this before I chose this place. The house smelled like garbage and wet dog. The bathroom is downstairs off the kitchen and the bedroom is upstairs. Kind of an awkward set up. The neighborhood isn’t very safe. I had ammunition’s locals mention that the neighborhood wasn’t safe and there was actually a shooting on that street a few blocks down the next morning. I ended up not staying

    Jessica2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to stay. We had a great experience.

    Joshua2019-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Tim’s place! Amazing location and historic house.

    Tre'2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were extremely excited to share their home and local knowledge. We learned a lot about the area and felt very comfortable chatting with them. They do have dogs but we never saw them.

    Taylor2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Tim’s place was perfect for us. Firstly, it was important that we found an Airbnb that was pet friendly as we were bringing our 5 month old pup along and it was her first road trip. Tim and Raquel were extremely understanding of this! All of our dogs (they have two) enjoyed playing together and they had a fenced in backyard, which was a huge plus! Location- we were only a 5-10 min walk to Meeting St and King St where tons of restaurants and shops can be found! Also, only a quick walk to a few local parks and a short drive to many breweries and Arthur Ravenal Bridge. Room- very spacious and beautifully decorated. Note that the bedroom is on the second floor and the bathroom is on the first floor, but that wasn’t a big deal for us. Both floors have huge patio-style balconies which we took advantage of!

  • Brenda’s place was great! the location is super: lots of fun things to do and cool restaurants are within walking distance or a short drive. We loved the space and Brenda was a great host!

    Kate2018-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is great. Several rooms share a common area with a kitchen. My room was clean and comfortable, and was exactly what I needed for a short stay in Charleston during which I'd be spending most of my time outside the house. Location makes it easy to walk to King Street (the main thoroughfare). The host, Brenda, was very nice, and consistently timely with her responses.

    Daniel2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot and Brenda was only ever kind, flexible, and communicative. I'd easily stay here again. Neighborhood is perfectly safe but a bit farther out...it was still easily worth the price, and not a problem if you don't mind a walk or a lyft. Very close to a bike share hub, too!

    Rhoda2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place is clean and conveniently close to Meeting and Kings streets. It just a 10-15 minutes walk to the center. My room was small but it was expected and accurate with pictures and host's description. It really didn't bother me since I was not planning to spend much time in the apt. Brenda, the host was very nice and accommodating. I was able to leave my suitcase in the apt until I was ready to head back home. And a washer and dryer in the apt is a big plus! Definitely recommend this place if you want to save $ on expensive hotels in Charleston and still be close to all action the city has to offer.

    Monika2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly host. Healthy walk to King Street nightlife. Tiny room.

    Julie2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • For the price, this Airbnb pays off. I wish it was a little closer walking distance to downtown but it was easy to get back and forth with a $6 Uber. Very, very clean with great amenities. The room is cozy, but there is plenty of space in the closet to store clothes and suitcases. Nice bathroom and shower with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Brenda even provided muffins and wine, which was a sweet touch. Would definitely stay again.

  • Hotel on Market was the perfect place for our extended weekend stay. Right in the heart of downtown Charleston, the hotel offers easy accessibility to some of the best spots on the peninsula. A short walk from tons of great food options as well as many historic sites, the location really can't be beat.

  • Perfect location, the hosts were very helpful and responsive, very clean! Would definitely recommend!

  • My wife and I came for an anniversary trip and were treated to a wonderful experience with the hotel and their staff. Consistently making sure we were well taken care of while we were there and had everything we needed. Renovations are in full swing, but they are able to maintain a peaceful atmosphere amidst the construction. Great location and hospitality from start to finish. We would absolutely stay here again!

  • Booked trip unknowingly the week of Hurricane Dorian and they promptly responded and gave me updates regarding the safety and condition of the area. Thank you and I hope everyone in Charleston was safe!

  • I stayed here for a night to go see one of my favorite bands and it was the perfect spot! I could walk everywhere I needed to go and didn’t have to worry about parking or driving around downtown. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and we had a great stay!

