  • Best value AirBnB that we’ve found so far. Sparkling clean. Comfortable bed. Easy access. Very quiet. Nice extra touches, like plenty of accessible plugs to charge things, and a beverage fridge with water bottles. Newly remodeled and large modern bathroom shower. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked inviting. Host was extremely responsive before and during the visit. Denise was able to strike the right balance of friendliness while also being respectful of our privacy. I will definitely use this AirBnB the next time I’m in the area!

Latest Review: Reviewed 2 days ago NEW Wow! This one goes in the memory bank! Cathy and Scotty opened their historic bed & breakfast home and their carriage house to us with warm hospitality, soft back-ground music, and the best of Cathy's cooking and kindness. Scotty was always there with a good story that followed with a good laugh. (read more)
  • Cathy is a wonderful host of wonderful B & B. A Very warm and inviting place with large grounds filled with fabulous camellias!

  • Every once in a while we discover the essence of our idea of the AirBnB experience. It's stumbling into a unique place that you would never find any other way. A lasting impression that truly makes a trip to remember. Monticello Florida is not exactly a common location but it turns out it's a sleepy antebellum city east of Tallahassee. Loaded with antique stores and not much else, it's one of those check out/turn off destinations. Cathy & Scott have spent a lifetime collecting obscure items and they've managed to place layers upon layers of these unique finds in their mansion on Main St. The AirBnB unit we stayed in was an out building at the back of the property. The theme of the room is Native American culture. It's almost like stepping into a window of history with all your modern amenities. Cathy is a terrific chef so we didn't have to worry about meals. They happen in the big house. So if your driving south from Atlanta to the gulf coast of Florida this is a marvelous place to stop and break up the trip.

  • The location was ideal to walk into Monticello being approx. 2-3 blocks from the primary commercial district. The carriage house also offered space for our portable crib and privacy. There are many decorative items in the carriage house and not just the bed and sparse items as reflected in one of the photos. Cathy and Scotty were very welcoming into their B&B and the breakfast was fantastic.

    Tim & Stephanie2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was so fun! Neat decor - lots of things to look at! Cathy and Scott are great hosts. You can tell that they enjoy meeting people, and are very easy to talk to. The food was awesome! The house is within walking distance from downtown Monticello, with a few restaurants and antique shops. Unfortunately we did not get to check them out because everything closed before Saturday evening. But that gives us an excuse to go back! Just walking/driving around the neighborhoods and seeing old homes, buildings, and cemeteries is interesting, too! Take a walk around the neighborhood, you might see a ghost :0

    Emily2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is cool. Private carriage house was in a gorgeous camellia garden. Very entertaining hosts and their lifetime of art and artifact collecting was very interesting. The house was great. Their little restaurant at the main house was delicious. Was a wonderful stay.

  • Nice place in the middle of nowhere to just relax. The room was very unique and made for a very nice experience.

    Jennifer2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy went out of her way to accommodate me during my stay... I had a demanding schedule which made a normal check-in difficult, took me away for the entire day and had me returning to my room in the middle of the night! I am looking forward to returning for a longer and more leisurely visit!

    Kimberly2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had high expectations of the hospitality and quirkiness of this gem after reading other reviews and boy were we not disappointed! Cathy and Scotty were splendid hosts both bringing their own background and charm to an already charming town and home. They treat you like family or returning guests from the off and will go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. Our seventh wedding anniversary was memorable equally for the room (we stayed in the western themed carriage house). The other themed rooms in the historic Victorian home were also warm and inviting without being gaudy or over the top. The garden is majestic with its hundred plus year old pines among other soaring wonders that make this part of Florida so rich to enjoy outdoors. Dinner (recommended) was sumptuous and enjoyed on the huge porch - Cathy is quite the chef! Breakfast was equally delicious end enjoyed in one of several dining areas with another equally enchanted guest accompanying us. Coupled with a night at the historic Opera house, this was the perfect anniversary weekend. In a few words, we'll be back - thanks Cathy and Scotty!

  • This place is chock full of character and in close proximity to everything Monticello has to offer. I came up with a friend to do the Dirty Pecan 100 mile gravel ride and it was so great to wake up have a nice breakfast and ride 2.5 miles to the start. The hosts are exceptional and the food is really good! I will most certainly be back when I do this event next year!

