I live close to both train and bus stops. The train runs twice an hour and is 6 mins to Meadowhall 12 to Sheffield. The bus runs every 10 mins and takes about 30 mins. I am 10 mins from Motorway. The room is a guestroom. I am retired. Access to my property is down the side of number 4. I am near Asda .There are several places to eat 5 mins walk away. Tankersley Manor Hotel There parking on the street and I have WIFI
My place is a stone cottage slightly hidden. My main entrance is around the back. The cottage is small but comfortable.
The neighbourhood is quiet with lots of places to eat. There is a large Asda for any shopping. Sussex Road is a small Road and is used as a through fare at peak times but there is usually plenty of car parking available.

  • Ann has a cosy little cottage with a discreet entrance down the back on a small alley. The place is clean and tidy and there are sufficient local amenities a short walk away. Ann is a great host and nothing is too much trouble.

    Jeff2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful host! Aftwr a long exhausting drive up from the South, Ann was flexible with my arrival time and greeted me with a cuppa and a bite to eat. The bed was amazingly comfortable and cottage really cosy and well kept. As the only guest it is really peaceful but Ann goid company in the evening if youre up for it. Ideal for women traveling alone. DIY breakfast was provided with full access to the kitchen. Extremely good value for money. Highly recommended!

  • I had a lovely night’s stay with Janet. She is a very nice lady and made me feel very welcome. The highlight was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in; the downside was that I didn’t want to get up! I would definitely book with Janet again.

    Julie2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Janet made our jam-packed day such a breeze by being a very flexible and wonderful host. Her home was full of fantastic books and interesting photographs, plus the room was very cosy. She took the time to talk to us about things we all cared about and recommended The Traveller nearby to eat at which was gorgeous food with generous portions. Couldn't recommend more.

  • Nice clean end of terrace. Short walk to Barnsley town centre and a short drive to pretty and interesting places thereabouts. Highlights this time were Wentworth Castle and Worsborough Mill and lake. We were there to prepare for and attend a funeral so the location was very useful for us and had the advantage of somewhere quiet to go to in the evenings.

  • Lovely property on quiet street close to town centre. Was booked to accommodate someone who was having work done on own house. Was like home from home. Great touches such as coffee machine, new shower gel and washing up implements provided. Fabulous linens provided.

    Lee2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's place is exactly as described in the listing. It's a good sized terrace house at the end of a cul-de-sac. True, there's a factory entrance next door, but the factory isn't bothersome at all. The soft furnishings and linens are really nice, and the eat-in kitchen is well stocked. Andrea even supplies extras like gift toiletries and a cake. Oh, most important of all, the house is really clean.

Cosy terrace property, in the centre of popular village of Mapplewell.
There are 2 great pubs and a lovely micro brewery all within a 2 or 3 minute walk of the property and each other. A variety of restaurants are also close by.
  • Joanne was a lovely host, that allowed us to stay for a long duration of time. We constantly kept in touch with each other in regards to the space shared downstairs, which was not a bother to us in terms of privacy, as we were either out and about or momentarily upstairs. We took advantage of restaurants, take away and pre packaged goods, as the amenities are basic due to this being more appropriate for a short stay. Regardless, the location is great, right in the centre of Mapplewell, with the bus to Leeds or Barnsley centre- right out the front. Beds also comfy, slept like a baby. Thank you for having us!

    Britt2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very interesting weekend spent above and around an actual health and beauty salon. Innovative use of her space. Lovely central location for many local attractions, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Mining Museum, Huddersfield etc. Barnsley is a good 2.5mile walk and was a surprisingly picturesque walk. You know there’s no kitchen so tea, coffee, milk is supplied. Recommend Langdon Cafe (over the road) and Eastfield Arms for breakfasts and had a lovely evening meal in Talbot Inn. I would definitely recommend Joanna’s place.