Historic Downtown Apartment centrally located 1 block away from Charleston’s Urban Entertainment District (Upper King St). Come experience Charleston's BEST food & nightlife, relive the rich history of colonial America, and get lost exploring the antebellum architecture and surrounding plantation landscapes.
Our place is located in Downtown Charleston. A traditional (1890s) 2 bedroom/ 1 bathroom Charleston home, that offers the entire 2nd floor apartment (800 sqft). Our place accommodates comfortably up to 4 people. We provide luxurious linens and towels for your stay. Parking is limited, we can only accommodate 1 vehicle per booking (1 on-street parking pass per night). If your party has more than one car, there are garages and pay lots in the vicinity. If you'd like any suggestions or ideas for parking, please reach out. This apartment is within a 20 minute drive to beaches, plantations, and airport.
Hampstead Village has become one of Charleston's most targeted areas for revitalization and is undergoing a transformation. ***I have been getting dinged by guests on Airbnb about location, so I will try to be more direct. *** We are in an ethnically diverse neighborhood. You will see people from all backgrounds and social classes. From the very wealthy, to college students, to homeless people. Due to the proximity to Downtown, expect an Urban/City environment. There is a possibility for noise from the street and surrounding homes. We provide ear plugs and a white noise machine to help drown out any sounds.
  • Neighborhood is quite noisy at night. Sketchy people up all night.

    Georgia2019-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • I planned my visit (to attend a wedding) months out only to have Hurricane Dorian come towards Charleston on the day I was set to arrive! Due to the uncertainty of everything, Phelipe and I kept in contact/communicated leading up to Dorian. Luckily all wound up being well, but the hosts were very accessible by responding to messages, and flexible with moving the date to avoid coming during the hurricane and to accommodate the wedding date shifting a few days. I guess we were lucky that there was some availability! The location was great - a quick walk to restaurants on King Street and pretty easy to get around if you don’t feel like walking. We Ubered most places and it was very easy. At night there are some seedy people hanging around near the gas station, but they did their own thing and didn’t bother us so all was good (we are from a city so this was pretty standard). The noise levels were ok, and dogs did bark but it was fine (and did not go on all night as some other reviews suggested). White noise machines were helpful! It was very clean, and there was plenty of space and amenities plus some very welcome snacks! Towels were big and cozy, they had Dove shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Ladies: they have a wall mounted hair dryer there so no need to overpack! The only suggestion I would make for future guests would be to sleep with the master bedroom door open as it got very hot at night/the air didn’t circulate when it was closed. Once we realized that and opened the door, we were much more comfortable. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend it!

    Becky2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Phelipe’s place was extremely clean, very well-stocked, and very close to downtown Charleston. Phelipe was a wonderful host and responded to all my requests and questions in a prompt manner. A couple of negatives...this area felt very unsafe. We never slept well because of people yelling and screaming profanities right outside our window throughout the night. We had our side view mirror stolen off our vehicle during the day while it was parked in front of the property. There were several people drinking and walking down the street with alcohol in brown bags. I would not recommend this for females without male companions or for kids. Just too sketchy of a neighborhood.

    Amy2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is in a fantastic location! It is an easy walk to most of the tourist sites, cheap Uber rides everywhere else. The apartment is extremely clean and plenty of space for 4 people. We did not have issues with noise. It is in an urban area, not the countryside, so night time sounds are to be expected. If you want it silent after 10 pm, go stay in the suburbs. The beds and linens were very comfortable. We loved the water cooler and the welcome sign was an adorable touch. Besides usual tourist stuff, we took a sailing tour of the harbor, booked through Air BnB, and it was lovely. Absolutely would stay here again.

    Maren2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Phelipe was an amazing host! The place was emmaculate, with plenty of amenities. The area is pretty noisy at night, and the neighbor has dogs that bark all the time - so would keep that in mind if you’re a light sleeper. Other than that it was amazing experience!

    Julianna2019-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful apartment, within walking distance of everything you need. Phelipe was very responsive, would recommend to stay here.

