  • We have stayed here twice and have been more than satisfied both times. Great space!

  • As others have said, this is an apartment within the La Quinta. It was extremely clean and a nice space. We slept well, enjoyed the free breakfast, and appreciated the friendly staff.

  • This is a one-bedroom studio apartment at a LaQuinta. It’s spacious, clean, attractive, and equipped with all the basics — plus you have access to all the LaQuinta amenities — breakfast, pool, exercise room. An outstanding value for the price. We would gladly stay here again when traveling through Effingham.

  • Very clean and comfortable. Can’t find a better place to stay in Effingham. Would definitely stay again.

  • This room was located in a hotel and was a really nice place to overnight. There was tons of room, and while travelling with a baby, the most impressive part was the kitchen. There was also a living room area as well as the bedroom and bathroom. Very nice stylish accommodations and the breakfast was better than your usual hotel selections. The only thing that was an issue was the musty smell coming from the air conditioners. So we turned them off for our stay and it was better. Other than that this was a great place to stay.

  • A lovely suite in the La Quinta Inn, close to a walking trail, groceries, restaurants and more.

Cozy, completely private entrance, upstairs apartment of the 1880 house built by owner & Wooden Shoe Maker Gerhard Deymann, which is a historic Folk Victorian home. It is fully furnished & updated keeping much of its historic charm. It has a bikes, grill, patio, yard, private parking & appliances. It is 6 minutes (4 miles) to interstates 57, 70, & dozens of restaurants & 1 block to downtown Teutopolis. It has an indoor 1800's staircase with gate that is fairly steep, but cool. Super safe area.
The home is setup for business and small families. It does have stairs and a child gate. The rooms have a blend of new and antique furniture. It has (2) comfy king beds and a roll away bed for kids or teens. The internet is fast and a large smart tv is available with Netflix, movies and local channels. There is a small brick building next to the home which was the wooden shoe shop during the late 1800's and into the Great Depression. We continue to restore and improve this home and property almost daily. My grandmother, Agnes Kitten, purchased the home after the builder died in 1939. She raised my late father Mack and aunt Jane during 1930's recession and on as a strong single mother. In the 1940’s she created this loft to help pay the bills. The house walls are made from 3 layers of brick (the builder also made the brick). The foundation/cellar were hand dug and made from local gathered stone and mortar. The floor joists are 3"x14" hardwood boards cut from the local trees. We are starting to decorate with historic photos of the property. It is one of the oldest remaining homes in Effingham County.
The neighborhood is super safe. It's a small, extremely clean little town with hard working friendly people. It has a lot of German Heritage and the town is well known for sports (the Wooden Shoes, named from the homes builder/owner/ wooden shoe maker). There is a lot of night life uptown 1 block away if you wish, with a couple restaurants (the Brickbat Bar and Grill is my favorite). The city of Effingham is right next door at 4 miles away and has multiple wineries, theater, dozens of restaurants, bike trails, and more.
  • Future travelers can expect to be surprised by the size and amenities in the loft. This is more than a loft. It’s a comfortable, full blown upstairs apartment. Great place.

  • There is ample space, choice of 2 bedrooms and we slept comfortably. Very thoughtful kitchen set-up, coffee etc. Perfect for a relaxing morning outside before we left.

  • They went above and beyond with hospitality. Very clean space. Loved the historical information within the home. Great tips on fun things to do in the town. I loved being able to go on a bike ride after a long drive! A theme was "lots of pleasant surprises"!

    Benjamin2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great, clean, spacious place close to downtown. Easy check in, great kitchen items. Simple check out. They also have bikes you can use and the small town makes it easy to ride around. My son and I biked a few blocks and encountered some local people, who gave us tips on eating and such. Don't miss the ice cream shop where you can get a hot fudge sundae for $2.75. And lots of local bars. $1 happy hour beer!! Living in the big city, I'm use to $6 happy hour prices. There's not a ton to do in the area, but if you're looking for a safe, affordable over night location, this is great. Definitely recommend.

  • DON'T drive into Effingham and stay and some highway hotel...but DO check yourself into this adorable loft complete with a kitchenette, smart TV and all the coziness of T-Town. The window nook made me want to curl up with my laptop and write (or read) another book. We rode the bikes all over town including the locals hangouts. Peaceful, clean and the best VALUE on both sides of the Mississippi! We look forward to our next stay!