    Chantelle2019-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable bolthole in a lovely village, with great pub and food options. There's no kitchen but there is a kettle, tea and coffee and Joanne left us some milk in the drinks fridge, so we were sorted :)

    Debbie2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, tidy, and very conveniently located in Mapplewell. We were attending a party nearby and the fact that this was facing straight onto the main road was good for taxis. There's a local convenience store nearby and takeaways just in case you need a quick bite (handy as there's no kitchen - but we knew that when booking). Free car parking ~1-2mins from the house was great too. Great value for money. Recommended.

    Graham2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • An ideal location for us and a slick booking process. Thanks again Joanne

  • We received a very warm welcome and the accomodation was ideal for us. There were some thoughtful touches in the room which made our stay even better. Our hosts were very friendly and we had a lovely chat over breakfast this morning but they wouldn’t have been intrusive I’m sure ,had we wanted to keep ourselves to ourselves. Their house is ideally located for Wombwell cricket club and a good choice if you are attending a function there or somewhere in the vicinity.

We have a large double en suite room in the original part of our 17th Century farmhouse. With a small cupboard with hanging space and a travel cot, and a separate pop up single bed available. These will be placed in the room for your arrival if requested. We have provided tea and coffee making facilities and a TV with free view. We are a family of 3, including our 3y.o. Daughter who will no doubt want to show you her treehouse. Access is up 1 flight of stairs.
With original beams and a coat of arms hanging this charming room can make you feel like lord/lady of the manor. The modern en suite has a deep bath that is the comfiest I've ever used, and a powerful over bath shower.
Our home is a secluded gem, full of charm and character, but it is on the doorstep of Newmillerdam, Nostell Priory and Wakefield city centre with its galleries and cathedral. Local pubs and restaurants provide plenty of choice.
  • Gorgeous space in a lovely character house. Hosts were very welcoming and the bed super comfy. Great en-suite bathroom and a lovely aspect. Definitely recommend!

