  • Great place!

    Yueting2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Just stayed 1 night, will definitely be back for more than 1 next time.

  • Location is everything and this hostel is in the heart of it all. It is $30-40 lyft ride from the airport. I'm sure there are other cheaper alternatives if you do your due diligence ahead of time. The hostel is on the fourth floor (no elevators) so just a heads up if you have a lot of luggage (which you shouldn't if you're staying at a hostel.) The hosts (which rotated throughout) were hospitable. This hostel provided free PB&J sandwich which is a little extra that goes a long way. They also have a calendar for group activities/bonding throughout the week. They do provide towels but everything else, you are on your own. I stayed here one night so my review is just for a night stay. I was able to walk over to Hog Island Oyster Co and watch the Bay Bridge lit up. I also took a $5 lyft ride to Mission District to hang out at a few bars. Overall, if you want to go to SF by yourself and under a budget, I would recommend Darren & Friend's place.

  • This was my first time staying at a hostel and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The volunteers are great - they know everything about San Francisco and direct you to whatever fits your interest. There is a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere in general and you meet travelers from all over the world. Beds are comfy, the kitchen has everything you'll need, and the place is clean overall. Most importantly, the hostel is located in a perfect spot with easy access to major transportation lines. I highly recommend this hostel and will certainly stay here again.

    Amber2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a nice and friendly atmosphere! Definitely in the prime location of the financial district, reliable transportation to nearly every place in San Francisco. Clean, neat, and perfect place for a lone traveler like myself. I enjoyed my stay at this hostel and will definitely recommend this to anyone who is visiting San Francisco.

    Connie2015-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for three nights and heard that it is the most popular hostel in SF... and it proves to be a great experience indeed. You get to know cool people from all over the world even you just stay for a short time. Staff are super nice. You will be given helpful tips on city navigation on the first day you arrive. Very helpful for first time visitor. The space is very clean especially the bathroom area. Really appreciate that. Thank you Ashley, Ryan and Henry!! You've been very helpful. Ryan: Good luck on chasing your dream. I know you can do it :)

The newly remodeled bedroom is located in my 6 bdr 6 bath unit It's just one block from the Top of Nob Hill where the Fairmont, Mark Hopkins, and Huntington hotels are located and a short stroll to Union Square, Chinatown and several other popular amenities. Each room has its own private en-suite bathroom and electronic lock for added privacy and convenience, Wi-Fi, fresh towels and linens, smart TV, desk, etc. We have several rooms available so please inquire if you need more than one.
Washer and dryer are located in the room on your right first thing entering the unit. Extra toiletries, towels, and cleaning supplies can be found in one of the closets in the hallway.
I love living in this neighborhood, and know that its prime location and proximity to popular landmarks, will make you fall in love with San Francisco, as much as I have. Street parking is sometimes available, but I recommend the nearby parking garages with overnight and long-term parking options low as $20/night. If you do decide to do parking on the street, please be sure to read the signs as some of the streets in the neighborhood will tow during certain days/hours of the week. Do not leave any of your personal belongings inside either in plain view or in the trunk hidden. This is a safe neighborhood, but theft tends to require citywide vigilance.
  • Great location, close to parks, amenities and food, also close to Chinatown. It was really clean, and well stocked. Had access to washer/dryer, fridge, etc.

    Travis2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, just awesome. Perfect room with private en suite bathroom. Lots of small touches. Extremely clean. Comfortable bed with really nice linens/pillows. Easy directions and close to anywhere and everywhere in SF. Jessica was fabulous, thank you! I'll be back in a heart beat.

    David2019-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Good value, bedroom was tiny but nice common space

    Emily2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica’s place was a clean, safe choice for my week in San Francisco. She provided a helpful guide of walkable restaurants and activities. She was very fast to respond to my last minute booking and check in was a breeze. I will definitely stay here for any future SF trips if it is available.

    Hayley2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very quick response from Jessica. Excellent location. Proximity to downtown. A bit pricy. Sound proof is not that good as I need ear plugs to insulate the noise from other rooms (though it was just people chatting). Room is a bit small but very clean. Overall good experience.

    Zhentian2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, only a couple of blocks from Union Square. Very clean, ensuite bathroom, key-less entry, private, with common spaces and kitchen open if you wished to be out of your room, also very comfy bed!

    Sierra2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica’s place is almost like a boutique hotel, with a few rooms and a common area. Self Check-in was easy, rooms were private. It’s not super quiet, but very typical for San Francisco. The bed was very comfortable and the shower pressure was good. Jessica was extremely quick to respond to an issue after check-in, getting everything handled for me while I was out. I’d definitely stay here again.