This 1926 historic home has delightful Victorian antiques and traditional styling with all the modern comforts on a lovely Live Oak tree-lined street where you can safely walk to town or ride your bike past many other historic homes. We are a special neighborhood where we still have good old fashioned neighborhood gatherings with lots of happy faces. Enjoy your Continental breakfast on the screened porch or in your sitting room in total privacy with only the singing birds for company.
WiFi ; small fridge on porch for drinks etc.; pet friendly in Amazon Hut only with pet deposit; Check-out at 10 A.M.
Monticello is renown for its beautiful Historical District homes, many of them haunted, making us "The Most Haunted Town in Florida"! It is a town of magnificent Spanish moss -covered Live Oaks, darling shops and restaurants, and wonderfully kind people.
  • Ginny was a most welcoming and helpful host. She went out of her way to ensure that we were completely taken care of. The Airbnb section of her beautiful home is spacious, nicely furnished, and comfortable. Super bed! This house is tucked away on a large landscaped property good for walking our dogs and getting a bit of exercise. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in the area.

  • Virginia’s place was very comfortable and we are glad to have met her. We had a nice visit with her and loved the breakfast she prepared for us. We especially adored the sitting room and porch. The town of Monticello is full of friendly people and great place to visit! We had a nice 20 minute walk to dinner. We wished we could have stayed longer :)

Approximately 25 miles from Tallahassee, Florida's capital city. Monticello is a charming historic community with close proximity to two major universities featuring many cultural opportunities, state government, and excellent restaurants and shopping. This cottage is located on a quiet neighborhood street, was constructed in 2015 as a mother-in-law home, and offers the amenities of a home away from home.
The double bed has a Tempur-Pedic mattress and box springs.
  • The place is great! Very comfortable and clean with great amenities and the hosts, Ray and Juanice are fantastic! It couldn't have been better staying anywhere in the area. Highly recommended!

    Cameron2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Juanice were absolutely great during my stay. Their place is super clean and very nice. They did everything they could to make me feel at home. Highly Recommended!!

    Ryan2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was the first time we stayed at an Airbnb – we have always been hotel people. But when we couldn’t find a hotel in Tallahassee, we found this gem in Monticello. Monticello is a quiet charming town, and an easy drive to Tallahassee. I am very picky, and this place surpassed my picky expectations. They call it a cottage, but I’d describe it as a house, that feels brand new! This place is beautiful, immaculate, with all the amenities. We felt right at home, the minute we walked in. It had everything we needed and more; comfy bed, laundry room, walk-in closet for all our stuff, full kitchen, car port and beautiful peaceful setting! We fell in love with the place, it was perfect! But the best part of all, was Juanice and Ray. These two are lovely, dear special people. They went above and beyond to make our stay so pleasant. They live in the main house just steps from the cottage, and were available to answer questions, provide recommendations and made us feel at home. This place is wonderful and so much better than a hotel, but Juanice and Ray truly make it special.

    Mark2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We have nothing but great things to say about Ray and Juanice’s place. My fiancé and I were traveling to Monticello for a friend’s wedding over the weekend. Ray and Juanice are so sweet and welcoming. They made us feel right at home, especially giving us a a tour of the cottage upon our arrival. Juanice gifted us delicious home made oats in a breakfast basket and local bakery pastries which were amazing! It’s a fully furnished one bedroom home with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, home office, and master bedroom with a walk-in closet and bathroom with a shower. I liked that the shower was accessible with a bench and pull bars. Also had a retractable shower head which had good water pressure. The home was extremely clean, organized, and smelled good. I loved the amount of space we had and the small personal touches throughout the house like nice linens and towels, closet with hangers, hair dryer and curling iron, soap and shampoo, there was a plate of Dove chocolate for us in the bedroom, and milk, tea, coffee and water for our use in the fridge. There is covered car port for your vehicle. Highly recommend for any one traveling here or to nearby areas. Will be staying next time we’re in town.

  • Easy location from I-10. Large quiet bedroom with comfortable bed and cozy bathrobes. Snacks, wine and cold water were graciously provided as well as a 3 course hot breakfast! Pat and her assistant were very attentive to our needs and upon our arrival, gave us a tour of the house. It is difficult today to find a true bed AND breakfast. This is the place! We highly recommend staying here.