  • Oh man, this location is just spectacular! It was so close to all the shopping and dining you'll ever need (even a Harris Teeter is close by for all your trip needs). The apartment itself was beautiful. Very modern, very clean -it was a perfect fit for 2! With beautiful architecture and such friendly people, this neighborhood was perfect for a relaxing morning walk and a nice coffee before heading out for our Charleston adventures. Our host Victoria was the greatest -very friendly and welcoming!! She was able to show us how to maneuver through the local streets and find attractions we were interested in. This Airbnb could not have been better and made our trip to Charleston absolutely perfect!

This is a private bedroom with a private bathroom, however the bathroom is across the hall. You will have access to the first floor of the house. It includes the bedroom, a porch, small living room, and dining room and kitchen. I live in the house and mostly stay up stairs if I am home. You may see me in passing and I am always available if you need me. There is an off street parking space, just let me know before you get here and I will have it ready for you.
Only a block and a half from upper King st and most of the city is walkable from this location.

  • The loft was the perfect space for our Charleston trip. The location, in the heart of the French Quarters, is perfect for walking to the wonderful restaurants, art galleries, and water views. The check in process was easy, and the loft was very clean upon arrival. Although on vacation, during our downtime, it was nice to have access to Netflix (just a nice little bonus). The only negative of our stay was the construction next door which often started pretty early in the morning (but what can you do?). Otherwise, the stay was exceptional.

    Cory2018-08-03T00:00:00Z

  • Great location for exploring Charleston. The apartment is clean but a little tired in places. Security could be improved.

    Chris2019-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is in a great location, if you want to be close to tons of restaurants, City Market, and the riverfront. There is plenty to do nearby. Easy check-in and check-out process and the host is quick to answer questions. My husband and I had some issues with the plumbing in the bathroom. Unfortunately the toilet just wouldn't flush, and we had to use the plunger many times during our stay. In addition, we discovered that the AC ducts in the exposed ceiling in the living area leaked onto the floor and onto our belongings. Because of this, we had to leave the AC off most of our stay, which was tough in the Charleston summer heat. Overall, it's a pretty good place, but it does have its quirks.

    Sarah Jane2018-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Expectations were far exceeded with our (first!) Airbnb stay. The location could not have been more perfect (we only needed a car to visit some of the area's plantations), the inside of the place was beautiful, and communication with the owner was easy...highly recommend this place to all travelers looking for a place in Charleston!!

    Heidi2017-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • This Air BnB is the PERFECT location. We were walking distance to absolutely everything! 3 minutes to pineapple fountain, Rainbow Row, and the city market. Not to mention, amazing restaurants were also close by. The host was very responsive and the check-in process was easy. The space was very clean and decorated so cute. Our only issue was warm/hot water in the shower. The host was very quick on response and tried to fix the problem immediately. However, we still did not have warm water. This didn’t ruin our stay though and I, personally, would only stay at this spot if I ever visited Charleston again. Thanks for a great visit!!

  • Emma was so welcoming and available for any questions. The apartment was exquisite in every way. The historic renovation, the layout, everything. It was very luxurious . the linens and towels were white and lush. The neighborhood was great. We had fun at the Biergarten, which is around the corner. We will definitely stay there again when we visit Charleston

    Mary2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Emma's place is truly breathtaking. All the essential amenities are there, and the place is very comfortable. Private HVAC control, nice shower, amazing bed, full kitchen, everything was top notch. The courtyard makes you just want to stare...so well taken care of. We walked everywhere and this place is perfect for that. For other out-of-towners like ourselves: do not fear the palmetto bugs! Ha, had a nice scare with one of those until we realized they are nearly ubiquitous in South Carolina.

  • I'd dreamt of visiting Charleston for years and wanted an authentic experience. This was it! So charming and great location within walking distance of everything. This was our first Air BnB experience, too, and it went so smoothly. The carriage house is equipped with everything just like a hotel but then you also have perks such as a full kitchen and washer & dryer. Emma was wonderful, private, and texted to check in on us. I would highly recommend this to anybody! Oh, and there is parking, which is great - you have to pay extra for that at the local hotels.

  • Such a darling place! Incredible charming and cozy. All our destinations were downtown so the location worked great for us. We walked everywhere, and everything we cared about was less than a mile away. Be sure to check out Fig and Husk. Yum... Thanks, Emma!