Location, Location, Location! This clean, private, unique hotel room with shared hallway bath is a short walk to the Famous Cable Cars, Nob Hill, Public Transit, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Grace Cathedral, AT&T Park, Polk Street, and more! You’ll love the place because of the location, the people, and the value! This room was recently painted and furnished with new linens. The shower and toilet are located in the hallway of the hotel. They are cleaned every day by professional cleaners.
  • What you pay for. Location was nice, and room was clean. Halls smelled of smoke, and the shared shower was gross the first night, but better the next day.

    Meghan2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The hotel filled my expectations, what you receive is what you pay. Even the bathroom and toilets are shared, almost always are clean and you can use any in the hotel (2 toilets and 1 shower per floor) so it was ok, the room has also a small fridge so you can buy some things to eat. I would widely recommend to stay in the hotel if you want good price, great location and a good place to sleep. I had a very good time there.

    Viviana2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Don't like this hotel. Will not recommend .

    Maria2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place if your there to enjoy the city and it's surroundings. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your room better to look elsewhere. For the price it hits the mark!

    Dylan2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • I would go back, minor issues around missing towels and a non functioning elevator but the staff has a good attitude and the location can't be beat. Do go with the understanding that this is old style hoteling, shared baths and toilets so you depend a little on the other guests being considerate. It got a little noisy at times but that wouldn't stop me from returning.

    Tim2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • great location to go to union square, very close to Chinatown and very convenient to grocery stores and transports.

    Phuwanat2017-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Location is great, and the room is fairly spacious for 1-2 people. Overall a good value!

    Yoeal2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This building is currently undergoing renovation on some of the same floors where guests are staying. The rooms can get quite warm, so not ideal for someone who likes it cool (or quiet as you may need to open the window).

No parking at the Hotel, special parking rate available at a nearby garage. Each room includes: Basic satelite TV Free WiFi access Free morning coffee No A/C
  • If you're looking for a place to stay in a great location downtown, it's hard to beat this price, but keep in mind, there's no AC and streaming video on their WiFi is not the best (was watching UFC Saturday night and EPL Sunday morning). I made the mistake of booking without knowing their's no AC, so falling asleep took a while after a hot sunny day, but once the sun set, it wasn't a problem. My favorite things were the staff, which held my bags before check in and after check out while I explored the city, and the view from my window. If you plan to spend nearly all your time outside the room and just need a place to crash, and you're fine without AC or reliable video streaming, this is your spot. Overall, I would stay again but not in the summer, and I would plan my time better so I only come back to crash.

    Samuel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This location is great if you need to be in the middle of the financial district. This is close to a lot of good food and drink places. It's nice to walk outside and be surrounded by great culture.

    Justin2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This hotel is in a great location with friendly staff! Free parking is not available. Double room has very small beds.

    Michelle2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, 24h check in, clean room. I recommend

    Robin2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Be cautious that the rooms do not look like the photos. They are tiny, almost closet-sized with really uncomfortable beds and uncleaned carpeting. The bathrooms are also incredibly small, with about one square foot to move around, and funky, dirty soap and conditioner containers in the shower.

    Taylor2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Good place and location to stay.

    Marielle2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Decent hotel but good value given central location. Room was basic but for one night, it was fine. Downside was the noise from the street was disruptive although it was hot so we had the windows open

    Rob2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This venue is really worth What you’re paying. Although it’s not the most comfortable accommodation, it’s location more than makes up for it, and the accommodations are very clean. I really appreciated the kind staff as I came and went. Altogether, I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

  • This was a great place to stay! Rick was a super accommodating host and quick to answer all my questions/concerns. The location is pretty great if you’re a tourist in the city since it’s close to great food and entertainment.

    Maria2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's apartment was beautifully appointed with every attention to detail, which made for a very comfortable stay. The apartment was also in an excellent location, sometimes noisy but this is clearly stated. Rick went out of his way to accomodate any request. Many thanks for making our stay in San Francisco so memorable, Rick.

    Yolanda2012-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow Rick what a gem you so graciously shared with us! Besides the ideal central location the accommodations are luxurious. My family was very comfortable. The washer and dryer right outside our door was a life saver. I was excited to find the pictures of your place on AirBnB and the coordination with you was so easy. We are pleased how our budget afforded 2 bedrooms instead of 1 hotel room. It definitely added to the enjoyment of our Spring Break trip. Oh and the Apple computer for our use in the Master Bedroom.... Way cool. I really felt like a local rolling out of bed to run downstairs for Milk & Eggs... Oh yeah and the Italian pastries just steps away too added to our waist line! Good thing the shopping at Union Square was a few more steps away! We do look forward to seeing you again. We will have a space to share here in Florida too.

    Patti2012-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great apartment in a central location! It is well looked after and beautifully presented - lovely furniture, linen and amenities, including an ipad, which was a bonus! Jim met us and gave us all the information we need. Would definitely recommend this apartment in San Francisco.

    Liz2013-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Clean apartment, nicely decorated. Good location, close to bus stops, and walking to shops. Noisy at night due to a bar nearby.