Charming renovated stone cottage filled with original art in beautiful gardens on very quiet lane in Newmillerdam. Private suite with external door and key, luxury bedlinen, fluffy towels and toiletries. Fresh flowers, chocolates, Wi fi, USB ports, in room drinks facilities; light refreshments included. Situated across from Newmillerdam Country Park/lake. Good road/rail links and free on site parking. Experience the luxury of a boutique hotel in delightful quiet village close to M1 and rail.
We like to offer 5* comfort and enjoyment; fresh flowers and fruit with home made cake in your room. Arrive to a warm welcome with refreshments served in the living room. Relax early evening with a chilled glass of prosecco and olives in the conservatory. The cottage also doubles as an art gallery for all our paintings which many guests love to look at and talk about. Choice of breakfast menu, supper available by arrangement and full use of all garden areas plus, unusually for this area, you have free, secure on site parking. We don't charge extra for more than one guest or for cleaning - and couples with one small child aged 6 and under who will sleep with them are made welcome too. We offer a delightful private room with adjoining ensuite facilities. The latter has a new, large walk-in shower, and there's plenty of hot water at any time of day or night. Soft, fresh towels and a range of high quality toiletries are provided for you to choose from, including wash gels, shampoo and moisturising creams. The bedroom contains one very comfortable single bed and when needed, a fold down bed, complete with an additional topper mattress. There are plump goose down pillows and we only use high quality bed linen. Comfort and a good night's sleep are essentials. Throws and cushions keep you extra warm and comfortable. The bedroom is snug but perfectly adequate with two people. The room houses an extensive collection of art and poetry books for you to browse but other light reading is available from the shelves in the living room. We have some quirky pieces in the room, lovingly collected over the years, like an antique French prayer chair. Lounge against vintage silk cushions. Original art work surrounds you and whilst there is no television in the room itself, you are very welcome to use the one in the living room. A kettle, cafetiere, tea pot and cups plus fresh coffee and a range of teas are provided in your room; these offer that bit of early morning comfort in bed without moving very far. Home baked biscuits or cake are left for you to enjoy each day. An eclectic collection of vintage crockery is used, much inspired by art deco and/or the arts and crafts movements, and bought from some of the many local antique and vintage shops around us. Amity Cottage is an 18th century stone cottage, originally converted from an old barn, now fully modernised and extended, but also retaining some original features such as the beamed living room and the stone mullion window. This room is also full of original art work, much of which has been painted in one of the studios we have in the cottage and which we can make available to guests if they want to use them. Breakfast can be served, in the dining room overlooking the conservatory and beautiful gardens. or made available in the kitchen or your room. Breakfast time is flexible between 7.30am and 9.15am and we offer a menu from which to choose. Please inform us if you have special dietary needs in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. If you prefer something else, we can also offer that by prior arrangement the night before. Our gardens have been lushly planted for year-round interest and are lauded by many people. There are a number of areas in which to sit and enjoy a view. A heated summer house in the garden provides a lovely place to sit. The garlands of small lights inside and around the trees outside create a magical atmosphere. Smoking is allowed in the gardens but we ask that you dispose of the remains carefully outside in the bins. Although on a very quiet lane, there are many good places to eat and drink within walking distance. There are supermarkets just a short distance away and a very good bus service runs along the main road which is about a 3 minutes walk from the cottage. For those wanting a good, freshly prepared and home cooked meal in the early evening, we can offer a two course supper by prior arrangement and a small contribution per adult meal. Children aged 6 and under will be offered a modified version of the menu and there is no extra cost involved if their parent has booked a meal. Most diets catered for, eg. vegan, coeliac. All our bread, cakes, biscuits, preserves and meals are home made by Jan using fresh ingredients.
Newmillerdam is a small village on the outskirts of Wakefield but within easy access of major northern cities such as Leeds, Sheffield, York and Manchester. Newmillerdam Country park and lake is a place of outstanding natural beauty with plenty of walks. There are three very good pubs/restaurants within easy walking distance and an excellent Italian restaurant. Newmillerdam is seen as a prestigious village in which to live. Amity Cottage is on a very quiet, unadopted lane across from the Country Park and with open fields to the side. For parents travelling with a child, there is the Country Park Gnome Trail and we can even provide the bird seed with which to feed the many ducks and swans on the lake.
  • The warm hospitality shown by Jan & Ted was second to none. They were very welcoming and Ted collected me from/dropped me to the station which was a wonderful treat Their cottage home is a lovely place to stay with special quirky touches and a beautiful room to rest and relax with spotlessly clean facilites. The bed is amazingly comfortable with careful attention to detail in the room added including home made biscuits and chocolate cake. They are a lovely couple who treat each visitor as a special guest going the extra mile offering local advice including the local wildlife with a walk around the lake 2 minutes away making your stay incredibly relaxing and stress free It was a treat to stay in their home and I will be returning as soon as I can Thank you Jan and Ted

  • I don’t even know where to begin! Ted and Jan are by far the most welcoming people I have ever had the pleasure to meet! My partner and I were staying as we had a funeral to attend in Leeds and wanted somewhere nice to retire to after, Amity Cottage was most certainly that. There was nothing that hadn’t been thought of and the room and house were beautifully decorated throughout. You most definitely won’t go hungry, breakfast is not only amazing but lots to go round and the cakes and shortbread are to die for! The grounds are beautiful and they are happy to show you round and socialise but also give you your own space if you prefer. We loved getting to know Ted and Jan and will definitely be returning, we cannot recommend them enough !!!!

  • Another enjoyable night staying with Ted and Jan! Highly recommended!