  • This was honestly the most perfect little spot to stay and I highly recommend it to anyone who might need a place to stay in the area, short- or long-term! So many nice, thoughtful touches and a cozy, clean home base for a few days.

    McKenna2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can not say enough about to his place. Only our second opportunity to stay at an Arbnb. I cannot recommend this place enough. Obviously, you have to be able to do the steps. That being said, you will love this place. The history, the TV with Netflix AND fireplace and most comfy loveseat ever. Snacks galore and bed and bath were perfect. I could go on and on. Everyone should have this experience.

    K2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • This adorable place is a must stay! The touches are personal, the accommodations are clean and cheery, and the town has wonderful food! It is nice and quite, beds are comfortable and it is my favorite place to stay when traveling through Illinois. Leo is quick to respond and has down a great job letting guests know about the historical background of his adorable place.

Outlet covers and other items have been done to protect smaller children. The bathtub has safety strips. The internet is fast and a large smart tv is available with movies. There are books and toys in the big living room. There are 2 comfy king beds, 2 single roll away beds for teens or kids, and a crib. • What a neat little slice of history! Spacious, family friendly, and deep in the heart of small town USA! Or, at least it sure felt like that! Best part, was being able to wash clothes! Thanks for everything, we will definitely come back!

    Amber2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, neat, and they left donuts!

    Steve2018-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • The bed linens were high quality and clean. Everything that was utilized worked as advertised, the place comes with viable WiFi, and within walking distance of any day-to-day needs. The price point is well below a comparable hotel in nearby Effingham, and the check-in process was exceptionally effective. If I ever have to conduct more business in this area, this location would be my first choice for overnight accommodations. Highly recommended.

    Matt2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • You will be charmed! Such a fun space. Comfortable beds. Clean. Easy access from 57/70. Communication was stellar. Hope to stay here annually for many years to come!

  • Leo was a great host! The house was cozy and what was expected! Super clean and the house itself is beautiful. Leo made sure we had everything and was quick on his responses! I am recommending it to anyone and everyone. I give it a 10 out of 10!

    Stephanie2018-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a very spacious space in which to stay. The washer and dryer were definitely a plus. Breakfast items were put out for our use, as well as coffee, milk and juice. The bed was very comfortable and everything we needed was available to us. We would definitely book a stay again with Leo.

The cabin sits in the trees along beautiful Lake Sara. The newly remodeled cabin offers a quiet place to relax and unwind. You can bring your kayaks, paddle boards or trailer your family boat along for some fun tubing and skiing on the lake. The dock allows for the boat to be left in the water till the end of your stay. The Marina, Pinky’s (waterfront restaurant & bar), Cardinal Golf Course, Lake Sara Campground and Lake Sara Beach are all a short walk from the cabin!
The neighborhood is a quiet lane located just behind the Lake Sara Campground.
  • The view along with the food and the people made this amazing trip what it was. Loved the kayaking and well kept home. Would love to come back again!

  • Todd & Ambers was a wonderful escape. Located on a beautiful nook of a lovely lake, nestled in the middle of wide open spaces. Gorgeous sunsets & views.

    Melody2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Coworkers and I stayed here for almost 3 weeks on a business trip. The lake house was wonderful and the changing leaves were a treat. Todd & Amber got us internet which was amazing and then gave us a gift since it was installed later than expected which was even more amazing! We didn't have time to enjoy the lake besides the wonderful view. The neighborhood was quiet and the house is only minutes from shopping areas. I would definitely recommend this house and plan to stay here again for future business trips.

    Isaac2016-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had another nice trip! This is our second year in a row - the house is right on the water which makes the stay very enjoyable. Todd and amber are great hosts who are very responsive!

    James2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this little house this past weekend. The lake was beautiful and we had a blast canoeing and kayaking. One thing we misunderstood from the listing was that it only had two rooms with double beds....but we made out fine because there was a nice little cot to put in the room with a twin bed. The house and kitchen were clean and Todd and Amber very good to work with. We would enjoy coming back if all works out well.

    Rachel2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nice location on the lake Fun time

    Matt2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