    Danny2013-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is beautifully appointed and has everything you need and more…a Mac, Netflix, great linen, coffee, large oven, city guides etc. Rick was very responsive and helpful, they even set up a crib with gorgeous linen for our baby. The apartment has two bedrooms which is perfect for a couple with an infant or two couples. The apartment is in a great location, we walked to Fisherman’s Warf, Union square and many other sites. Our only complaint would be the noise levels, the apartment is closely located to bars, restaurants and food markets so consequently it was very noisy at night and early in the morning. This however, would probably not be a problem for those who don't have a baby and can actually be part of this fun aspect of San Fran… Thank-you Rick, for helping to make our stay in San Francisco so enjoyable.

    Claire2011-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and two friends had the great pleasure in staying at Rick's appartment in October 2011. We had such a wonderful time and nothing was too much trouble for Rick. The space was spotless and had all we could have wanted. Everything was in easy reach from the appartment and I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again if I am so lucky to find myself in San Francisco. Thanks so much Rick for making our stay that little bit extra special. x

    Lucy2011-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I strongly recommend Rick's apartment. It is clean, comfortable and in the heart of the city. Rick is a nice person and gave useful info for us!

  • Nando has always been very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and parking lots are available on Vallejo St. Nando even offers a garage. All in all the location was a very good choice!

    Michael2018-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nando was a great host, promptly replying to any questions with a late booking. Nando also helped with an early check-in for a small fee, which was completely worth it. The location was ideal as well!

  • Great place and value. Close to a lot of things!!! Would stay here again

    Miguel2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you get the loft room, there are no mirrors in the lower bedroom level so you have to drag your things up the staircase to the bathroom level. It’s a cute idea but not very practical. Also, the bed frame has a built in light that never shuts off.

    Erin2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Smaller than expected, the spiral staircase seems like a cool idea until you realize how impractical it is. Good location though!

This exquisite home was built in 1913. It is located in a top affluent area of downtown, adjacent to Nob Hill. This rare townhouse style home has four levels of grandeur; this room is on the penthouse (4th floor). There is a walk-in closet, a shared bathroom with an oversized shower. The room features a top notch Q bed set by Hotel Collection This room also has a walk out balcony. Sleep 1-3 people After one guest,Each additional guest is $30 for a night st parking ,parking garage a block away
All walk a distance to Union Square ,downtown San Francisco ,shopping malls and of variety restaurants convenient convenient convenient !!!
  • Pros: Mary is really nice and accommodating; place is sparkling clean; location is good, short walk to downtown, but far enough away from the bad areas Cons: the shared bathroom situation is a bit awkward - two rooms have access to the bathroom via doors in their respective rooms, so you have to remember to unlock the other person's door to the bathroom every time you are done using the batheoom; my room happened to be on the top floor - the steps are steep so if you have a lot of luggage it might be hard; when I visited SF, they were struck with an unexpected heat wave - the top floor gets really hot with little airflow and no AC. Mary provides a fan, but even then the room at night is about 5-10 degrees warmer than the outside temperature, so it was very uncomfortable to sleep in. This heat wave does not occur often so I guess I might have gotten unlucky

    Samantha2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay at Mary’s place. She is thoughtful and very responsive. The home is immaculate, and the location is ideal for those looking to explore SF or be a short distance away from the Moscone convention center. Would definitely stay again!

  • Mary's home is lovely -- it's close to so many cool restaurants and is a quick walk away from the pier. The actual room had extremely thoughtful touches and everything was super tidy and clean. The view from the balcony is also stunning!

  • It was a great stay! Mary is a great person and so a helpful host with ideas what to visit and where to go. The communication was so fast and easy . The apartment is in the city centre and the ways are really short. Thank you Mary. I really enjoyed it.

Head the other direction towards Jackson Square for Michelin rated Quince and Coi (2 Michelin stars), or Mediterranean Kokkari Estiatoria (rated #1 on TripAdvisor). Climb up the hill to the historic landmark, Coit Tower. Or, enjoy the sights and sounds of Chinatown and the original fortune cookie factory! Chinatown’s Grant street leads right to Union Square and world-class shopping at the Nike Store, Macy’s, Dior, Levis, and much, much more.

Close to Union Square, Nob Hill, Chinatown, and the cable car, this hotel suite offers a quintessential San Francisco experience. Your room at the Worldmark San Francisco is well equipped for exploring the city with a queen size bed, full bathroom, and mini-fridge to store leftovers from the area's great restaurants.
The workout room means you don't have to leave your routine when you're away from home. The main floor has a free laundry room. WiFi is $4.95/day. Ask about parking charges.
This neighborhood is in the heart of San Francisco, close to everything, and with restaurants, pubs, and a convenience store all in close proximity.
  • It was actually a boutique hotel, with a very good location, so close to Union Square and near to everywhere. I was upgraded to a bigger suite room. You may expect some noise from the street, while the host prepared some earplugs in the room, and you may find them very helpful.