Popular dining spots in the neighborhood include the Coquin Petite Cafe, The Grocery, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Fuel, Ice Bing, Goulette, Five Loaves café, R Kitchen, Poke San, Pink Cactus, and the Warehouse for drinks. Our guests and neighbors also rave about Brown's Court Bakery and Sugar Bakery located nearby. We recommend going to 132 Spring or Babas for a cup of locally-roasted coffee and their delicious cookies and cakes. The house is only a short walk from the very popular King Street where you will find a multitude of great shops – including antique shops, book stores and fashion boutiques – as well as buzzing restaurants. Publix conveniently located nearby on Lockwood Drive as well.

  • Kelly and Brian were amazing! The loft is adorable, bed is comfortable, and they were so accommodating about our check in and check out! Will definitely stay again the next time we are in town.

    Samantha2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly and Brian were great hosts and their place is exactly as described and exactly what we were looking for during our stay in Charleston! They were super accommodating and even let us check in late night after our 9 hour drive from Maryland and we were VERY appreciative of that. Their place is very cozy, comfy, and clean inside and although they live there we still had plenty of our own privacy. They were quick to respond to any questions we had for them and communication was a breeze. Highly recommended!

    Aubrey2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly & Brian’s place is centrally located and cozy. They really go out of their way (I think) to stay out of your way. I rarely saw or heard them for the three nights we stayed with them!

    Chantel2018-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I did a three day trip to Charleston and had the pleasure of staying with Kelly, Brian and their fur baby Bowser. The location was central, the space was beautiful and the hosts were a wealth of information. The only drawback was that the bedroom is a loft (which they fully disclose) so it is not fully walled, but for the price and the location I am not complaining. We would definitely stay with them again if we venture back down to this gem of a city in the near future! Thanks Kelly, Brian and Bowser!

    Samantha2018-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodations were just as described. Very friendly couple and pooch. Amazing location, walked to everything, yet quiet and relaxing. Although the hosts lived there, we had ample privacy. They were stealthy quiet and non-intrusive but available for questions and suggestions. We're dog people so we enjoyed their pooch who was also quiet. Highly recommend!

    Eva2018-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, clean, quick responses, and very accommodating. Kelly and Brian are great hosts and very welcoming. They have such a neat place, walking distance to a variety of restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay again. Thanks!

    Derek & Haley2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a great stay at Kelly and Brian's place! We picked it for the convenience/location and comfort and it delivered on both! Kelly and Brian were both friendly and attentive, and their dog is a sweet heart! The loft bedroom is at the top of a spiral staircase and there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, in case that matters to anyone. The bed and pillows are comfy, and I'm very picky about those things. Looking forward to the next time!

    Holly2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • You can not beat the location of this lovely home. Kelly and Brian are wonderful hosts, accommodating and friendly. The place was much quieter than I expected given the great location downtown. The bed was comfortable, which is always a plus. I fell in love with their wonderful dog, Bowser, who never made a peep but was very sweet and cuddly.

  • Great little place right by King St. It’s quite a small place but very cosy, comfortable and clean. A great place for exploring Charleston. Lauren was great to respond and attend to our needs. We would stay again.

    Celina2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren’s private suite is beer centrally located! Pretty much anywhere we wanted to go, we could walk! The suite itself was very clean and works well for the two of us. Lauren was extremely responsive and flexible! Would highly recommend and would book again!

  • Lauren is an amazing host. She responds quickly and had excellent Southern hospitality. The place is small, simple, and gets the job done. It’s literally one block from King Street. The location could not have been better. I would definitely stay here again.

    Katie2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The location to Lauren's apartment was absolutely incredible. With the great location though came a lot of noise a couple of the nights that kept us both awake. Other than that, everything was great. We would definitely stay here again.

  • We loved staying at Chris’s place. It combines a great central location with a charming stylish home. Chris is also a lovely guy who is completely reachable, cool and easy to chat with. Just a great place to take in one of the greatest of American cities. Bravo Chris!!!