    Patricia2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • I love Bed and Breakfasts. I love this one in particular. It is a very well maintained, original home. It has a friendly vibe if you will. The rooms are spacious, clean and had special touches such as robes, slippers, and bubble bath. Pat is gracious with southern hospitality at its best. There was afternoon wine and brownies. She even had a fridge available for guests stocked with bottled water and sodas. Breakfast was amazing. The chef, Sandra came out personally and greeted us and we loved Marcy who brought us the three course breakfast amd pampered us with re-fills. The had our coffee with a fruit parfait, then came homemade waffles, and finally scrambled eggs and sausage. We actually stayed in the lacy room not the blue room. I loved soaking in a heap of bubbles in the claw foot tub. When we checked in, Pat greeted us, showed us our room and gave us suggestions on dinner in the local area. We choose to visit Thomasville, a town close by that has a very busy historic downtown. We had wine and cheese at the Sweet Grass Dairy, afterwards we went to Jonah's for Fish and Grits. I would highly recommend Pat's 1872 John Denham House bed and breakfast for it's gracious Southern hospitality and charm.

  • It was amazing. I came up for a bicycling event in town and stayed in "The Blue Room". Pat was a lovely and gracious host who did everything she could to accommodate my cycling schedule, including laying out an early breakfast for me and the other riders staying there so we could get out early. The room was top notch, clean and was furnished with beautiful antiques. The entire house, you could tell, has been lovingly maintained and offered an air of elegance. I would absolutely recommend staying there and hope to stay there again if I should ever return to the area.

  • The house is beautiful, with lots of space for our whole family (12 of us). It was great to have all those bathrooms. Even with the rainy weather, with the large dining room and porch, there was plenty of room for small groups to hang out and socialize. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining room comfortably accomodated all of us for eating, visiting and playing games. We had a great time!

    Christine2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time for the second time! It was a perfect place for the reunion of our bicycle trip and we hope to be there next year too!

    Cathy2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place offered way more than the details on air bnb revealed. We were so pleasantly surprised by the three huge bathtubs, two of which where claw foot tubs. There were bathrooms and showers everywhere! This home had three amAzing king size beds, two double beds in one room and yet another queen bed. There was more than enough room for my family of ten. Everyone had a bed and even a bathroom to themselves with couple sharing a bathroom of course. The kitchen has an amazing milkshake machine and we made milkshakes for everyone and enjoyed the nice covered porch on the quiet street. It was a bit chilly with a surprise cold front but we managed just fine with the three working fireplaces and electric heaters as well as the central heat. It takes a lot to heat such a charming and historic home with extremely high and gorgeous ceilings, but pat and her team were so responsive to come and light the fireplaces for us. Pat was available anytime but did not bother us unless we needed something. The only suggestion I have would be to add some board games and activities for families. Something to keep the Little’s entertained so the adults can just hang out. Maybe some games the whole family would enjoy. That would be amazing. There was plenty of parking too and if the weather wasn’t so cold I know we would have all enjoyed the huge private yard and grill. Overall, if you love history and historic homes you will fall in love with this place!

  • This was my first air NBA booking! It was well worth it! This B&B is situated just off the I-10 in a quant little town called Monticello. Antique shops, cafés and a good Mexican resteraunt is just within a 5 minute walk. There is also a historic walking tour just near by. Great way to see the historical homes. The B&B itself is gorgeous and well kept! Everything was nice and clean. The breakfast Pat cooked for us was awesome! Scrambled eggs, spicy sausage, hot toasted croissant, fresh fruit bowl, OJ and fresh brewed coffee gave us a great start to our drive to New Orleans! I would definitely recommend staying at Pats!

  • The Camillia Room was a charming and lovely accommodation in a grand historic home. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. My favorite part of my stay was the AMAZING breakfast that was included: cinnamon pecan pancakes, fruit and yogurt, Georgia sausages. Pat was a great hostess and a fabulous cook. I will definitely stay here when I visit my father again.

  • A great bnb experience! This historic inn is beautifully decorated, with a warm atmosphere provided by Pat. The room was furnished with period pieces and very comfortable. Romantic getaway for us. The breakfast, prepared by Pat and Marcie, was delicious and ample. The menu seemed to come from a Southern Living cookbook. A nice touch was afternoon drinks and snacks. The town of Monticello is always a delight to visit. We will return!

Our room was lovely and very comfortable for us. The house was easy to find, plenty of parking and breakfast was outstanding. Pat and her staff really went out of their way to make her guests feel welcome and comfortable. Each morning, we were served coffee and fresh fruit, followed by a delicious breakfast on a beautifully-set table. Guests came and went during the breakfast hours and chatted comfortably. Although the house was full our second night there, we barely heard any of the other guests and the dining room did not feel crowded in the morning. I would absolutely stay there again when we return to Monticello. Although she had a full house, Pat took the time to sit and chat with me about my house-hunting trip and my desire to buy and restore a historic house. She shared some of her own experiences and gave me some helpful suggestions. All in all, a very enjoyable stay!