    Victor2018-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great room for a fantastic price. All other rooms close to convention center were $600+ during convention I was attending. Only 1 mile walk which is not an issue for me. Check in was easy and it has a hotel feel. Older but nice building with great restaurants close by. Felt relatively safe but lots of homeless in area. Some belligerent but not hotels fault, it’s like that everywhere by the convention center. Only was surprised by no housekeeping service during my stay but again not a big deal. Would stay there again. Great communication during whole process.

    Lauren2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clean room, nice staff, and a great location.

    Benjamin2019-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, clean, spacious and well-appointed hotel. Felt very safe and secure as it’s not a residential building but fully-staffed hotel. Take note that there is no daily housekeeping as per a “normal” hotel but they provided us with soap and shampoo which is great. The property is situated very close to Union Square and Chinatown and within close proximity to bus stops that will take you all over the beautiful city of San Francisco. Highly recommended!

  • This is a hotel! My stay was went well. Was a convenient location, easy to check in. (Is a hotel, but room not cleaned in between nights.) Wifi costs extra, room not suspect that host is a business, not a person :)

Welcome to our home for budget-minded students, interns and J-1 work abroad participants visiting San Francisco for 1 to 6 months. Unlike other shared houses on Airbnb that crowd many housemates into the same room, here you will have just one roommate. The atmosphere here is friendly, social and international. You should be flexible, open to sharing, and have a high level of understanding and tolerance to cultures and customs that are different than your own.
Our home was created to encourage as much interaction between housemates as possible and still provide students with more quiet and privacy than is possible in a hostel. However there still is a lot of dynamic social atmosphere in our house. Our two person rooms are shared with other housemates of the same gender, unless opposite gender roommates have agreed to share. Unlike a hostel, the rooms have a desk, drawers an space to spread out, decorate, and make your temporary home feel comfortable. Housemates enjoy a free high speed internet Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, private bathrooms and laundry facilities. There's also a community common lounge with comfy sofas, chairs and community desks. Many of us also usually chip in and enjoy one weekly community meal together. We offer flexible and affordable monthly rates. This is month-to-month rental accommodation so a housemate request application and credit check is required. New housemates pay for at least one month to start. But unlike other homes, that require a fixed term contract, here you always have the option of checking out early, if your plans change. Please contact us for more details on this. We hope you will contact us for further information.
  • A very good spot to stay 2 months but you have to pay for the laundry and the internet connection are very slow.

    Lucas2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience at the homestay! I was from the midwest and knew absolutely no one in the bay area. Since I had so many fun roommates from around the world, I instantly had 12 friends in the city. Shelly did a great job taking care of the house, and it was really fun getting to know everyone. Darren did a great job maintaining the house if there ever was a problem. I look forward to coming back sometime!

    Ross Wagner2011-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Shelli's Haus is just an incredible place to stay if you are lucky enough to find an open slot. There are kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, 2 showers, and plenty of places to study/lounge around. The best part about the homestay is the people: all other students/interns just as eager as you are to explore the city. For those of you interested in staying with Shelli, I should mention that there is a very reasonable $40 monthly cleaning fee added to the monthly stay once you get to the house. Shelli is wonderful and takes care of all of it!

    Akhil2012-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • I loved living at Shelli's house. I met an amazing and diverse group of people who are like family. The house itself is super conducive to socialization, and it's very well situated close to central bart stations. The whole city is accessible not to mention the awesome food of Chinatown. Definitely the biggest plus of living at Shelli's would be all the interesting and vibrant people who lived there. Thanks for a fantastic summer, see you in 'frisco soon!

    Olivia2013-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Shelli is a great host, and the homestay is in a very convenient location. In addition, many students from all over the world live in the space, so it's a fantastic home to stay in while exploring SF.

    Will2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Shelly was our host and made sure I had everything I needed and was an excellent resource on the neighborhood whenever I had a question about it. Despite there being 12 guests, there are 3 floors, 2 full bathrooms and one 1/2 bathroom, everyone has their own desk/bureau setup and only ONE roommate so there is remarkably plenty of space and most everyone is a student or doing an internship so most times the house is pretty empty. The neighborhood has everything you need (for cheap! Hey, it's chinatown...) and nearby, and thehouse is pretty centrally located in the city, so work, eating out and shopping are close. The street is quiet since it's not a main street, so hardly any traffic, and the view from the rooftop is great. Would definitely recommend.