    Angela2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding. Ted and Jan, or "Bread and Jam" as they are sweetly known by their neighbours granddaughter, are without a doubt some of the nicest people I've met. Their cottage is simply beautiful from the colourful artwork on the walls, to the garden bursting with life and colour. I was greeted by smiling faces and immediately felt very welcome. The en suite bedroom is ever so cosy and immaculately clean with an array of sweet furnishings, artwork and professionally typed out information cards about my stay and the local area. The extra personalised touches were so sweet (I shan't list them because I think it is nice for future guests to have this surprise as it was very unexpected, but made it all the more fantastic) and Ted and Jan could not have been more accomodating. Ted and Jan cooked a delicious homemade 2 course dinner (creamy pasta with salmon, asparagus and mushroom, with a chocolate brownie and locally made salted caramel ice cream for dessert) and it was presented beautifully at the dinner table. If you have the opportunity to eat with them, I highly recommend it. I was then offered a very tasty breakfast at a time of my choosing, again very well presented at the table. All in all I had a very enjoyable stay and although only for one night, it was simply wonderful and I can highly recommend a visit. (Their 4 cats are also very cute and friendly). I shall look forward to sampling local foods, long walks and artistic ventures as recommended by the hosts. I will be recommending to friends and family if they are ever up this way and I wish Ted and Jan all the very best. Many thanks , Sam x

  • This place makes me frustrated that I can only give 5 stars... as I would rather give 50. PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!!! I had travelled there with my 5 year old daughter Marina, who is naturally quite shy around new people. However within a matter of minutes, she was walking around the place as if she had been visiting there for years. Jan and Ted are simply the best hosts I have ever come across... genuine, interesting, lovely people who made their house feel like a home from home. The room was perfect for us. Jan and Ted are both into art and painting, and the room had wonderful pieces on the walls... combined with the tasteful decor, the 2 single bedded en-suite room was everything we could have hoped for. There was "Teddy's Picnic Hamper" full of books and crayons for Marina, a lovely touch that shows Jan and Ted's efforts to go the extra mile. Jan cooked dinner for us at a minimal cost, which was delicious and home-made. The breakfast was a lovely choice of various fruits with yoghurt and croissants with honey/jam... again absolutely lovely. The artistic talent within the house gripped me so much that I actually bought one of Jan's paintings, a stunning piece depicting Amble Harbour, a place very close to my heart. There really aren't enough words to describe this place... it's "value for money" is simply ludicrous, as you cannot put a price on kindness and homeliness. Thank you Jan and Ted, you made our stay wonderfully special. Would I return to Amity Cottage?? TRY AND KEEP ME AWAY!!!!!

    Jonathan2018-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Ted could not have made us more welcome. We were so comfortable staying in their house. Nothing was too much trouble for them and all the extras such as the toiletries in the bathroom made it very luxurious. The breakfast was delicious from the home made bread to the fabulous home made plum compote. We would love to stay with then again and would highly recommend their accommodation.

    Sarah2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ted and Jan seriously went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They are kind, hospitable and friendly hosts who have an beautiful house. I couldn't have asked for anything more on my stay. I wish you both the best and thank you once again. Highly recommend 5*

    Dean2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ted and Jan were exceptionally welcoming, and made our stay a home from home. The thoughtful touches from the homemade biscuits on our arrival to book recommendations after lovely conversation over breakfast made our stay memorable and comfortable. We highly recommend!

  • Good apartment in a good location for town and surrounding areas. Clean and well equipped. We had an issue with the oven but the host responded immediately and tried to resolve it for us as quickly as possible. Gave 4 stars due to patchy and mostly non existent WiFi and a broken dishwasher in the middle of the kitchen but that didn't impact out stay too much. The host was friendly and attentive, we would stay here again.

We have almost completed the renovation of this 18th century house which was originally two separate cottages. Hemingfield, a village about 5 miles from Barnsley, is on the edge of the Dearne valley with lots of country walks, two pubs (one recommended for its food) and a farm shop. We're just 1 minute from the Dearne valley parkway, 5 mins from M1 J36 and 15 miles from Sheffield.
The attic suite will be yours. There is a large light bedroom and your own en-suite with both bath and shower. Please note that as we live in an old cottage, the stairs are narrow and winding so it might be a struggle to carry large suitcases up there. We have one other single room so if needed we can accommodate one more person.
This is an ex-mining area with a lot of mining heritage celebrated in the area. Elsecar Heritage Centre (1.5 miles away) has lots of shops, an antique centre and runs many events plus we're 3 miles from the fabulous Wentworth Woodhouse stately home and grounds. A little further away there are beautiful walks, reservoirs, views and pretty towns and villages in the Peak District. The Dearne valley is noted for its bird watching - there are seven reserves within a few miles of our house including RSPB Old Moor (3 miles away). We're happy to point you in the direction of eateries, good pubs or other things to do. Just ask us.
  • The room is a lovely space. Its up 2 flights of stairs. I would definitely go again

  • We were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of our accomodation that was quality, clean and very comfortable with great attention to detail. Bridget and John are great hosts and we were made to feel welcome and relaxed immediately and throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this wonderful place.