    John2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, my friends and I had a great time in Charleston and staying at Chris' place. The accommodations were clean & comfortable and the air conditioning worked spectacularly especially as it got into the high 80's-90's while we were there. It was a nice relief to come back to the apartment and know we could quickly find respite. Not really many cons to mention save for 2 "would-like-to-have" items, but not make or break deals since we were on vacation. 1- Chris is aware of the WiFi and is working on getting that stabilized. 2- Secondly, it would be nice to have a microwave to heat up leftovers. Again, not make or break deals and we had a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend this place to get a nice feel for the city; the location was perfect.

    Vicky2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Very cute, great kitchen, everything was just as described. Really enjoyed our stay. Easy walk to the French Quarter and all the fun things to do.

    Jo2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for a group in town for a wedding. Conveniently located, clean space, more than enough towels and places to sleep. Chris was easy to reach and accommodating.

    Shannon2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful 1.5 story guest house adjacent to a main home in Charleston. Short walk to or very quick Uber to anywhere on the peninsula! Berry well appointed, great outdoor space. Wifi barely works/if at all, Chris was a little hard to reach but luckily we didn’t really need wifi for the weekend. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

    Sean2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at this place was wonderful! Awesome location that is a reasonable walk or quick drive to many popular Charleston attractions. The space has a wonderful secluded and cozy feeling despite being in a central location.

    Daniel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great location only minutes walk to restaurants and attractions. Fort Sumter ferry only 10 minutes walk away.

    Adrian2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was a phenomenal host! The place was every bit as charming as all of the photos suggested. The location was one of my favorite things about this place! Chris gave some great suggestions of where to eat and grab drinks. Most places were within walking distance. I really hope to be able to stay here again, in the very near future!

  • My girlfriend and I took a trip to Charleston and stayed at Lauren's place, and it couldn't have been a better experience. From the spacious apartment and large master, to how the sun lit up the place in such as translucent glow, to the location of the place (just a few blocks from King Street and Meeting Street); it's the perfect downtown stay. So private it feels like home. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!! Seriously!

    Ronnie2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a getaway in Charleston! Location could not be better, we walked everywhere! The apartment has historic charm with all the modern amenities. Lauren was an excellent host and responded quickly to any questions. I would absolutely stay here again, we loved it!

    Jennifer2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I stayed here for a rejuvinating weekend and it exceeded our greatest expectations! Lauren’s place is beautiful with an elegant large bedroom, charming high ceilings, and gorgeous sun-kissed windows that fill the room with Charleston sunshine. The outdoor porch was perfect for reading and relaxing. Lauren was very accomodating and she helped our every need. She also recommended the best restaurants in town that were in walking distance to our place! The location is right in the heart of downtown and it was wonderful having a parking spot so we could explore the city by foot and feel like locals!

    Sarah2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, spacious, inviting, and comfortable apartment with everything you need in a very walkable location and a kind and communicative host. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be recommending it to others!

  • Great host. Wonderful space. Location is a plus. Close to King street.

    Michael2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren’s place was wonderful! Check-in was easy and as soon as we walked into the apartment we felt at home and frankly impressed by her eye and knack for decorating. Everything was simple yet stylish and I appreciated the renovations done to an older property. The bathroom in the master had clearly been redone and it felt like we were staying in a five star hotel in the middle of downtown Charleston! Lauren gave us restaurant suggestions and was ALWAYS quick at responding if we needed her. Having private parking was an added bonus and we were SO close to King Street and in walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go. I would recommend this place to anyone and think it was well worth the weekend price. If you get a chance to stay here, you are truly lucky!