This is a clean, spacious comfortable but spare room located on the second floor (no lift) of an older traditional San Francisco flat. The location is right in the heart of the city's desirable neighborhoods and destinations. The rate reflects the value of its location and the no-frills guest rooms. There is a highly trained service dog in residence who is never in guest rooms. The resident host can accommodate an earlier than 3pm check-in if advance notice is received.
SAN FRANCISCO SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL RENTAL REGISTRATION NUMBER STR (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Possession of a San Francisco Short-Term Rental Registration Certificate certifies that the registration certificate holder has agreed to comply with the terms of the San Francisco Short-Term Residential Rental Ordinance (San Francisco Administrative Code Section 41A). This ordinance does not require an inspection of the unit by the City for potential Building, Housing, Fire, or other Code violations. This apartment is centrally located in historic and beautiful North Beach amongst cafes, restaurants, parks and historical sites. It's a short walk to Chinatown, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and the Financial District. The apartment is located on the second floor (walk up one flight of stairs) and has two permanent tenants. This private bedroom is the front bedroom in the apartment. It is about 10 ft X 11 ft and accommodates two people. It has bay windows, a sliding door closet a full size Ikea futon bed, a 2-door dresser and a small writing desk. The room has its own lock and key. We have another room available in this apartment as well as you may notice below in the reviews. Freshly washed bed linens and towels are provided, along with an electric blanket. A well equipped kitchen is available. There is a small shared bathroom, with hair dryer provided. No smoking, drugs or pets. Parking is not provided. The resident host, Greg works from home and therefor is quite helpful in greeting guests to let them in, getting them settled and giving them tips about the neighborhood. The check-in time is 3 pm, but we are open to other times in case of earlier arrival (email me if so). Check -out at 11 am. We look forward to meeting you and helping you enjoy your time in beautiful San Francisco!
Centrally located near San Francisco's most popular and colorful neighborhoods: North Beach, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf and the Financial District. Incredibly fun and always entertaining with great restaurants that represent the city's cultural diversity.
  • Greg was a great host, he went out of his way to inform us on all things San Fran. He was also happy to meet earlier then discussed and allowed us to keep our bags in storage till our late flight. The room was clean and in a great location.

  • Irina and Greg were great! good communicators, easy to deal with, and very helpful! The apartment was comfortable, clean and the apartment was in a great location.

    Warren2014-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The location is excellent, just a block off of Washington Square. The room itself is a bit spartan, if clean. The bed is quite hard, and there is a lot of light and noise to deal with at night (including from the hallway, not just the street). I did not sleep well. The shower in the bathroom is very low, probably the lowest I've seen. As a tall man (6'6") it was very uncomfortable to use. Host was fine. I only met Greg, never saw Irina.

    Beau2014-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Didn't have a chance to meet Irina and communication with her was kind of slow, but her roommate- Greg was extremely hospitable and helpful. The location of the room is perfect in that everything is just about a 10-15 min walk away! The room itself was very homey and comfortable.

    Christine2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • This one one of the best Airbnbs I've actually ever stayed at. Located close the water front, it's in the perfect area for anyone spending a couple of days in San Francisco. The host was very easy to communicate with and the man looking after the house, Greg, was incredibly helpful, courteous and easy to talk to. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting San Francisco

  • I travel to SF frequently for work and have stayed in many AirBnBs, and this was definitely my favorite so far. The room was spotless and very comfortable, the on-suite bathroom was absolutely perfect. The place is newly refinished in a thoughtful and comfortable way. The location is great - I enjoyed being in Chinatown, and it was easy walking distance from many things. Check in and out could not have been easier. I absolutely hope to be able to stay here again in the future.

This is a Private Room located on the edge of North Beach and China Town. Very close to Downtown, China Town, North Beach and Fishermans Wharf. Great location!
Location is key, this spot is central to almost everywhere in SF. The apartment is shared with another renter, bathroom is also shared. The room has some closet space, dresser space, a TV with an HDMI cable and Chrome Cast.
Good neighborhood, great local bars and restaurants. You're in the heart of the Italian and Chinese districts. North Star is my favorite local bar.
  • Good place, well Situated in San Francisco. The place is shared with a girl who live here all the year. No many interaction with her.

  • I was in town for a conference, and Pete's place was perfect. His apartment was in a good location in Chinatown, and had a simple and clean set up, with good bedding and underfloor heating. He's a friendly guy, and was on hand for advice and what not. All up, I'm happy with the place, and would definitely stay there again if I was in town.

  • Pretty good choice if you need a place to stay for a couple of months. About 15 min walk to financial district, 20 min to Montgomery station. Location is on the edge of Chinatown, a relatively safe neighborhood with cheap food options. Although not shown in the pictures, the room came with a dresser, tv, desk, and desk chair which was nice. The building itself is old and could use some renovations. Another review complains about noise coming from the heating pipes, and I definitely could hear them at times. I never had an issue with the noise, but I can definitely see it being a problem for light sleepers. Overall, if you're looking for a walking distance commute to financial and are willing to live in an older building, this is a good place to stay.