  • A beautiful cottage, good breakfast. Perfect

    Christine2018-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget was a delightful host and welcomed me with a nice cup of tea and an interesting chat. I met John later, who was also very pleasant and friendly. The room is spacious and airy, with a comfortable bed and modern en-suite bathroom, a large television and nice lighting. It is furnished in quite a contemporary style although the house is quite an old stone building with massive fireplaces and oak beams. Outside the room there is a mezanine landing with a seating area and some full bookshelves. There's a few steep stairs to the room so a less mobile person might not be best suited to this place, but I was very happy.

    David2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean room in good location with all necessary amenities. I had a very happy stay. Hosts very hospitable people. I would be happy to stay again.

  • My first experience of Airbnb, Bridget & Johns home was lovely, they were excellent hosts, spotlessly clean, I consider myself fortunate to have spotted their home & they should be charging more for the pleasure of staying with them

    Martin G2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget was generous, picked me up from train station and prepared a lot of food with home-made breads, she cooked very well, I really enjoyed very much. This is a quiet place to have some relax. The room was big and clean, coffee, tea bags, mugs and kettle are provided. Also I enjoyed the bath tub. Dog is good and cute, not noisy. I would like to come to live again ^_^

  • We had a wonderful stay at The Old Dairy. Super little cottage within easy walking distance of the village and its pubs, restaurants and beautiful walks around the Dam. We stayed on the hottest day of the year so far and found the living room a wonderful cool and comfortable retreat (super comfy sofa!) after a day out in the heat. We were very grateful for the breakfast goodies that were left and the wine went down a treat with dinner. Next door had fresh eggs for sale too which were delicious scrambled!! Parking was a slight issue as we had 2 cars and the cottage is set back from the road down a dirt path. Parking is up on the narrow road a short walk from the cottage and finding space each evening proved a little tricky (had we brought the bigger 4x4 it would have been impossible to park). We were happy to give the Old Dairy 5 stars - and would highly recommend it as a place to stay.

Wortley Cottage Guest House is in the centre of Wortley, Sheffield. The building dates from the 18th Century and was originally the main farm in the village serving Wortley Hall, the ancestral home of the Earl of Wharncliffe. We have three guest rooms in our family home, all en-suite, two Double rooms and one large Twin/Double room.
The Top Forge Twin/Double Bedroom, is at the back of the building overlooking Wortley Farm Shop. It has a private en-suite shower room. We allow pets in this room. All our rooms have tea & coffee making facilities. Guests also have access to a shared fridge, with fresh milk and bottled water.
Wortley is a small village - we still have a Pub, The Wortley Arms, Village Club (Wortley Men’s Club), Countess Tea Room, Farm Shop and Post Office & Village Shop. Wortley Hall is now a Hotel, Restaurant and Conference centre, with 26 acres of garden open to the Public. The Wortley Arms serves lunchtime & evening meals and we recommend guests book prior to arrival, especially Friday & Saturday evenings.
  • Wortley is a quaint village , quiet and like stepping back in time to rural England. It is perfectly placed to visit Sheffield-Manchester, area, with lots of activities depending on how physical you wish to be ( from rambling to mountain bike riding) Tony’s accomodation is perfectly placed with such caring and thoughtful advice. (Hooray! No noisy refrigerator in the room, but easily accessible at top of stairs)