Conveniently located in the center of Monticello, about 30 minutes away from Tallahassee. Great home to relax and get away from the typical city setting and live in a southern mansion. 400/night for whole house or 2100/week. 2 night minimum.
This southern mansion was built in 1852 so it is pre-civil war. It is the house in Monticello that most closely resembles it's original state. Come and enjoy the Mayberry-like atmosphere that Monticello has to offer. History buffs will enjoy the historical aspect of this house and all of Monticello.
Located in the historic district of Jefferson County, the Dilworth Barnhill House is walking distance to quaint shops and local restaurants.
  • The house and its interior is breathtaking. The location is perfect. The town was quaint and endearing. The best part about our stay was that the size allowed us all to be together and we spent a lot of time on the veranda at night.

  • If you'd like to have a glimpse of old Southern grandeur, this is the home for you. It was gorgeous. We had more fun just hanging around the house than taking part in the Rose Festival (our original intentions for the trip.) Be prepared for a sleepy little town that closes shop early. If you're ready for that, you'll have a great time.

    Stacey2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house is big and unique it looks like a museum and has only 2 bathrooms.

  • What a wonderful find! This historic home was the perfect place for our visit with my folks in Monticello. It's walkable to restaurants and shops since it's only 1 block off the courthouse circle. Quiet neighborhood with oodles of blooming flowers. The patio, front porch or balcony was the ideal spot to enjoy an end of the day beverage. This place is huge and fun to explore each room to look at all the antiques. We'll be back!

  • The description of this home is very accurate. Large, old plantation home. Very roomy. Great communication w hosts.

  • Kim was extremely responsive, the home had everything we could have possible wanted/needed to support a large family. We spent many hours on the porches and in the many yard spaces and kitchen area. Cooking meals for a large family was easy and serving with all required dishes utensils and pots etc was all there. Lovely home with many antiques and tons of unique touches through out the house.

  • Kim invited our group of students to use her loved Monticello House as a home base during our three day trip to visit Florida's capital. The students really enjoyed learning about the history of the house and getting to stay in a place that pre-dates the Civil War! There was ample spaces for us to share breakfast together in the mornings and a large backyard for them to run around and play football. The students raved about how comfortable the beds were!

  • My husband and I had a delightful time at this wonderful bed and breakfast in Monticello. The Magnolia Room was exquisite with high ceilings, a very comfortable bed, and good light (day and night). Pat's breakfasts were superb, and sitting in the parlor or out on the porch with a glass of wine at days end was so relaxing. Monticello is a cute, funky town. we really enjoyed our stay and used it as a base for exploring Tallahassee and the area.

  • This place has character, charm and history. The property is beautiful and the rooms each uniquely to its own feel. Don’t forget to check out the 3rd floor and the swings In the back yard. The house is solid and sound proof it didn’t echo as I thought it would.

Troy and Gretchen have thought of everything you need for comfort and are happy to share the history of the inn and the town with you. We loved the spectacular breakfasts and the beautiful patio and garden. Monticello is a beautiful 25 minute drive to Tallahassee. We would highly recommend a visit to this inn.

  • This review is more about customer service than my stay. I had requested to stay at their Bed and Breakfast, but there was not an availability. Instead of me missing out on a place to stay, they found another location nearby that was a wonderful place to stay. Since I will have multiple opportunities to be in their area in the future, I plan on return stays. Troy and Gretchen's B and B is full of wonderful antiques and Florida history.

  • Pat accommodated a special event for me and worked with me to allow me the time I needed in the room. She was courteous and offered food/snacks immediately upon arrival. Room was as advertised, clean, and ready for me. Would definitely stay with her again.

    Kyrie2015-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and breakfast is delicious. The home made biscuits, especially. The beds and linens were super comfy but the home is old and there is not a real sense of privacy. We felt everyone in the house could hear us. The Gold Room is by far the best. The staff is accommodating, especially Maggie and Cynthia. Don't expect anything to be happening on a Sunday in Monticello as everything is closed. Overall, a comfortable and budget friendly place to spend the night.

    Levi2015-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was an incredible host. She accommodated for my late check in and made me feel as if it were my home. Great aesthetic- cozy and warm feel. Breakfast is served fresh every morning and was delicious. If I’m ever in the area again, I will stay there. Highly recommend!