This clean, private, budget hotel room with private full bath is PERFECTLY LOCATED. A short walk to the Famous Cable Cars, Nob Hill, Main Hub for Public Transit, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Grace Cathedral, AT&T Park, Polk Street, and more! You’ll love the place because of the location, the people, and the value! This single room with one double bed & private full bath is good for everyone who wants to be in the heart of the action at a very reasonable price!
The space was recently painted and also has a brand new hardwood floor as of November 2016. As of January, 2017 we have completed a renovation of our Wi-Fi service and are happy to provide service throughout the building.
Our location is 1 block from Chinatown and 1 block from Union Square.
  • Great central location, clean and easy check-in and check-out, even has a great historical elevator! Cooking is possible, tra and coffee facilities available.

  • Perfect location and the host was very responsive. A few minor suggestions have been made to improve experience but overall very happy with our stay

  • Being a new yorker, I am very familiar with this sort of housing. In NYC we call it a single residence occupancy hotel. The building is over 100 years old and was built as a medium to long term hotel originally. There are some tenants who are long-term (decades, even) and some that are just overnight. My room had a bathroom in it, but the presence of hallway shower and toilet rooms speaks to the fact that some do not. This is typical of SRO-type housing. The building itself is very nice - first floor coffee and washing machines, and the room was clean if a bit spare. My only real complaints were small ones - WIFI is a bit weak, and the bed was on rollers. Given that the building is so old it shouldn't be a surprise that the floors are a little uneven, so the bed would roll away from the wall. A quibble, but it would be nice to have locks on the bed wheels. Location can't be beat - walking distance to Chinatown and major Market Street public transportation including the BART.

  • The place was nice and the location of the room is great; it is very close to many downtown attractions in San Francisco. The room itself was clean and spacious enough considering the location.

  • Wonderful stay! The location is in the heart of the shopping district! Nothing better than going outside of your hotel and seeing stores upon stores of goodness

    Eric2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • To be clear this unit is in an AMAZING location for Union Square and the price was great for the location as well! That being said I think my expectation was a little too high with the word hotel being used and what that normal standard implies. This was an older building and so there was a bit of an odor in the room that I wasn’t expecting. Other things to note would be to bring ear plugs as there was lots of street noise but once I had the earplugs in it was great. The room is tiny but fine if your just spending time Sleeping there. I think the cracks in the wall and the odor just didn’t make me think hotel. Other recommendations for females would be bring and extension cord for hair tools because the mirror isn’t close to one unless you unplug the refrigerator. Not a terrible place but just not what I expected from a “hotel room”.

  • Was a nice hotel in a great location. Was clean and stylish as well. Only issue was the hotel was overbooked when we arrived so we had to wait 4 hours to be able to check in. We would stay here again even with the issue of having to wait. However, please note that the parking costs extra and not a small amount.

  • This has been one of my favorite places to stay! The room was so great - unique decor and full of natural light. The extras like the gym, water refill stations, and restaurant/bar really added to our experience. The best part of our stay had to be all our interactions with the staff. They were genuinely kind, warm, and accommodating in so many ways. A special shout out to Todd, Caden, Vivian, and the housekeeping staff who went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of. This has been one of our favorite stays and we look forward to coming back here again when we visit SF. Thank you!

    Shannon2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • A very unique hotel experience at the top of Nob Hill and San Francisco. Beautiful boutique style hotel with incredible amenities like a cute little reading nook, amazing microbrewery bar, and very posh dining. Loved our spacious room and sweet touches like a customized SF events calendar, free to mail post cards, etc. check-in was awful. I had left my ID at home (totally on me - oof!) and it was impossible to check in until luckily my partner arrived. We both, separately, had to wait in line to meet with the reception for over 20 minutes each. Reception staff were generally unkind and unpleasant, surprising because bar staff and others were so lovely! Will stay again (and bring my ID) but wishing for an expedited way around reception ;(

    Brent2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was really nice...Very comfortable room and the staff was great. My only hangup was the valet service. They give you a ticket to text the ticket number to a dedicated phone number but even in doing so I found myself waiting 25+ minutes after having bell service help me downstairs. Not so much a complaint as it is a warning. If you're on a time crunch, I learned that just calling down direct to the valet will get you the fastest service. Everything else with the property was amazing, though. No complaints and I would absolutely stay there again and cannot recommend it enough.

    Ross2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place was outstanding. Located in one of the safest and best parts of San Francisco. Beautiful rooms (I suggest asking for a room with a view). I will definitely be staying with them next visit.

The home is surrounded by San Francisco's finest hotels: Stanford Court, Mark Hopkins, Huntington, Fairmont, Ritz Carlton. Nob Hill is one of the oldest neighborhoods for the Elite!
  • This was our first time using Airbnb and the results exceeded our expectations. Valentino was a wonderful host, and gave us an “insider’s guide” to the best things to do and see in San Francisco. Stunning vistas from Nob Hill and access to both trolley lines right outside your front door were unexpected and very much appreciated. The unique sound of the trolley is definitely audible from the room, but we considered it a pleasant background sound that added to the atmosphere of the city. The historic house is in a wonderful location from which to experience all that San Francisco has to offer!