We think you've found an amazing place to stay. This is one of three double bed rooms in a spacious converted chapel. If required this room can accommodate your travel cot or our extra floor mattress. It is opposite the main bathroom on the ground floor. All rooms are light and airy each with their own shower/ toilet facilities. We provide breakfast as part of your booking, and other vegetarian meals can be provided if requested. Helpful hosts and a unique and homely place to remember.
Durkar Chapel was initially a Victorian Primitive Methodist Chapel, converted ten years ago into a large family home with additional creative spaces both indoors and out, creating a unique and relaxed space to visit. It is close to the M1 motorway (J39) and has good public transport links if required.
The chapel is located 2 minutes away from J 39 M1 three miles from the city centre, and the award winning Hepworth Gallery. Three miles in the other direction, in the rolling countryside is the internationally famous Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We are close to Pugneys Lake, a countryside water sports facility within walking distance of Sandal Castle and visitor centre. We have recently organised a special deal for our guests with the Nuffield Health and Fitness centre. So bring your sportswear bag and swimming costume for a wonderful /relaxing/ healthy living experience. Check out their facilities at www.nuffieldhealth.com/gyms/wakefield. Your hosts are relaxed and helpful, with a good local knowledge of the area that includes local walks, popular shops and leisure amenities.
  • This is a very special home and we were made to feel so welcome by our charming hosts.

    Miranda2018-09-13T00:00:00Z

  • Thanks Janet for a lovely stay x

    Helen2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Janet and Steve have created a beautiful space which is full of light, but is homely and so comfortable and welcoming. They are lovely hosts. They gave me a delicious supper and we had really nice conversations. Room is lovely and bed super comfy. A really good night's sleep. Lovely bathroom with a good shower, two basins and a roll top bath! Lovely touches like the wood burning stove, home made bread and home produced honey! Janet also kindly gave me a lift to and from the Hepworth and told me a bit about it. The road outside is fairly busy so I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for something rural, but their home is an oasis of quiet and peace and the location is fantastic - 3 miles to both the Hepworth and the Sculpture Park. I look forward to returning.

    Madeleine2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. Outstanding. Amazing value. Warm welcoming host and family topped off with heavenly home made bread in the morning with honey jams etc. Superb quality building with the most comfortable bed and sumptuous bedding. I did NOT want to get up. Huge spotless bathroom and the kitchen area was massive. Ample parking on street and a One Stop convenience store right next door. About 100 yards away from M! but I never heard it. Finally on a seperate note, Do not trust your satnav if it says access from M! slip road. You need to be on Derby Dale Road East.

    Adrian2019-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Janet and Steve’s converted chapel is easy to find once you come off the motorway and is a lovely and welcoming stay. Janet is very helpful with tips of the local area and is willing to help out with anything needed. Steve’s homemade bread is wonderful and you can walk into the kitchen to the smell of Janet’s freshly baked biscuits. The rooms are very clean and the bed is really comfy! The area has some lovely pubs with vegan options and the Yorkshire sculpture park is only a ten minute drive away which is a great day out. I would definitely recommend!

  • Lovely room, incredibly comfortable and fab shower! Dave is friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area.

    Gracie2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our first time staying in a Air BNB. We were visiting people in the area and needed somewhere to stay and found this place which was closer than the local Premier Inn so thought we would give it a try. It was really nice to stay somewhere with the personal touch rather than a hotel, although the standard was just as high and homely as well. The room was large, spacious, well decorated, modern and very private. The bathroom was lovely with a 'new' feel and a walk in shower. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was warm. Space was made available for us to put food in the fridge and prepare meals in the spotlessly modern kitchen, had we needed it, but we didn't as we were having our meals elsewhere. There were teas, coffee and kettle in the room with milk provided if needed. Our hosts were friendly and were there if you needed them but were unintrusive and left us to ourselves to come and go which was ideal. The wifi was good. The house, is within walking distance of lovely countryside and the Peak District, and Sheffield, and Meadowhall for shopping are all a short drive away. Plenty of things to see and do and great walking in the area. Loads of takeaways and eateries around with the 'Fox Valley' shopping complex locally. I would recommend staying here if you are visiting the area.