    Sarah2018-04-08T00:00:00Z

Neighborhood established in the 1830s' during a wave of German immigration. It has been fully remodeled with lockable compact bedroom suites with private bathroom(with shower stalls) in every bedroom. You will share the common area with other airbnb guests. Sandwiched in between the Post and Courier Newspaper and the historic Cigar Factory. We are a bike ride away from all restaurants and bars. We are a few blocks from the Ravenal Bridge. We are in a diverse, mixed neighborhood.
This is a three-bedroom with three private bathrooms each bedroom has a private bathroom it's a very comfortable space light and airy and very clean. Comfy queen size beds and pillows. It's close to all of our beautiful restaurants and bars. It's also very close to museums and close to the market area where you could get a horse-drawn carriage ride or go on a walking tour with one of our many tour guides. This room is located on the second floor so there are stairs.
I love that I live in a very diverse neighborhood. We have college students young professionals first time home owners and people who have lived in this neighborhood for Generations. The house I live in was built in 1832 one of the old Charleston single houses. We also have Southern Charm here, the television show, they have a jazz bar right around the corner and one of the actors lives in our neighborhood.
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Brenda’s place. I was shocked at how quiet the apartment was - such a little oasis to return to at the end of a long day sightseeing! I had never stayed in a “shared” AirBnB before - I had always rented an entire apartment in the past - so I was a little nervous to share common areas like the kitchen. But it turned out to be a great choice! I barely even saw the other guests and when I did of course they were pleasant and quiet. Plus each of us having our own private bathrooms made all the difference. Overall it was very comfortable and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

    Michelle2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda could not have been more accommodating. Fantasicly lovely host to book with

    Ryan2017-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location within walking distance to downtown! Brenda's place is exactly what i was looking for while visiting Charleston - private bath, secure entrance(s), parking and a shared fully stocked kitchen:) I hope to stay here again when i return to the area in a few months.

  • Brenda did an amazing job of welcoming us to Charleston. She was super flexible for the check-in/check-out process and very responsive if I ever needed a something answered. This place is great for single person or couple. You get a bedroom with private bath off of a communal kitchen and living room. To get downtown without uber/lyft I'd recommend walking 4-5 min to spring st just in front of the apartment complex and taking the 211 (green) route.

    Bradley2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was a great host. She was very responsive and friendly. Her comprehensive instuctions made it easy to find and enter the house. Brenda also provided lovely touches including complimentary muffins and a bottle of wine. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. Each room has a bathroom so you have plenty of privacy. Brenda lives in a separate but adjacent house. The common space has a clean, large kitchen and laundry facilities. The house is about 30 minutes walk to the French Quarter and 10 minutes walk to restaurants, cafes and bars along north Spring street.

    Greg2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was friendly and interesting to chat with. When an issue popped up the response time was super fast! She also offered a few recommendations on places to eat. The one recommendation I was able to check out was great! The location is real close to all the action downtown.

    Sara2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Good price, great communication with hosts but the neighborhood is not ideal. The bedroom was small, but manageable. A short Uber ride to restaurants & historical sites and a close drive to all the beaches. If you don't mind a sketchy neighborhood, it's a good value

Enjoy your own place with private garden in a quiet historic district neighborhood
Quiet , tree lined street of historic houses about 100 yards to Marion Square
  • The Cottage is absolutely adorable, and the garden leading to the cottage is beautiful as well. It’s the perfect place to stay for a lovely weekend in Charleston or even a full month stay like I did. You’re within walking distance to the Market, Marion Square, Waterfront Park, Rainbow Row, King Street shopping and bars, and several restaurants! It was perfect to be so close to several attractions but also be able to relax at a quiet cottage in a nice neighborhood close by. The place has a great full kitchen with necessary cookware, and the laundry room also comes in handy. One of the best things is not having to worry about parking because you have a secure spot right in the driveway. I always received a quick response with anything that came up which made my stay that much more pleasant. I was very nervous when looking to book a place for a whole month, but I could not have been more happy with the decision I made.

  • I want to start of with the fact that Brenda was very kind...however I would not airbnb here again. The location was extremely sketchy. We did not feel safe nor did we feel comfortable leaving our car outside. (We had to drop off our car in a Parking Garage which totalled to $28. This does not include the uber to get back to Brenda place and the uber to leave which added up to an extra $20. So we spent an extra unnecessary $48 on parking/uber) The room was located in a building behind her home, which was close to the picture provided in the airbnb app however, the room was not very clean, it was musky, and the shower needed better cleaning (you shouldn't feel dirtier after you shower) and we got bit all night by mosquitos (note that we didn't leave any doors or windows open). The room I paid for cost $124 ($50 for one night, a $50 cleaning fee, $13 service fee, and an $11 occupancy fee....plus the extra $48 on parking totalling in $172. ) I honestly wish I would have just paid the $200-$300 for a hotel. At least then you are getting what you pay for and your safety isn't a consern.)