    Heather2019-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Valentino was easy to communicate with, checked on us each day and gave tons of restaurant recommendations! The place is in a busy area but close to a lot of things. We love that it is a nice walk to Chinatown and an easy Uber ride everywhere else.

  • Valentino was a fantastic host! He was warm and welcoming and offered lots of great advice for seeing the city. The room was beautiful with lots of great natural light and a really lovely bed. Most of all, the location was fabulous: close to everywhere I wanted to be! Thanks for a great weekend!

  • Valentino is a truly fantastic host that ensures his guests are comfortable and have everything they need to make their SF stay enjoyable. The space was very clean and the location was optimal for walking around the SF downtown area (if you can motivate yourself up the hills). While you do only have a private room, it feels very much like the space is yours. He was very responsive and was able to give advice that helped us get around and enjoy our short stay in the city more. Overall, one of the best stays I’ve had with Airbnb and will return if I can afford San Francisco again anytime soon!

    Artin2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great and charming place to stay! Valentino has a lot of suggestions for where to get good food and is very helpful. Do get in touch with him before arriving though as the key box did not work

    Kjell Inge2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Valentino’s place. We especially loved the 1920’s home and the classic view of the San Francisco trolley passing by ourside our bedroom window. Valentino is a gentleman. I attended a conference at the Faimont, which is a four min walk. So, the location of the home was ideal for us. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

    Shannon2018-11-06T00:00:00Z

  • I stayed there for one night. The place was pretty cool. I had interview next day so I stayed up till 3 in common area; was no problem at all. Place was clean although little congested but worth every dollar. Would definitely go there next time I am in SF.

  • I had a really great stay here! Everyone was really friendly, and the hostel is in a perfect location. I was in SF to apply for my French visa, and the Consulate was just a 6 minute walk away which was perfect. Chinatown is just a few steps away, and if you don’t mind walking around, Union Square and the Ferry Building Marketplace is quite accessible. It was a little loud from the noise on the streets, but they offer earplugs for guests which was a nice touch. Overall, the place was clean and quaint, and I’d stay here again.

    Crystal2018-07-21T00:00:00Z

The newly remodeled bedroom is located in my totally remodeled 6 bedroom 6 bath unit It's just one block from the Top of Nob Hill where the Fairmont, Mark Hopkins, and Huntington hotels are located and a short stroll to Union Square, Chinatown and several other popular amenities. Each room has its own private en-suite bathroom and electronic lock for added privacy and convenience, Wi-Fi, fresh towels and linens, smart TV, desk, etc.
  • Location location, walking distance to union square, coit tower, China town. Lovely place and really clean and tidy

    Jon2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and contemporary apartment in downtown San Francisco. Exactly as advertised. Met other travelers from all over the world, that were also staying in the apartment’s other rooms. Great place to stay! Would highly recommend.

    Cole2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, for us it’s thumbs up. B&B looks freshly renovated, and furnished with good taste. Our room (no. 1, one of the lucky ones because the door does not open onto the kitchen, like no. 5 and 6), was spacious and clean. The kitchen (one of the key points of the B&B) was large, and fully equipped. WiFi was very efficient. The position, quite good in relation with the different neighborhoods of SF (if you’re walking, just remember it’s uphill). It would have been just perfect without a few minor faults: 1. Rooms are quite dark, since they are on the ground floor and windows open on narrow alleys between houses. 2. They would be less so if the window glasses were cleaned once in a while. 3. A family of elephants lives in the upper floor, and their heavy steps resound everywhere. 4. Jessica was always kind and available via Airbnb. Nevertheless, it took two days to get a new hand soap, and the window cleaning we kindly asked for was never done. As a result, we got the impression that responsiveness was more digital than on the ground. In the end these were minor faults and yes, we would recommend it. Hoping in a final leap toward perfection.

    Fabio2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here while I was at a work conference. It was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Perfect place to relax after a long day! Jessica was also very responsive and easy to communicate with.

    Jenny2018-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our stay. The bed was super comfy and I slept just as good as I do in my own bed. That’s one of the things I always worry about when I travel and I must say our stay was beyond amazing. Thank you Jessica for being such an amazing host and for opening up your home to us. We will definitely stay here again if we travel back to SF. You made it feel so welcome and at home. You exceeded my expectations for sure!

    Elizabeth2019-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • It's a good place!

    Wei2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica's place looked recently renovated, ample electrical outlets, very clean, supplied all the needed amenities, good towels, hair dryer, a couple of snacks, and two water bottles, and access to kitchen area. The location is great being close to the Union Square and surrounding area, restaurants, BART stations, and cable car access. A slight negative is the very steep two block sidewalk approaching from the Union Square area. However, this may be circumvented by taking the Powell Street cable car to Pine and then walking on relatively level ground the Jessica's place. Taking BART to the Powell Station and the Powell Street cable car to Pine, it a slick way to do it. I would stay here again.