    Katherine2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's place was great. It was clean, attractive and comfortable. The hospitality was excellent. We had a flat tire and didn't arrive until after 11pm, but Dave stayed up late to let us in and show us to our room. There was a futon prepared for our daughter, and she enjoyed a mug of hot chocolate while we had coffee and tea the next morning. There was plenty of shopping and dining around, and we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful town.

    Dannie2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dave & Linda welcomed me into their home, directed me to a parking space right next to the house, the room was large & ensuite bathroom lovely. I had to be a bit antisocial as I had work to do on an evening however I'm sure Dave & Linda would chat as much or as little as suits you. Thanks for my stay. I'd definitely go back & recommend to other guests.

  • Andrews annex had all the amenities needed and was beautifully kept clean. Andrew was very prompt to reply to messages, which was very helpful. He provided some appreciated welcome gifts, such as bread, eggs, bacon and orange juice, which was a lovely touch. No complaints for Andrews annex and we were made to feel very welcome, even with our unsociable furry babies.

    Nicola2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful base managed expertly by Andrew. He was helpful but also gave me the space to just relax. Lovely touches of breakfast food were appreciated. I would stay again.

  • The Island Annex is quite a find. It’s discreetly positioned and once discovered surprises no end. The accommodation is as mentioned in the blurb, but what the blurb fails to mention is the thoughtful way in which the space is furnished and kitted out. The furnishings are far better than one usually finds in holiday lets and was much appreciated by us. The weather turned a wee bit chilly whilst we were there but the with heating, and a thoughtfully provided ‘stove’ effect fire, we were toasty warm. We didn’t have time to explore the lovely Canal-side walks as we were overbooked with other places to visit, including the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which is more or less on the doorstep. We tend to self-cater and used a local supermarket to supplement the over generous basket of goodies that were waiting for us in the kitchen on arrival. There are numerous places to eat within a short distance and we were assured that we wouldn’t be disappointed in using any of them. Our 4 nights stay was over far too quickly, but we plan to return in the spring to revisit favourite places and maybe find some new ones too.

    Edward2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't state highly enough how much I would recommend this accommodation. Lovely setting and 5 star quality facilities. This is a stand alone guest house so complete privacy. • I have just stayed at Karen and Geoff’s place while I was on my travels with work. A lovely warm welcome awaited me when I arrived and Karen made me feel very welcome straight away, I really enjoyed her friendly laid back and relaxing attitude to having guests in her house, it was wonderful. We had a good old chat over a coffee before I headed out for an evening meal. Karen’s house is lovely, clean and tidy all over and my room had everything you could possibly need for a stopover. I would recommend Karen and Geoff’s place to anyone who is visiting the area or heading further north like me and wants to break up the journey, “It’s 4 yeses from me!!”

  • This room was in a lovely family house. The hosts Karen and Gareth were so welcoming and easy to get on with, really made me feel like I could completely relax. The room was spacious, warm, and better than I could have expected, also had my own bathroom. The bed too was comfy, did not want to get out. Access to the village was easy, so close to the M1 but very quiet. Easy to find taxis in the area or to get an uber

Undergoing Refurbishment! Updated photos to follow: A stone's throw away from Barnsley town centre is this fantastic newly refurbished modern three bedroom property with excellent amenities. Bedroom one has a king size bed, bedroom two has a single bed and bedroom 3 has two singles. Please note that bedroom 3 is not suitable for people with mobilty problems or children due to the stairs. This is our second airbnb property that we have launched to cater for larger families/groups.
The property is very close to the town centre and people visiting the town use the side streets to park for free, therefore, parking is restrictive. There are plenty of parking spaces, however, it is not guaranteed parking immediately outside the property. There is more availability during the evening than in the day. The stairs to the third bedroom (on the second floor) are very steep and therefore we advise people with mobility issues not to use this room. We also recommend that you use the handrail provided along with coming down backwards to ensure your safety.