  • Brenda was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She left us muffins and coffee. The apt is 10 min walk to the trendy bars area and 30 min walk to the historic touristy area.

  • We had a great time!

  • Fantastic, private place to stay within walking distance of everywhere you’d need to be in Charleston. Thanks for everything!

  • The location was great - super accessible to things downtown. Brenda is very responsive, helpful and welcoming. It was a little cold in our room (we were also there during one of the coldest weekends in Charleston) and the water took a long time to heat up, but otherwise, a great stay.

  • Great place! Very close to the heart of Charleston! Also, Brenda is a very responsive hostess with great hospitality.

  • Brenda's flat has been one of the best Airbnb I have stayed in. The place was very clean, quiet and close to town centre. Brenda was a brilliant host - extremely warm and welcoming. There was also wine and muffin provided each day which I was positively surprised by. There is also a huge garden area where guests are welcome to sit and use as they like. Thanks Brenda we had a fantastic time in Charleston!

  • Brenda’s Place was excellent. She’s a warm, tip-top host. The room was clean and the common area a very nice space. Temperature good and the room is modern and sealed, so no random drafts. Location is good. Area seems a little sketchy but walk 2 blocks west and you’re at the top of King St.

  • We loved our stay there! It’s obviously an up and coming part of Charleston (my fiancé and I were not at all bothered by the neighborhood and felt safe!) Loved that we walked to King St and the Beer Garten close by 1 day & the next day the Downtown Market. So close to everything! 20 min walks or a quick Uber trip! Place was super clean and very well decorated room! This is hands down the nicest private room/common place share we have ever stayed in! Luis was super nice!

    Jon2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Luis' place is exquisitely decorated - it's really stunning inside. It was spotless and everything was really comfortable. It felt like an oasis! We walked almost the whole time - his place is close to a lot of great bars on King Street - one of our favorites which was Luis' recommendation was the Cocktail Club (great vibes and super cool interior). I would highly recommend staying at his place. My only hang up was that the room faces the street, so you can hear street noise at night if you are a light sleeper. This didn't bother us at all as it's not constant and its a pretty quiet street for cars. Luis is a great host, being around if we needed but also giving us a lot of space. Being able to control the temperature of the room (AC) was an added bonus and super nice to sleep in a cool room after being in the sun all day. We would definitely stay there again!

  • I ended up not staying at Luis's place due to the location. Once we pulled up we felt uncomfortable in the area being two female travelers. It is very close to downtown but on a street with what would appear to be low income housing. Luis assured us that the location is safe and it very well could be but we did not feel comfortable. Just want to make other travelers aware because I was totally taken back and ended up needing to book a hotel for the night. Not being familiar with Charleston I thought this AirBnB was going to be in a charming area of Charleston. Definitely not a charming area of Charleston. The place sure looks cute though!

  • Rod's place is in an exceptional location near great and varied restaurants and shopping. My visit was work related and the workspace/desk in the living room was great and I got so much done. There is also a Fed 1 1/2 blocks away. I could not have ask for a better spot. I had a few questions and Rod was always quick to answer. I will definitely use the spot again if the opportunity presents itself in the future.

  • GREAT place! Will definitely be returning! Rod’s place is clean, beautiful and the location absolutely CANNOT be beat! Rod was super nice and even let us check in early! Everything was walking distance and Rod gave us a ton of suggestions on where to eat, drink and hang out!

  • Rod's downtown apartment was phenomenal. It was perfect location for all of your downtown needs. We stayed two nights and it was close to everything downtown Charleston. He has everything you need to stay for a weekend getaway to extended stay. He was a very good communicator as well. I would DEFINITELY stay here again.

  • Rod’s place was in the perfect location & had everything we needed for our stay in Charleston. Would 100% recommend!

    Kendal2019-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rod was amazing!! So very thoughtful and responsive to any questions we had. The place was amazing, smack center to all the action Charleston has to offer. The only drawback was there is no free parking. Not a deal breaker but something to consider next time. I will definitely be back!