    Frederick2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The space was great and our stay was seamless. Jessica was always quick to respond to any concerns we had. It’s a fine place in one of the best neighborhoods of SF. Would strongly recommend for any type of stay.

Its all about the views. We are a back building in a funky North Beach / Telegraph Hill complex. Very safe, very secluded. The apartment downstairs is empty (and will remain so). You basically have the building to yourself.
The entrance is on Vallejo, following a long breezeway to the back. You will feel like you've entered a time warp back to old SF. The outside of the building is NOrth Beach "ramshackle" but the inside of the apt is charming and warm Exposed wood floors. large galley kitchen, single room with exposed ceiling timbers makes this feel like a loft.
Its North Beach! Grant st. is 2 blocks away, broadway, 1 block. there is a LOT of action nearby. Cafe Trieste on the corner of Grant and Vallejo is THE local morning (noon and night) hang for the local color. The Vallejo garden steps just outside the front door are a common destination for visitors. The neighbors are all very friendly and social, frequently sitting stoopside enjoying evening cocktails. Introduce yourself and join in!

Serendipia Crypto Nest is offering a bed in a shared room at a community house for crypto founders, traders, miners, and others who support the new world economy. We highly encourage those who pursue sustainability and social innovation. If you have the hero mindset – you will fit just in!
Please, send us a message telling us a little bit about yourself. We would like to know what do you do for living, what dreams and hobbies you have, what goals you set for yourself in the next year and in your life, what can you bring to the community and what do you expect to receive, and anything else that you want to shout to the world. Our home is located in North Beach – the safest and most walkable neighborhood of San Francisco. You will be living footsteps away from San Francisco’s best sights. In the middle of Little Italy – you will have access to the best restaurants, parks, and cafes. Financial District is about 10 minutes away on foot. The live and work space offers a lot of advantages. As soon as you arrive, our community leader will introduce you to the group of changemakers who live in Serendipia Crypto Nest and those who lived with us before and still stay in touch online. There are two huge workspaces. The indoor workspace is ideal for those who like to work from home. Our underground garage workspace is ready to host events – it is equipped with speakers, mics, a piano; it has a lot of chairs, and tables. The best innovations of Silicon Valley came from a garage so it is a perfect spot to work from or host an event! Inside – you will have access to fully furnished bedrooms, equipped bathrooms, kitchen and even the laundry facility. Cleaners come to do cleaning twice a week – the living spaces are kept spotless.

  • We had a less-than-ideal check-in experience, but once we got to our room, it was a delightful stay. It's very cute and clean, and the hotel seemed to attract mostly international guests, which made the experience that much more fun and unique.

This extraordinary single family home nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac on Telegraph Hill is a relaxing retreat in the heart of the City. Windows and skylights make the interior bright and cheerful. The entertaining floor features rich wood floors, exposed wood beams, open floor plan with an eat-in remodeled kitchen. French doors lead from the kitchen to the rear, sunny garden patio perfect for alfresco dining.
The home has been extensively renovated and has 2 full baths. A sweeping open stair leads upstairs. You are walking distance to some of the best San Francisco has to offer: North Beach, Jackson Square, Embarcadero, the Ferry Building and Financial District.
The house is located two blocks from the waterfront.
  • The house is fine, probably worth 3/4 stars rating, but the host is the greediest one I’ve ever seen. Asking $30 per night for parking is also fine, he has every right to name his own price, but lying to me that he has people checking in and not having spot for parking and asking for late fee, while I’ve vacant garage hours ago, is just an example of how greedily he wants to milk money out of me. If I had known he’d be acting like this I probably wouldn’t even book the place or park my car there.

  • I had a great stay at Nando's place. The location is great and very close to where I need to go. Nando is quick to respond to my questions and is very help with local tips. The room is spacious and having a private bath is a huge plus. I would definitely stay here again if I come to San Francisco.

    Pey-Wen2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nando's place was in an awesome location, close walking distance to many great restaurants- including Chinatown! He gave us local suggestions and made sure out stay was as comfortable as possible. One thing that was a little unfortunate was that the shower in the private bathroom was broken so we ended up having to use a shared bathroom. It would have been nice to know ahead of time so if you are looking at staying. If you are expecting a private bathroom make sure you ask if it's fixed before you book!

  • Beautiful home! Loved it!

    Deryk2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nando’s place is located in a great spot and was great value! We found it pretty easy to walk or take a quick Uber to everywhere we wanted to go. He’s made a few updates to his place and listing since some of the previous reviews here. We didn’t have any issue with ants or mosquitos in our stay (granted we consciously chose not to bring in any kind of food), and found soap and shampoo available to us in our private bathroom. The parking spot was super super tight for our Subaru Forrester and costed us extra after booking (we looked around and didn’t find a better price for parking that was close by)