  • Once again we had a great stay at this lovely place. My daughter said she had the best 2 night's sleep she'd had in a long time due to the super comfy bed and peace and quiet. I highly recommend Peter's lovely abode and I will no doubt be staying again in the future.

The Wortley Double Bedroom, is at the back of the building overlooking Wortley Farm Shop. It has a private en-suite shower room. We don’t allow pets in this room, we do allow pets in our other rooms.

We are offering a self contained studio in our garden. There is an en-suite bathroom, TV, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi. The village gastropub is 100m away and a great village shop that will serve breakfast and lunch in their tea rooms.
The space is modern and airy within a traditional stone building. There is a king size bed, sitting area, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and television. We can provide further crockery and cutlery if necessary should you wish to buy food and bring it back to eat, although we cannot provide cooking facilities. We provide tea, coffee, fresh milk, and biscuits. The ensuite bathroom has a bath and shower. The studio is centrally heated and very cosy. The studio has it's own Wi-Fi router and recently upgraded Superfast Broadband. . There is a patio outside if you want to sit out with a drink to watch the sunset. It gets the last bit of sun in the garden!
Cawthorne is a very popular and pretty village nestled in a beautiful rural landscape a few miles from the Pennines and a short drive to the edge of the Peak District. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is only 4 miles away, one of the international 'must see' Art Galleries. The Hepworth, Wakefield is also only a 15min drive. Cannon Hall, with it's lovely park is on the doorstep and Cannon Hall Open Farm, Cannon Hall Garden Centre and the Cawthorne Maize Maze (summer only) are right next door. Cawthorne has a wonderful village store (across the road from our house) and tea room that opens at 8am for breakfast; (Croissant, Granola, Yogurt, Toast, etc) if you choose. There is a great Antiques Centre (featured on BBC's Antiques Road Trip), which also serves coffees and lunches. The Spencer Arms pub is literally on the doorstep serving lunches and evening meals. This is a popular pub far and wide and booking is advisable. Beatson House restaurant is another popular alternative for eating out in the evening, again, a hundred yards from the Studio. If you are interested in walking there is a wealth of beautiful walks ranging from a gentle stroll to a challenging hike on the Peaks or over the Pennines. There are many lovely walks on our doorstep - no need for a car! We are happy to lend you maps and give advice. Cycling is a very popular activity here and a great way to get around but be warned - it is hilly! We are close to the Trans Pennine Trail and the route of the 2014 Tour de France, and the 2015 & 2017 Tour de Yorkshire came through Cawthorne and Penistone. The cities of Sheffield and Leeds are a quick journey away, with a wealth of interesting cultural activity and great shopping. The lovely town of Holmfirth, made famous by 'Last of the Summer Wine' is a 15 minute drive. Huddersfield, Barnsley and Wakefield are all close by.
  • Lovely space in a nice little village, close to amenities, host was excellent. Highly recommend.

  • We had a lovely time at Sarah's place. The studio is very cute and in easy walking distance to the local pub which served excellent meals.. Milk, tea and coffee provided and also some homemade cookies...we may well be back next year as the fishing nearby was great!

  • Over a very cold Yorkshire weekend, the Garden Studio was a very comfortable, warm and cosy place to spend a couple of nights whilst visiting the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the new Hepworth Museum in Wakefield. Each of these are just 10 minutes away, and both are superb. The studio itself was beautifully clean and functional, quietly located in a lovely stone-built village - we slept like babies in the crisp cotton sheets. The Spencer Arms, a short walk, did very good food. Thank you!!

  • Sarah's Garden Studio is a perfect base for pursuing business and pleasure – nearby or within its welcoming walls. It is exactly as the photos depict it: bright, clean, airy, finished to the highest standards and with delicious teas and treats. The only surprises: It sits atop a hill in the garden, giving a brilliant birds'-eye view of the garden and Cawthorne's rooftops; that I'd be booking again so soon (very)! Thanks, Sarah, Andy, and Sam for your warm welcome!
